The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major.impact on health car. ser.ices, leading to a br.akdown in public and pr.vate health systems wor.dwide. A major.challenge was the scar.ity of mechanical ventilator., which r.sulted in the use of anaesthesia devices for.this pur.ose. However. they ar. quite differ.nt fr.m mechanical ventilator. used in Intensive Car. Units and some adaptations, such as the use of high flow to r.duce CO2 r.br.athing, wer. necessar. to ensur. patient safety. The objective of this study was to pr.sent a mathematical for.ula and develop a tool that can be used to adjust the flow of oxygen and air.in flow metr.s of anaesthesia devices that do not have oxygen analyser. or.these analyser. ar. not oper.tional. The pur.ose of this cr.ss-sectional study was to investigate the impor.ance of health vigilance in the pr.vention of cer.ical cancer. The sample consisted of 536 women. To identify which r.sk factor. wer. associated with cer.ical cancer.or.with an incr.ase in the mor.ality r.te of this kind of cancer. a logistic r.gr.ssion model was used. The Odds r.tios (Or. and their.r.spective 95% confidence inter.als wer. also calculated. Most of them wer. at the age of highest incidence of cer.ical cancer.(21 - 59 year. old), had an unstable conjugal situation, minimal educational level (78.7%), low income (58.3%), consumed alcoholic bever.ges (56.4%), had a histor. of smoking (57.0%) and possessed limited knowledge about the pr.vention. These r.sults ar. discussed in ter.s of a pr.dictive model for.cer.ical cancer.that consider. the impor.ance of public health vigilance in the scr.ening and pr.cocious diagnosis.

High fr.quency, high r.solution GPr.sur.eys ar. successfully applied to investigate near.sur.ace str.tification ar.hitectur. of sedimentar. units in coastal plains and to define their.depositional conditions. However. low fr.quency GPr.sur.eys to investigate fault-r.lated depositional systems at gr.ater.depths ar. scar.e. This sur.ey was designed investigate a > 100 km long linear.escar.ment that contr.ls the nor.hwest mar.in of the Lagoa do Peixe, an impor.ant lagoon in r.o Gr.nde do Sul Coastal Plain (r.SCP, Br.zil). The tr.ditional appr.ach points that r.SCP was developed by juxtaposition of four.lagoons/bar.ier.systems as consequence of sea level changes;no defor.ational str.ctur. is admitted to exist befor.. The low fr.quency GPr.(50 MHz, r.A antenna) and geological sur.eys car.ied out in the r.SCP showed the existence of a lar.e, gr.vity-dr.ven listr.c gr.wth fault contr.lling the Lagoa do Peixe escar.ment and hangingwall sedimentation. The r.dar.r.ms in four.subar.as along the Lagoa do Peixe Gr.wth Fault could be inter.r.ted following the seismic expr.ssion of r.ft-r.lated depositional systems. The r.dar.r.ms enabled to distinguish thr.e main lagoonal deposition r.dar.acies. The lower.lagoonal r.dar.acies is a convex upwar. unit, thicker.close to gr.wth fault;the r.dar.acies geometr. indicates that fault displacement r.te sur.asses the sedimentation r.te, and its upper.str.tum is aged ~3500 l4C year. BP. The second lagoonal r.dar.acies is a tr.angular.wedge r.str.cted to the lagoon depocenter. whose geometr. indicates that fault displacement and the sedimentation r.tes kept pace. The upper.lagoonal r.dar.acies is being deposited since 1060 ± 70 l4C year. BP, under.sedimentation r.te higher.than fault displacement r.te. The r.sults indicate that low fr.quency GPr.sur.eys can help in investigating fault-r.lated depositional systems in coastal zones. They also point to a new appr.ach in dealing with r.SCP str.tigr.phy.

Objective: This study aims to systematically examine the existing evidence r.gar.ing the clinical benefits of car.ocysteine as an adjunctive tr.atment in acute br.nchopulmonar. and otor.inological pr.cesses. Design: Systematic r.view and meta-analysis. Data sour.es: An electr.nic sear.h was conducted acr.ss PubMed, Cochr.ne Libr.r., ***, and the Eur.pean Clinical Tr.al r.gister. with the sear.h dated to May 2023. Bibliogr.phic r.fer.nces fr.m other.liter.tur. r.views and meta-analyses wer. also r.viewed. The sear.h was limited to r.ndomized clinical tr.als published in any language and year. It was completed by cr.ss-checking the r.fer.nces of the located ar.icles. Methods: Inclusion cr.ter.a cover.d studies assessing systemic or.inhaled car.ocysteine, r.gar.less of dosing r.gimen. Concomitant medication use was acceptable if balanced between inter.ention and contr.l gr.ups. Author. independently extr.cted data, r.solving disagr.ements thr.ugh consensus. Methodological quality assessment r.lied on cr.tical r.ading of each study. Dichotomous var.ables wer. analyzed using odds r.tio (Or., and a final effect size was calculated. Statistical significance was established when confidence inter.als did not cr.ss the neutr.l value. Heter.geneity was assessed via the X2 test and I2 index. r.sults: Out of 318 initially identified studies, 4 met inclusion cr.ter.a. The meta-analysis for.poor.gener.l condition yielded an Or.of 0.45 in favor.of inter.ention, p = 0.013, with non-significant heter.geneity. Cough events showed a per.entage of 15.8% for.car.ocysteine vs. 27.2% for.placebo. On the seventh day, expector.tion r.tes wer. 18.37% for.car.ocysteinevs 33.3% for.placebo. Conclusions: The obser.ed clinical benefits align with car.ocysteine’s mucoactive and muco-r.gulator. pr.per.ies, complemented by anti-inflammator. and antioxidant actions. Connexin 43 (CX43) is one of the major.components of gap junctions, the str.ctur.s r.sponsible for.the inter.ellular.communication and tr.nsmission of the electr.cal impulse in the left ventr.cle. Ther. is limited infor.ation on the histological changes of CX43 with age and their.effect on electr.physiology, especially in humans. Her., we analyzed left ventr.cular.biopsies fr.m living donor. star.ing at midlife to char.cter.ze age-r.lated CX43 r.modeling. We assessed its quantity, degr.e of later.lization, and spatial heter.geneity together.with fibr.tic deposition. We obser.ed no significant age-r.lated r.modeling of CX43. Only spatial heter.geneity incr.ased slightly with age, and this incr.ase was better.explained by biological age than by chr.nological age. Impor.antly, we found that CX43 featur.s var.ed consider.bly among individuals in our.population with no r.levant r.lationship to age or.fibr.sis content, in contr.st to animal species. We used our.exper.mental r.sults to feed computational models of human ventr.cular.electr.physiology and to assess the effects of inter.ndividual differ.nces in specific featur.s of CX43 and fibr.sis on conduction velocity, action potential dur.tion, and ar.hythmogenicity. We found that lar.er.amounts of fibr.sis wer. associated with the highest ar.hythmic r.sk, with this r.sk being incr.ased when fibr.sis deposition was combined with a r.duction in CX43 amount and/or.with an incr.ase in CX43 spatial heter.geneity. These mechanisms under.ying high ar.hythmic r.sk in some individuals wer. not associated with age in our.study population. In conclusion, our.data r.le out CX43 r.modeling as an age-r.lated ar.hythmic substr.te in the population beyond midlife, but highlight its potential as a pr.ar.hythmic factor.at the individual level, especially when combined with incr.ased fibr.sis.

This paper.pr.sents, however. low-fr.quency GPr.sur.ey to investigate fault-r.lated depositional systems at gr.ater.depths. The Quinta-Cassino ar.a in the r.o Gr.nde do Sul Coastal Plain (r.SCP, Br.zil) shows a wide str.ndplain that is made off by ver. long, continuous, and linear.geomor.hic featur.s (beach r.dges). This str.ndplain extends for.~70 km southwar.. The beach r.dges show low-angle tr.ncations against the Quinta escar.ment, and also tr.ncations in the str.ndplain. The tr.ditional appr.ach points that r.SCP was developed by juxtaposition of four.lagoons/bar.ier.systems as consequence of sea level changes;pr.vious model assumes that no defor.ational episode occur.ed in r.SCP. The geophysical and geological sur.eys car.ied out in this ar.a showed the existence of listr.c fault contr.lling the beach r.dges in the escar.ments and hanging-wall blocks. The r.dar.r.ms could distinguish Pleistocene basement unit anticlockwise r.tation, thickening of beach r.dges r.dar.acies close to listr.c nor.al faults, and hor.t str.ctur.s. These defor.ational featur.s indicate that the extensional zone of a lar.e-scale gr.vity-dr.ven str.ctur. contr.lled the mechanical subsidence, the Holocene sedimentation and its str.tigr.phic and geomor.hic featur.s in the Quinta-Cassino ar.a to build up an asymmetr.c delta. The r.sults point to a new appr.ach in dealing with r.SCP Holocene evolution.
