Epithelioid angiomyolipoma (EAML) is a rare morphologic variant of classic angiomyolipoma (AML), showing potentially malignant phenotype. AML is a benign mesenchymal tumor, which shows frequent inactivating mutations of?TSC1 (encodes harmartin) or?TSC2 (encodes tuberin) genes. Disruption of harmatin-tuberin complex and subsequent inappropriate activation of mTOR pathway is a distinct feature of AML. Thus, mTOR pathway inhibitors have shown significant clinical response in AML. Compared to the great success of mTOR inhibitors in AML, there is no standard therapy for EAML yet. Here, we present a patient with EAML who responded well to mTOR inhibitor (temsirolimus) but suffered rapid disease progression after cessation of temsirolimus. In addition, we performed Cancer Hotspot Panel (Ion AmpliSeqTM) analysis to identify novel tumorigenic properties of EAML. Of note, Cancer Hotspot Panel analysis revealed novel missense mutation in?SMARCB1 (c.1119-41G > A) tumor suppressor gene and subsequent immunohistochemistry analysis also revealed weak and partial losses ofSMARCB1/INI1 protein in nuclei of tumor cells. In this study, we suggest that mTOR inhibitors also can be effective against EAML. However, the long-term efficacy of mTOR inhibitors in EAML needs to be supported in further studies. Furthermore, we speculate that the newly found missense mutation ofSMARCB1/INI1 gene can be the possible novel tumorigenic properties of EAML and highlights the possibility of further novel targeted therapy beyond mTOR inhibitors in EAML.

Effects of Hybrid Voltages on Oxide Formation on 6061 Al-alloys During Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation

Plasma electrolytic oxidation （PEO） is carried out on 6061 Al-alloys in a weak alkaline electrolyte containing NaOH, Na2SiO3 and NaCl. Centered on the correlation of composition and structure, analyses by means of X-ray diffration （XRD）, scanning electron microscope （SEM） and energy dispersive spectrometry （EDS） are conducted on the specimens, which have been PEO-treated under hybrid voltages of different direct current （DC） values （140-280 V） with constant alternate current （AC） amplitude （200 V）. Attention is paid to the composition, properties and growth mechanism of oxide layers formed with hybrid voltages. Moreover, the main effects of DC value are discussed. Ceramic layers with a double-layer structure which combines hard outer and soft inner layers are found to be consist of α-Al2O3,γ-Al2O3 and mullite. With the DC values increasing, the growth of the ceramic layers tends to have increasingly obvious three-stage feature.

Diatoms are a globally successful and eukaryotic photosynthetic organism with an ornamented silica external *** relationship between their valve morphology and habitat means that diatoms can be used as bioindicators to characterize the aquatic *** estimate the differential distribution and diversity of diatom assemblages along the coastal line,we collected phytoplankton samples from 114 coastal sites of waters of *** applied the unweighted pair-group technique using the arithmetic averages clustering method to cluster the sampling sites,apart from those where the biota consisted of other groups,such as dinoflagellates,into four regions:the Yellow Sea,South Sea,southern East Sea,and northern East *** species analysis in each region led to the selection of tychoplanktonic,chain-forming,attached species to substrates and psychrophilic indicator diatoms,respectively,each of which represented a planktonic lifestyle associated with one of the four *** study shows the diatom assemblages to serve as bioindicators of Korean coastal water in winter,and the subsequent seasonal survey will provide a starting point for the improved understanding of Korean diatom-based ecoregions,in both time and space.

AIM： To investigate whether activin regulates the cell proliferation of human gastric cancer cell line SNU-16 through the mRNA changes in activin receptors, Smads and p21^CIP1/WAF1. METHODS： The human gastric cancer cell lines were cultured, RNAs were purified, and RT-PCRs were carried out with specifically designed primer for each gene. Among them, the two cell lines SNU-5 and SNU-16 were cultured with activin A for 24, 48 and 72 h. The cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay. For SNU-16, changes in ActRIA, ActRIB, ActRIIA, ActRIIB, Smad2, Smad4, Smad7, and p21^CIP1/WAF1 mRNAs were detected with RT-PCR after the cells were cultured with activin A for 24, 48 and 72 h. RESULTS： The proliferation of SNU-16 cells was down regulated by activin A whereas other cells showed no change. Basal level of inhibin/activin subunits, activin receptors, Smads, and p21^CIP1/WAF1 except for activin βB mRNAs was observed to have differential expression patterns in the human gastric cancer cell lines, AGS, KATO III, SNU-1, SNU-5, SNU-16, SNU-484, SNU-601, SNU-638, SNU-668, and SNU-719. Interestingly, significantly higher expressions of ActR IIA and IIB mRNAs were observed in SNU-16 cells when compared to other cells. After activin treatment, ActR IA, IB, and IIA mRNA levels were decreased whereas ActR IIB mRNA level increased in SNU-16 cells. Smad4 mRNA increased for up to 48 h whereas Smad7 mRNA increased sharply at 24 h and returned to the initial level at 48 h in SNU-16 cells. In addition, expression of the p21^CIP1/WAF1 the mitotic inhibitor, peaked at 72 h after activin treatment in SNU-16 cells. CONCLUSION： Our results suggest that inhibition of cell growth by activin is regulated by the negative feedback effect of Smad7 on the activin signaling pathway, and is mediated through p21^CIP1/WAF1 activation in SNU-16 cells.

Although high-entropy alloys(HEAs)are attracting interest,the physical metallurgical mechanisms related to their properties have mostly not been clarified,and this limits wider industrial applications,in addition to the high alloy *** clarify the physical metallurgical reasons for the materials phenomena(sluggish diffusion and micro-twining at cryogenic temperatures)and investigate the effect of individual elements on solid solution hardening for the equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi HEA based on atomistic simulations(Monte Carlo,molecular dynamics and molecular statics).A significant number of stable vacant lattice sites with high migration energy barriers exists and is thought to cause the sluggish *** predict that the hexagonal close-packed(hcp)structure is more stable than the face-centered cubic(fcc)structure at 0 K,which we propose as the fundamental reason for the micro-twinning at cryogenic *** alloying effect on the critical resolved shear stress(CRSS)is well predicted by the atomistic simulation,used for a design of non-equiatomic fcc HEAs with improved strength,and is experimentally *** study demonstrates the applicability of the proposed atomistic approach combined with a thermodynamic calculation technique to a computational design of advanced HEAs.

Effects of Cr addition(0,3,and 6 wt%) on Charpy impact properties of Fe-C-Mn-Cr-based steels were studied by conducting dynamic compression tests at room and cryogenic *** room temperature,deformation mechanisms of Charpy impacted specimens were observed as twinning induced plasticity(TWIP) without any transfo rmation induced plasticity(TRIP) in all the *** cryogenic temperature,many twins were populated in the Cr-added steels,but,interestingly,fine ε-martensite was found in the OCr steel,satisfying the Shoji-Nishiyama(S-N) orientation relationship,{111}γ//{0002}ε and γ//ε.Even though the cryogenic-temperature staking fault energies(SFEs) of the three steel were situated in the TWIP regime,the martensitic transformation was induced by Mn-and Cr-segregated *** the OCr steel,SFEs of low-(Mn,Cr) bands lay between the TWIP and TRIP regimes which were sensitively affected by a small change of *** dynamic compressive test results well showed the relation between segregation bands and the *** of Cr were known as not only increasing the SFE but also promoting the carbide *** order to identify the possibility of carbide formation,a precipitation kinetics simulation was conducted,and the predicted fractions of precipitated M23C6 were negligible,0.4-1.1×10-5,even at the low cooling rate of 10℃/s.

Objective:Despite being the third commonest cancer in Singaporean men,there is a dearth of basic data on the detection rate of prostate cancer and post-procedure complication rates locally using systematic 12-core *** objective is to evaluate prostate cancer detection rates using 12-core prostate biopsy based on serum prostate specific antigen(PSA)levels and digital rectal examination(DRE)findings in Singaporean men presenting to a single tertiary *** secondary objective is to evaluate the complication rates of transrectal prostate ***:We retrospectively examined 804 men who underwent first transrectal-ultrasound(TRUS)guided 12-core prostate biopsies from January 2012 to April *** biopsies were performed on men presenting to a tertiary institution when their PSA levels were4.0 ng/mL and/or when they had suspicious DRE ***:Overall prostate cancer detection rate was 35.1%.Regardless of DRE findings,patients were divided into four subgroups based on their serum PSA levels:0e3.99 ng/mL,4.00 e9.99 ng/mL,10.00e19.99 ng/mL and20.00 ng/mL and their detection rates were 9.5%,20.9%,38.4% and 72.3%,*** detection rate of cancer based on suspicious DRE findings alone was 59.2% compared to 36.5% based on serum PSA cut-off of 4.0 ng/mL *** post-biopsy admission rate for sepsis was 1.5%.Conclusion:In conclusion,using contemporary 12-core biopsy methods,the local prostate cancer detection rate based on serum PSA and DRE findings has increased over the past decade presumably due to multiple genetic and environmental ***-biopsy sepsis remains an important complication worldwide.

Background:In patients with cyanotic congenital heart disease(CHD),cerebral oxygenation may be maintained by elevations in hematocrit(Hct).Hemodilution accompanying cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB),however,can disrupt cerebral oxygen balance,leading to fluctuations in cerebral oxygen saturation(ScO_(2)).The present study investigated the effects of Hct changes on the fluctuation of ScO_(2)during CPB in cyanotic CHD using performance measurement(PM).Methods:Children with CHD(51 acyanotic and 46 cyanotic)who had undergone cardiac surgery using CPB were *** performance error(MDPE),median absolute performance error(MDAPE),and wobble parameters of ScO_(2)were calculated before(reference value),during,and after *** of PM parameters with Hct and reductions in Hct(ΔHct)were also ***:Before CPB,patients with cyanotic CHD had lower MDPE and larger wobble than those with acyanotic CHD,although mean ScO_(2)did not differ significantly between the two *** CPB,ScO_(2)of acyanotic CHD increased asΔHct increased,but PM variables were not associated withΔ*** cyanotic CHD,MDPE(r=−0.324,p=0.032)and MDAPE(r=0.339,p=0.024)correlated significantly withΔHct during *** CPB,MDPE(r=0.574,p=0.025)and MDAPE(r=−0.543,p=0.036)were significantly correlated with Hct in children with cyanotic CHD who underwent palliative ***:Therefore,ScO_(2)fluctuation during CPB in children with cyanotic CHD may be affected by the decrease in Hct,suggesting that excessive hemodilution can negatively influence the maintenance of cerebral oxygenation in these patients.

Most organic electrode materials(OEMs)for rechargeable batteries employ n-type redox centers,whose redox potentials are intrinsically limited<3.0 V versus Li^(+)/***,p-type materials possessing high redox potentials experience low specific capacities because they are capable of only a single redox reaction within the stable electrochemical window of typical ***,we report 5,11-diethyl-5,11-dihydroindolo[3,2-b]carbazole(DEICZ)as a novel p-type OEM,exhibiting stable plateaus at high discharge potentials of 3.44 and 4.09 V versus Li^(+)/***,the second redox potential of DEICZ is within the stable electrochemical *** mechanism of the double redox reaction is investigated using both theoretical calculations and experimental measurements,including density functional theory calculations,ex situ electron spin resonance,and X-ray photoelectron ***,hybridization with single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNT)improves the cycle stability and rate performance of DEICZ owing to theπ-πinteractions between the SWCNT and co-planar molecular structure of DEICZ,preventing the dissolution of active materials into the *** DEICZ/SWCNT composite electrode maintains 70.4%of its initial specific capacity at 1-C rate and also exhibits high-rate capability,even performing well at 100-C ***,we demonstrate its potential for flexible batteries after applying 1000 bending stresses to the composite electrode.
