Objective: To report the renal histological lesions in synanthropic rodents, Mus musculus and Rattus rattus, naturally infected with Leptospira spp., captured in a rural community in Yucatan, Mexico. Methods: Kidney samples of synanthropic rodents were collected from a rural community in Yucatan, Mexico. Polymerase chain reaction was used to detect Leptospira spp. infection. Tissue kidney was fixed in 10% buffered formalin, processed according to the usual techniques for paraffin inclusion, cut and stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and examined using a conventional electronic microscope. Results: A total of 187 rodents were captured. Nine individuals(4.8%) were positive for Leptospira spp. in the molecular analysis. All renal lesions observed in the histopathological study had been reported previously for Leptospira spp. infection. Conclusions: The histopathological lesions are present in the kidneys, plus the results of the polymerase chain reaction confirm that these rodents are true carriers of Leptospira spp.

In order to address the study of complex systems,the detection of patterns in their dynamics could play a key role in understanding their *** particular,global patterns are required to detect emergent concepts and trends,some of them of a qualitative *** concept analysis(FCA) is a theory whose goal is to discover and extract knowledge from qualitative data(organized in concept lattices).In complex environments,such as sport competitions,the large amount of information currently available turns concept lattices into complex *** authors analyze how to apply FCA reasoning in order to increase confidence in sports predictions by means of detecting regularities from data through the management of intuitive and natural attributes extracted from publicly available *** complexity of concept lattices-considered as networks with complex topological structure- is *** is applied to building a knowledge based system for confidence-based reasoning,which simulates how humans tend to avoid the complexity of concept networks by means of bounded reasoning skills.

Heart failure(HF)is a clinical syndrome caused by structural and/or functional cardiac abnormalities,resulting in a reduced cardiac output and/or elevated intracardiac filling pressures at rest or during *** is a major public health problem with high prevalence and incidence,involving both high morbidity and mortality,but also high economic *** incidence of HF progressively increases with age,reaching around 20%among people over 75 years ***,HF represents the leading cause of hospitalization in patients older than 65 years in Western ***,some authors even consider HF a geriatric syndrome,entailing worse prognosis and high residual disability,and often associating some complex comorbidities,common in older population,that may further complicate the course of the *** the other hand,however,clinical course and prognosis may be often difficult to *** this article,main pathophysiological issues related to the aging heart are addressed,together with key aspects related to both diagnosis and prognosis in elderly patients with ***,main geriatric conditions,common in the elderly population,are reviewed,highlighting the importance of a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach.

According to first-principles density functional calculations, we have investigated the magnetic properties of Mn- doped gaN with defects, ga1-x-yVgxMny N1-z-tVNzOt with Mn substituted at ga sites, nitrogen vacancies VN, gallium vacancies Vg and oxygen substituted at nitrogen sites. The magnetic interaction in Mn-doped gaN favours the ferromagnetic coupling via the double exchange mechanism. The ground state is found to be well described by a model based on a Mn3＋-d5 in a high spin state coupled via a double exchange to a partially delocalized hole accommodated in the 2p states of neighbouring nitrogen ions. The effect of defects on ferromagnetic coupling is investigated. It is found that in the presence of donor defects, such as oxygen substituted at nitrogen sites, nitrogen vacancy antiferromagnetic interactions appear, while in the case of ga vacancies, the interactions remain ferromagnetic; in the case of acceptor defects like Mg and Zn codoping, ferromagnetism is stabilized. The formation energies of these defects are computed. Furthermore, the half-metallic behaviours appear in some studied compounds.

We report for the first time the presence of local populations of the starfish Odontaster penicillatus in the regions of Atacama and Antofagasta,*** finding indicates an extension of the distribution limit of 500 km with respect to the last observation made in 2007 in Isla grande de Atacama.A total of 121 specimens of *** were recorded at depths of between 8 m and 24 *** were associated with rocky substrate and with different species of barnacles,sponges and *** presence of *** expands the knowledge of the benthic biodiversity of the region,and the development of studies on its ecological importance will be promoted.

1 Introduction Societies are ageing at an accelerated *** scenario is a well-known challenge for health care systems,as chronic diseases,multiple comorbidities and dependency are all entities that often converge in the ***,there is an issue regarding a reduction in the general incidence of acute coronary syndrome(ACS)together with a delayed in the age of presentation,which,in sum,lead to an increase in both incidence and prevalence of ACS with age,especially non-ST elevation myocardial infarction(NSTEMI).

Next-generation sequencing （NgS） technologies allow the cost-effective sequencing of whole genomes and have expanded the scope of genomics to novel applications, such as the genome-wide characterization of intraspecific polymorphisms and the rapid mapping and identification of point mutations. Next-generation sequencing platforms, such as the Illumina HiSeq2ooo platform, are now commercially available at affordable prices and routinely produce an enormous amount of sequence data, but their wide use is often hindered by a lack of knowledge on how to manipulateand process the information produced. In this review, we focus on the strategies that are available to geneticists who wish to incorporate these novel approaches into their research but who are not familiar with the necessary bioinformatic concepts and computational tools. In particular, we comprehensively summarize case studies where the use of NgS technologies has led to the identification of point mutations, a strategy that has been dubbed ＂mapping-by-sequencing＇, and review examples from plants and other model species such as Caenorhabditis elegans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Drosophila mela- nogaster. As these technologies are becoming cheaper and more powerful, their use is also expanding to allow mutation identification in species with larger genomes, such as many crop plants.

The satisfaction rate of desired velocity in the case of a mixture of fast and slow vehicles is studied by using a cellular automaton method. It is found that at low density the satisfaction rate depends on the maximal velocity. However, the behavior of the satisfaction rate as a function of the coefficient of variance is independent of the maximal velocity. This is in good agreement with empirical results obtained by Lipshtat [Phys. Rev. E 79 066110 （2009）]. Furthermore, our numerical result demonstrates that at low density the satisfaction rate takes higher values, whereas the coefficient of variance is close to zero. The coefficient of variance increases with increasing density, while the satisfaction rate decreases to zero. Moreover, we have also shown that, at low density the coefficient variance depends strongly on the probability of overtaking.

AIM： To assess whether CCL2 or interactions between this chemokine and its receptor （CCR2） are associated with outcomes of chronic hepatitis C and with responses to antiviral therapy. METHODS： Two hundred and eighty-four patients with chronic hepatitis C and 193 non-infected matched controls were included in this study. Patients were categorized according to their Scheuer score of hepatic fibrosis as F0-F2 （/7 = 202） or F3-F4 （/7 = 82） and according to their response to anti-Hepatitis C virus （HCV） therapy as sustained response （SR, n = 201） or non-sustained response （NSR, n = 98）. genotyping of the -2518 （A/g） CCL2 was performed using PCR-RFLP, genotyping of the 190 （A/g） CCR2 using a PCR-ARMS system, and genotyping of the rs3138042 （g/A） CCR2 using Taqman probes. RESULTS： Univariate analyses identified 4 parameters （infection duration time, viral genotype, gender and AST levels） that tended to influence fibrosis and 7 parameters （CCL2g, CCL2ACCR2A, viremia levels, fibrosis stage, viral genotype, infection duration time and AST levels） that significantly influenced or tended to influence response to treatment. Multivariate analysis identified gender and AST levels as parameters that independently influenced fibrosis stage and viral genotype and infection duration time were the two parameters that independently influenced response to treatment. CONCLUSION： Our results indicate that the mutations studied in the gene pair CCL2/CCR2 do not play a major role in the outcome and response to treatment for HCV infection in the Spanish population.
