AIM:To determine the prevalences of TTV and HGV infections among blood donors and patients with chronic liver disease in Korea,to investigate the association of TTV and HGV infections with blood transfusion,and to assess the correlation between TTV and HGV viremia and hepatic damage. METHODS:A total of 391 serum samples were examined in this *** were obtained from healthy blood donors(n=110),hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)-positive donors(n=112),anti-hepatitis C virus(anti-HCV)-positive donors(n=69),patients with type B chronic liver disease (n=81),and patients with type C chronic liver disease(n=19). Trv DNA was detected using the hemi-nested *** RNA was tested using RT-PCR.A history of blood transfusion and serum levels of alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST)were also determined. RESULTS:TTV DNA was detected in 8.2%of healthy blood donors,16.1%of HBsAg-positive donors,20.3%of anti- HCV-positive donors,21.0%of patients with type B chronic liver disease,and 21.1%of patients with type C chronic liver *** RNA was detected in 1.8%of healthy blood donors,1.8%of HBsAg-positive donors,17.4%of anti-HCV-positive donors,13.6%of patients with type B chronic liver disease,and 10.5%of patients with type C chronic liver *** prevalence of TTV and HGV infections in HBV- or HCV-positive donors and patients was significantly higher than in healthy blood donors(P<0.05), except for the detection rate of HGV in HBsAg-positive donors which was the same as for healthy *** was a history of transfusion in 66.7%of TTV DNA-positive patients and 76.9%of HGV RNA-positive patients(P<0.05).No significant increase in serum ALT and AST was detected in the TTV or HGV-positive donors and patients. CONCLUSION:TTV and HGV infections are more frequently found in donors and patients infected with HBV or HCV than in healthy blood ***,there is no significant association between TTV or HGV infections and liver injury.

Initialization for NMF-Based Audio Source Separation Using Priors on Encoding Vectors

Nonnegative matrix factorization(NMF)has shown good performances on blind audio source separation(BASS).While the NMF analysis is a non-convex optimization problem when both the basis and encoding matrices need to be estimated simultaneously,the source separation step of the NMF-based BASS with a fixed basis matrix has been considered ***,because the basis matrix for the BASS is typically constructed by concatenating the basis matrices trained with individual source signals,the subspace spanned by the basis vectors for one source may overlap with that for other *** this paper,we have shown that the resulting encoding vector is not unique when the subspaces spanned by basis vectors for the sources overlap,which implies that the initialization of the encoding vector in the source separation stage is not ***,we propose a novel method to initialize the encoding vector for the separation step based on the prior model of the encoding *** results showed that the proposed method outperformed the uniform random initialization by 1.09 and 2.21dB in the source-to-distortion ratio,and 0.20 and 0.23 in PESQ scores for supervised and semi-supervised cases,respectively.

BACKGROUND Perivascular epithelioid cell tumor(PEComa)is a rare mesenchymal tumor that exhibits an epithelioid and spindle cell *** tumor is characterized by immunoreactivity for melanocytic and myogenic markers but can be misdiagnosed as more common tumors with similar characteristics,including gastrointestinal stroma tumors or ***,a subset of PEComas has been reported to harbor a transcription factor binding to TFE3 ***,we report a rare case of TFE3-expressing malignant PEComa arising from the *** SUMMARY A 50-year-old woman presented with abdominal discomfort for 3 *** of laboratory tests were all within the normal ranges,and the patient had no notable medical *** resonance imaging revealed a large tumor on the right side of the pelvic floor,which was originally suspected to be a primary ovarian ***,during surgery,the tumor was revealed to have originated from the ***,the tumor was composed of bundles of spindle cells and sheets of epithelioid *** coagulative necrosis and numerous mitotic figures were *** revealed that the tumor cells were positive for smooth muscle actin,HMB-45,and TFE3 *** involvement of the rectal serosa was identified,leading to a final diagnosis of malignant PEComa of the *** resection was followed by adjuvant *** recurrence or metastasis was observed over a 6-month follow-up *** Malignant PEComa of the mesentery is extremely rare and should be distinguished from morphological mimics through differential diagnosis and immunohistochemistry.

Implementation of Turbulent Mixing over a Stratocumulus-Topped Boundary Layer and Its Impact in a GCM

The effect of a vertical diffusion scheme over a stratocumulus topped boundary layer （STBL） was investigated using the YONU AGCM （Yonsei University Atmospheric General Circulation Model）. To consider the impact of clouds on the turbulence production, the turbulence mixing term, driven by radiative cooling at the cloud top, is implemented as an extended non-local diffusion scheme. In the model with this new scheme, the STBL parameterization significantly influences the lower atmosphere over the tropical and subtropical regions. Consideration of the turbulent mixing within the cloud layer leads to continuous stratocumulus formation. The cloud-top radiative cooling tends to favor more rapid entrainment and produces top-down turbulent mixing. This cooling develops a mixed layer without initiation of deep convection by surface fluxes. Variations in thermodynamical and dynamical features are produced by planetary boundary layer （PBL） cloud development. The simulated stratocumulus induces more mixing of heat and moisture due to the cloud forcing. Over STBL regions, the lower boundary layer becomes warmer and drier. It also weakens vertical motion and zonal trade winds in the eastern Pacific, which indicates that stratocumulus cloud cover plays a role in weakening the Walker circulation; that is, cloud cover damps the tropical circulation.

Development and Experimental Evaluation of Strip Shape Prediction Model for Sendzimir Rolling Mills

It is difficult to obtain the desired strip shape using Sendzimir rolling mills because small diameter work rolls can be easily deformed by the roiling force. To control the strip shape effectively, it is important to understand the relationship between the behavior of the shape actuator and the variation of the strip shape. A numerical model based on the contact element method was proposed for the prediction of strip shape. In this numerical model, the re- lationships between the actuating forces, the roll deflections, the thickness profiles of the entry and exit sides, and the strip shape were considered. The proposed numerical model for strip shape prediction was evaluated by computer simulation and experiment with respect to various AS-U roll and first intermediate roll positions.
