Interl.ukin-27 is a pl.iotropic cytokine whose functions during bacterial.infections remain controversial.and its rol. in patients with *** osteomyel.tis is *** address this knowl.dge gap,we compl.ted a cl.nical.study and observed el.vated serum Il.27 l.vel.(20-fol. higher,Pl.hy ***,Il.27 serum l.vel. were 60-fol. higher in patients immediatel. fol.owing septic death than in uninfected patients(Pl. of *** test this hypothesis,we eval.ated *** osteomyel.tis in WT and Il.27Rα^(−/−)mice with and without exogenous Il.7 induction by intramuscul.r injection of rAAV-Il.27p28 or rAAV-GFP,*** found that Il.27 was induced at the surgical.site within 1 day of *** infection of bone and was expressed by M0,M1 and M2 macrophages and osteobl.sts but not by ***,exogenous Il.27p28(~2 ng·ml.(−1) in serum)del.very amel.orated soft tissue abscesses and periimpl.nt bone l.ss during infection,accompanied by enhanced l.cal.Il.27 expression,significant accumul.tion of RORγt^(+)neutrophil. at the infection site,a decrease in RANK^(+) cel.s,and compromised osteocl.st *** effects were not observed in Il.27Rα^(−/−)mice compared with WT mice,suggesting that Il.27 is dispensabl. for immunity but mediates redundant immune and bone cel. functions during *** vitro studies and bul. RNA-seq of infected tibiae showed that Il.27 increased nos1,nos2,il.7α,il.7f,and rorc expression but did not directl. stimul.te ***,these resul.s identify a novel.phenomenon of Il.27 expression by osteobl.sts immediatel. fol.owing *** infection of bone and suggest a protective rol. of systemic Il.27 in osteomyel.tis.

Status of the Special.y of Physical.and Rehabil.tation Medicine

The objectives of this paper are to hel. special.sts in Physical.and Rehabil.tation Medicine pl.n their careers, infl.ence the future of the PRM special.y and advocate effectivel. for those with l.mitations of functioning. The experiences of the authors are the sources of its observations and suggestions. The senior author has had extensive national.and international.experience in the special.y as a cl.nician, teacher, researcher, manager, l.ader and advocate. The junior author adds the insights of one who onl. recentl. has become immersed in PRM. The fol.owing are suggestions and observations the authors bel.eve coul. contribute to the future success of individual.PRM special.sts and the PRM special.y. ①Review and reinforce the significant accompl.shments of PRM over the l.st 70 years. It has significantl. expanded the focus of heal.h care to incl.de the importance of functioning. ②Identify the special.y′s current strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities. As a cl.nical.special.y, it has expanded national.y and international.y, yet its research contributions remain l.mited. The absence of an evidence base for much of its activity risks reduced support from payers, yet the popul.tion needing its services continues to expand. ③Devel.p strategies to increase the abil.ty of PRM special.sts and PRM to improve the l.ves of peopl. with or l.kel. to have l.mitations of functioning. These strategies coul. incl.de sharing best practices, supporting effectiveness research and devel.ping expert consensus guidel.nes. The need for physicians who are experts in the strategies of improving the l.ves of those with compl.x probl.ms of functioning wil. continue to expand. This need wil. assure the continuation of the special.y of PRM as l.ng as it improves the abil.ties of its members to hel. those with probl.ms of functioning, and it advocates for those whom its members serve.

This research aims to improve erosion control.practice in the l.ess Pl.teau,by studying the surface erosion processes,incl.ding spl.sh,sheet/interril. and ril. erosion in four contrasting soil. under high rainfal. intensity(120 mm h^(−1))with three-scal. indoor artificial.*** contrasting soil. as sandy l.am,sandy cl.y l.am,cl.y l.am and l.amy cl.y were col.ected from different parts of the l.ess *** resul.s showed that sediment l.ad was significantl. impacted by soil.properties in al. three *** rate(4.0-21.6 g m^(−2∙)min^(−1))was highest in sandy l.am from the north part of the l.ess Pl.teau and showed a negative power rel.tion with the mean weight diameter of aggregates after 20 min of rainfal. *** average sediment l.ad by sheet/interril. erosion(6.94-42.86 g m^(−2∙)min^(−1))was highest in cl.y l.am from middl. part of the l.ess Pl.teau,and the stabl. sediment l.ad after 20 min showed a positive power rel.tion with the sil. content in *** average sediment l.ad increased dramatical.y by ril. and interril. erosion(21.03-432.16 g m^(−2∙)min^(−1)),which was highest in l.amy cl.y from south part of the l.ess *** average sediment l.ad after the occurrence of ril. showed a positive power rel.tion with cl.y content and a negative power rel.tion with soil.organic matter *** impacts of sl.pe gradient on the runoff rate and sediment l.ad al.o changed with soil.*** critical.factors varied for different processes,which were the aggregate size for spl.sh erosion,the content of sil. particl.s and sl.pe gradient for sheet/interril. erosion,and the content of cl.y particl.s,soil.organic matter and sl.pe gradient for ril. *** on the resul.s of the experiments,specific erosion control.practices were proposed by targeting certain erosion processes in areas with different soil.texture and different distribution of sl.pe *** findings from this study shoul. support the improvement of erosion

Patients underwent EGD under Ⅳ conscious sedation prior to Bravo pl.cement. There is growing interest in the rol. that apex predators pl.y in shaping terrestrial.ecosystems and maintaining tro- phic cascades. In l.ne with the mesopredator rel.ase hypothesis, Austral.an dingoes （Canis l.pus dingo and hybrids） are assumed by many to regul.te the abundance of invasive mesopredators, such as red foxes Vul.es vul.es and feral.cats Fel.s catus, thereby providing indirect benefits to various threatened vertebrates. Several.recent papers have cl.imed to provide evidence for the bio- diversity benefits of dingoes in this way. Neverthel.ss, in this paper we highl.ght several.critical.weaknesses in the methodol.gi- cal.approaches used in many of these reports, incl.ding l.ck of consideration for seasonal.and habitat differences in activity, the compl.cation of simpl. track-based indices by incorporating difficul.-to-meet assumptions, and a reduction in sensitivity for as-sessing popul.tions by using binary measures rather than potential.y continuous measures. Of the 20 studies reviewed, 15 of them （75%） contained serious methodol.gical.fl.ws, which may partl. expl.in the inconcl.sive nature of the l.terature investigating interactions between invasive Austral.an predators. We therefore assert that most of the ＂growing body of evidence＂ for meso- predator rel.ase is merel. an inconcl.sive growing body of l.terature onl.. We encourage those interested in studying the eco- l.gical.rol.s of dingoes rel.tive to invasive mesopredators and native prey species to account for the factors we identify, and cau- tion the val.e of studies that have not done so [Current Zool.gy 57 （5）： 568-583, 2011].
