Study and Characterization of （KxSr1-x）CrOz, x = 0.10-0.50System

Studies of thermodynamic, electric and magnetic properties were conducted on the （KxSr1-x）CrOz, x = 0.10, 0.15 and 0.50system; adjusted for different crystal sizes （polycrystalline, nano-crystalline and single crystals）. For polycrystals, a solid-statereaction method was used （room temperature, TR, up to 665 °C）. Nano-crystals, a crushing technique with a mechanical mortar wereprocessed at TR. Single crystals were acquired, through fusion method starting from polycrystals pre-manufactured （665 °C） over900 °C. For the methods described above, they all were worked at atmospheric pressure. Studying the thermodynamic in the crystalsmixture were obtained by TGA （thermogravimetric analysis） and DSC （differential scanning calorimetry）. Powder XRD （X-raydiffraction） in the manual grinding mixture a SrCO3 solid solution, at TR was detected. When increasing the temperature, a solidsolution of K2Sr（CrO4）2 is formed. By HRTEM （high-resolution transmission electronic microscope）, crystal sizes 4-12 nm were seen.（K0.50Sr0.50）CrOz composition presents a weak ferromagnetic and an insulating behavior.

Hydrological Assessment for Watershed Health in a Headwater Sub-Basin of the Rio Grande de Arecibo, Puerto Rico

The Río Grande de Arecibo (RGA) Watershed is a crucial source of water for the residents of the Island of Puerto Rico, including those living in the San Juan metropolitan area that are supplied by the North Coast Super Aqueduct. It is also significant for forest conservation, with five state forests providing around 10% of the watershed’s protected forest area. However, land cover changes in the region are putting the watershed’s sustainability at risk, as is the case in many places worldwide. This study takes an integrated socioecological approach to examine environmental changes in a headwater sub-basin of the RGA Watershed over a 20-year period (2001-2021). Using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), we assessed the impact of land cover changes on water sustainability. Our findings indicated that the headwater sub-basin of the RGA showed a decrease in both Forest Land and Range Land and an increase in Urban Built-up Land cover 20 years later. The results from SWAT provided the information to establish a “less healthy” condition 20 years later, due to the increase in the surface runoff metric and a decrease in the lateral flow metric. The study provides a baseline for future socioecological watershed studies and sustainable management actions, and its novel approach, combining geospatial analysis with hydrological modeling, could be applied to other watersheds, particularly in the tropics, where such studies are scarce.

In silico approaches for metabolites optimization have been derived from the flood of sequenced and annotated genomes. However, there exist still numerous degrees of freedom in terms of optimization algorithm approaches that can be exploited in order to enhance yield of processes which are based on biological reactions. Here, we propose an evolutionary approach aiming to suggest different mutant for augmenting ethanol yield using glycerol as substrate in Escherichia coli. We found that this algorithm, even though is far from providing the global optimum, is able to uncover genes that a global optimizer would be incapable of. By over-expressing accB, eno, dapE, and accA mutants in ethanol production was augmented up to 2 fold compared to its counterpart E. coli BW25113.

BACKGROUND Primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC)manifests within a broad ethnic and racial spectrum,reflecting different levels of access to health *** To evaluate the clinical profile,complications and survival rates of patients with PSC undergoing liver transplantation(LTx)at a Brazilian reference *** All patients diagnosed with PSC before or after LTx were *** medical records were reviewed for demographic and clinical variables,including outcomes and *** level of statistical significance was set at P<*** Our cohort represented 1.6%(n=34)of the 2113 patients receiving liver grafts at our service over the past two *** were male(n=19;56%).The average age(40±14 years)was similar for men and women(P=0.347).The mean follow-up time from diagnosis to LTx was 68 *** patients had the classic form of *** women had PSC/autoimmune hepatitis overlap syndrome,and one patient had small-duct *** phosphatase levels at diagnosis and pre-LTx model for end-stage liver *** were significantly higher in *** bowel research(IBD)was investigated by colonoscopy in 26/34(76%)and was present in most cases(18/26;69%).IBD was less common in women than in men(44.4%vs.55.6%)(P=0.692).Cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)was diagnosed in 2/34(5.9%)patients by histopathology of the explant(survival:3 years 6 mo,and 4 years 11 mo).Two patients had complications requiring a second LTx(one after 7 d due to hepatic artery thrombosis and one after 17 d due to primary graft dysfunction).Five patients(14.7%)developed biliary *** overall median post-LTx survival was 66 *** deaths occurred in the first year(infection n=2,primary liver graft dysfunction n=3,unknown cause n=1).The 1-year and 5-year survival rates of this cohort were 82.3%and 70.6%,respectively,matching the mean overall survival rates of LTx patients at our center(87.1%and 69.43%,respectively)(P=0.83).CONCLUSION Survival after 1 and 5 years was simil
