An increased demand for iron is a hallmark of cancer cells and is thought necessary to promote high cell proliferation,tumor progression and *** makes iron metabolism an attractive therapeutic ***,current iron-based therapeutic strategies often lack effectiveness and can elicit off-target *** report here a dual-therapeutic prodrug,DOXjade,that allows for iron chelation chemo-photothermal cancer *** prodrug takes advantage of the clinically approved iron chelator deferasirox(ExJade®)and the topoisomerase 2 inhibitor,doxorubicin(DOX).Loading DOXjade onto ultrathin 2D Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene nanosheets produces a construct,Ti_(3)C_(2)-PVP@DOXjade,that allows the iron chelation and chemotherapeutic functions of DOXjade to be photo-activated at the tumor sites,while potentiating a robust photothermal effect with photothermal conversion efficiencies of up to 40%.Antitumor mechanistic investigations reveal that upon activation,Ti_(3)C_(2)-PVP@DOXjade serves to promote apoptotic cell death and downregulate the iron depletion-induced iron transferrin receptor(TfR).A tumor pH-responsive iron chelation/photothermal/chemotherapy antitumor effect was achieved both in vitro and in *** results of this study highlight what may constitute a promising iron chelation-based phototherapeutic approach to cancer therapy.

Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a non-invasive tumor ablation modality that can be enhanced in combination with concurrent ***,we demonstrated that liposomes containing a bilayer-anchored photosensitizer(porphyrin-phospholipid;PoP)can be loaded with drugs in their aqueous core to improve drug delivery and tumor ablation upon target tissue irradiation with *** the present work,we demonstrate that this concept can be extended to drugs loaded within the hydrophobic bilayer of ***(CTX)is a potent second generation taxane anti-cancer drug that was loaded in the bilayer of liposomes also containing 0.1 molar%PoP,generating CTX-loaded PoP liposomes(CTX-PoP-Lip).CTX-PoP-Lip showed unilamellar vesicle morphology,and exhibited integrity in storage and serum,while maintaining drug stability under laser *** vitro cell killing evaluation showed that red-light laser irradiation induced cytotoxicity in cells incubated with CTX-PoP-Lip,compared to control *** vivo pharmacokinetic analysis revealed that following intravenous administration to mice,CTX and PoP exhibited somewhat altered circulation profiles,suggesting that the CTX may have exchanged with serum factors in ***,when a single treatment of CTX-PoP-Lip with laser irradiation was administered to mice bearing human MIA Paca-2 tumors,tumors were effectively ablated whereas the equivalent chemotherapy and PDT monotherapies were *** results demonstrate the versatility of liposome delivery systems for achieving tumor ablation with chemophototherapy.

Surfactant Assisted Dispersion and Adhesion Behavior of Carbon Nanotubes on Cu—Zr and Cu—Zr—Al Amorphous Powders

Carbon nanotubes （CNTs） were dispersed in gas atomized Cu47.5Zr47.5Al5 （CZA） and CusoZrso （CZ） amorphous powders, in an effort to elucidate the mechanisms of adhesion of CNTs onto amorphous metallic powders. CNTs were homogenously dispersed in water using a zwitterionic （ZW） surfactant. Then CZA and CZ powders were submersed in the ZW-CNTsuspensions with varying amounts of dwell time in an ultrasonic bath. The ZW-CNT- metal powder suspensions were dried, and CNT-metal composite powders were obtained after decomposition of the surfactant by calcination. Zeta potential measurements on ZW-CNT-metal powder suspensions and scanning electron microscopy investigation into the CNT-metal composite powders both indicated an ideal dwell time, for a specific alloy composition, of metallic powders in ZW-CNT suspension to achieve optimal adhesion of CNTs onto amorphous metallic powder surfaces. The results are rationalized on the basis of hydrolysis of metal ions into suspension creating a net positive charge on the metallic powder surfaces, and the interaction between the charged powder surfaces and the charged hydrophilic head groups of ZW, which has the other end attached to CNTs.

This paper discusses an iconmap-based visualization technique that enables multiple geospatial variables to be illustrated in a single GIS raster *** is achieved by extending the conventional pixelbased data structure to an iconic *** this way,spatial patterns generated by the interaction of geographic variables can be disclosed,and geospatial information mining can be readily *** a case study,a visual analysis of soil organic matter and soil nutrients for Shuangliu County in the city of Chengdu,China,was undertaken using the prototype IconMapper software,developed by the *** results show that the static IconMap can accurately exhibit trends in the distribution of organic matter and nutrients in *** dynamic iconmap can both reflect interaction patterns between organic matter and the nutrient variables,and display soil fertility levels in a comprehensive ***,the iconmap-based visualization approach is shown to be a non-fused,exploratory analytical approach for multivariate data analysis and as a result is a valuable method for visually analyzing soil fertility conditions.

The interplay of magnetism and topology opens up the possibility for exotic linear response effects,such as the anomalous Hall effect and the anomalous Nernst effect,which can be strongly enhanced by designing a large Berry curvature in the electronic *** Heusler compounds are a promising class of materials for this purpose because they are versatile,show magnetism,and their electronic structure hosts strong topological ***,we provide a comprehensive study of the intrinsic anomalous transport for magnetic cubic full Heusler compounds and we illustrate that several Heusler compounds outperform the best so far reported *** results reveal the importance of symmetries,especially mirror planes,in combination with magnetism for giant anomalous Hall and Nernst effects,which should be valid in general for linear responses(spin Hall effect,spin orbital torque,etc.)dominated by intrinsic contributions.

A single Dielectric Barrier Discharge(DBD) plasma actuator driven by Alternating Current(AC) power, capable of inducing a starting vortex and a wall jet in quiescent air, is suited for low-Reynolds-number flow control. However, the starting vortex and the wall jet are usually observed after the plasma actuator has been operated for dozens of and hundreds of cycles of the voltage, respectively. The detail of the induced flow field at the initiation stage of the plasma actuator has rarely been addressed. At the initiation stage, a thin jet that provides the impetus for the entrainment of the induced flow at the beginning of the plasma actuation is first observed by using a high-accuracy phase-lock Schlieren technique and a high-speed Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) system. This is the initial form of the momentum transfer from the plasma to the ***, an arched type jet is created by the plasma actuator. In addition, the whole development process of the induced flow field from the starting point of the thin jet to the quasi-steady stage of wall jet is presented for providing a comprehensive understanding of the plasma actuator and proposing a relevant enhancement of the numerical simulation model.

We investigate a set of well-posed interface conditions of viscous fluxes of Navier–Stokes equations,extend them to three-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations and successfully study a temporally turbulent mixing *** evolution of a large vortex structure and the non-dimensional statistical quantities in the mixing layer are numerically *** span-wise energy spectrum of the mixing layer exhibits wide band features,which means that the simulation generates the desired amount of small *** results show that too many small scales are present due to insufficient dissipation and the amount of large scales is low,indicating too much dissipation for large-scale structures.
