management of discarded tires is a compelling environmental issue *** there are several approaches developed to recycle waste tire rubbers,their application in solid-state cooling is still *** the high barocaloric potential verified for elastomers,the use of waste tire rubber(WTR)as a refrigerant in solid-state cooling devices is very ***,we investigated the barocaloric effects in WTR and polymer blends made of vulcanized natural rubber(VNR)and WTR,to evaluate its feasibility for solid-state cooling *** adiabatic temperature changes and the isothermal entropy changes reach giant values,as well as the performance parameters,being comparable or even better than most barocaloric materials in ***,pure WTR and WTR-based samples also present a faster thermal exchange than VNR,consisting of an additional advantage of using these discarded ***,the present findings evidence the encouraging perspectives of employing waste rubbers in solid-state cooling based on barocaloric effects,contributing to both the recycling of polymers and the sustainable energy technology field.

In the blossoming field of Cd-free semiconductor quantum dots(QDs),ternary Ⅰ-Ⅲ-VI QDs have received increasing attention due to the ease of the environmentally friendly synthesis of high-quality materials in water,their high photoluminescence(PL)quantum yields(QYs)in the red and near infrared(NIR)region,and their inherently low ***,their oxygen-insensitive long PL lifetimes of up to several hundreds of nanoseconds close a gap for applications exploiting the compound-specific parameter PL *** overcome the lack of reproducible synthetic methodologies and to enable a design-based control of their PL properties,we assessed and modelled the synthesis of high-quality mPA-capped AglnS2/ZnS(AlS/ZnS)*** refined parameters included reaction time,temperature,Ag:In ratio,S:In ratio,Zn:In ratio,mPA:ln ratio,and pH using a design-of-experiment *** for the optimization was provided by mathematical models developed for the application-relevant PL parameters,maximum PL wavelength,QY,and PL lifetime as well as the elemental composition in terms of Ag:ln:Zn *** these experimental data-based models,mPA:ln and Ag:ln ratios and pH values were identified as the most important synthesis parameters for PL control and an insight into the connection of these parameters could be ***,the experimental conditions to synthetize QDs with tunable emission and high QY were *** excellent agreement between the predicted and experimentally found PL features confirmed the reliability of our methodology for the rational design of high quality AlS/ZnS QDs with defined PL *** approach can be straightforwardly extended to other ternary and quaternary QDs and to doped QDs.

The campo rupestre sensu lato is a vegetation type that occurs in South American mountains,supports a distinctive flora characterized by high rates of endemism,high herbaceous species richness and often-neglected but also species-rich of the arboreal *** aimed to investigate how environmental factors and elevation are associated with the distribution and diversity of woody species in different rupestrian vegetation types across South *** a database of 2,049 woody species from 185 sites across four vegetation types within the campo rupestre,we assessed how the vegetation types were grouped according to their floristic composition and number of shared indicator species,as well as by using different beta diversity *** most important variables from a set of 27 variables(***,geo-edaphic and climatic)explaining species distribution were identified using redundancy analysis(RDA)and variation partitioning *** distribution of vegetation types was related to both environmental and spatial fractions,with a set of 17 variables retained(***,grass cover and temperature seasonality as the most important variables).There was an association between the floristic composition of each vegetation type and the elevation *** the identified vegetation types are floristically related,they are distinguished by exclusive and habitat-specialist woody *** uniqueness of vegetation types should be considered in terms of complementarity for the conservation of campos rupestres.

Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells versus adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells for peripheral nerve regeneration

Studies have confirmed that bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells （mSCs） can be used for treatment of several nervous system diseases. However, isolation of bone marrow-derived mSCs （BmSCs） is an invasive and painful process and the yield is very low. Therefore, there is a need to search for other alterative stem cell sources. Adipose-derived mSCs （ADSCs） have phenotypic and gene expression profiles similar to those of BmSCs. The production of ADSCs is greater than that of BmSCs, and ADSCs proliferate faster than BmSCs. To compare the effects of venous grafts containing BmSCs or ADSCs on sciatic nerve injury, in this study, rats were randomly divided into four groups： sham （only sciatic nerve exposed）, matrigel （mG; sciatic nerve injury ＋ intravenous transplantation of mG vehicle）, ADSCs （sciatic nerve injury ＋ intravenous mG containing ADSCs）, and BmSCs （sciatic nerve injury ＋ intravenous mG containing BmSCs） groups. Sciatic functional index was calculated to evaluate the function of injured sciatic nerve. morphologic characteristics of nerves distal to the lesion were observed by toluidine blue staining. Spinal motor neurons labeled with Fluoro-Gold were quantitatively assessed. Compared with sham-operated rats, sciatic functional index was lower, the density of small-diameter fibers was significantly increased, and the number of motor neurons significantly decreased in rats with sciatic nerve injury. Neither ADSCs nor BmSCs significantly improved the sciatic nerve function of rats with sciatic nerve injury,increased fiber density, fiber diameters, axonal diameters, myelin sheath thickness, and G ratios （axonal diameter/fiber diameter ratios） in the sciatic nerve distal to the lesion site. There was no significant difference in the number of spinal motor neurons among ADSCs, BmSCs and mG groups. These results suggest that neither BmSCs nor ADSCs provide satisfactory results for peripheral nerve repair when using mG as the conductor for engraftment.

Ethyl and butyl acetate oxidation over manganese oxides

The movement known as“Breque dos Apps”was a social movement of a striker nature,which took place in Brazil in July *** movement was organized by workers which provided services to delivery apps(like iFood,Loggi,Uber Eats and Rappi).They demanded better working conditions and social protection measures,since they were out of the protection of the Brazilian legal *** reason for this lies in the fact that there is a debate about the classification of these workers-the maximum expression of the gig economy-as employees under Brazilian *** a result,and with the exponential growth in the use of these applications due to the Covid-19 pandemic,thousands of workers were left on the fringes of any social *** study aims to analyze the aforementioned movement and its demands within the paradigm of social rights,especially the ones regarding collective representation,which are guaranteed by the Brazilian *** terms of methodology,the content analysis method will be applied,considering that the established objective presupposes the study of theoretical and legal texts that allow the structuring of concepts applicable to the *** research technique to be adopted will be the analysis of indirect documentation,that is,literature review,to be carried out through bibliographic and documentary research,focused on literature and legal texts related to the topic.

To establish the chemical profile, and to evaluate the antibacterial and modulatory activity of the ethanolic extracts of the stalk’s inner bark and heartwood of Secondatia *** of total phenols and flavonoids was determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and aluminum chloride, respectively. Phenolic compounds were identified and quantified by HPLC-DAD (High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Diodearray Detector) and the Infrared Spectroscopy was performed using the measure by Attenuated Total Reflectance with Fourier Transform (ATR-FTIR). Antibacterial assays for determination of the minimum Inhibitory Concentration (mIC) and modification of aminoglycosides were performed by *** spectra showed similar characteristics, having among its main absorption bands hydroxyl group (OH). The antibacterial activity showed clinically significant results for the strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. In modulation assay, synergic and antagonistic effect for both extracts was observed. Heartwood extract in combination with antibiotics showed a significant mIC reduction at 19.8% (P mical and biological information of Secondatia floribunda suggesting that it is clinically relevant source of a new antibacterial therapy, especially due to the presence of significant levels of phenolic compounds.

The Liu Wei Di Huang Wan is a formula of a traditional Chinese medicine that is used to treat asthma patients and has been shown to have several important properties,such as antioxidant and free radical scavenging *** influence of an extract of Liu Wei Di Huang Wan on the labeling of blood constituents with technetium-99m was *** blood(Wistar rats) was incubated with the extract,stannous chloride and technetium-99m,as sodium *** were centrifuged and aliquots of plasma and blood cells were separated and precipitated with trichloroacetic acid,to obtain soluble and insoluble fractions of the blood *** percentage of radioactivity(%ATI) in all the fractions was *** analysis of the results shows that the extract at the highest concentration used(70 mg/mL) decreased significantly(Pm 96.48 ± 1.19 to 54.46 ± 7.38) on blood cells compartment,(from 81.11 ± 4.15 to 61.33 ± 4.74) on insoluble fractions of blood cells and(from 65.91 ± 2.44 to 13.15 ± 3.62) on insoluble fractions of *** conclusion,the results suggest that the substances present on this extract can alter this labeling process,probably due to(i) redox properties(antioxidant and chelator activities) and/or(ii) specific actions in the binding sites where the 99mTc would be bound on the blood *** a consequence,precaution is suggested on the interpretation of the nuclear medicine results from performed with blood constituents labeled with 99m Tc in patients that have undertaken LWDHW,although the current findings were obtained in experimental animal models.

Background: Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and neurodegenerative disorder characterized by deterioration of brain functions. Psychosocial interventions such as music and photographic stimuli may contribute to cognitive and sensory exercise or rehabilitation. Objective: Evaluate musical and photographic stimuli in elderly people with Alzheimer’s disease. Methods: It is an uncontrolled clinical trial, before-after type, eleven subjects composing the sample. Participants were submitted to Katz Index, Autobiographical memory Test, GDS-15, mini-mental State Examination. The collection instruments were used on the first and last day of intervention, individually. There were 2 sessions in the week with duration of 50 minutes totaling 20 sessions. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics and as variables expressed as mean standard deviation. Results: There was a significant effect of cognitive activity (P , it was observed that a small advance (P = 0.05) of the daily life activities. With the analysis of GDS-15, it is verified that they are more effective for the increase of the previous self-estimation of the therapy (P = 0.94). In the application of the AMT, it is observed that there was a better recruitment of the memory for the neutral words. Conclusion: Musical and photographic stimuli had a positive effect on the cognitive level, daily life activities and autobiographical memory in seniors with Alzheimer’s disease.
