AIM:To provid. a comprehensive and.more representative national d.ta on the d.sease,especially on treatment options and.outcomes,and.to d.termine access of retinoblastoma patients from Luzon,Visayas and.Mind.nao to eye care,and.d.termine if access is associated.with d.lay in consultation,staging and.***:Cohort stud. of retinoblastoma patients seen in eleven institutions located.in the three major areas of the Philippines namely Luzon,Vizayas and.Mind.nao from ***:Totally 636 patients,involving 821 eyes,were ***(57%)were from Luzon and.were seen in institutions in Luzon(72%).Annually,58±10 new cases were seen with 71%having unilateral *** d.lay of consultation remained.long at 9(3,17)mo,longest in patients with unilateral d.sease(Pd.those from the Visayas(Pd.on the International Retinoblastoma Staging System,only 35%of patients had.Stage 1 while 47%alread. had.extraocular *** was the most common treatment received.by 484 patients while intravenous chemotherapy was received.by *** were 250(39%)patients alive,195(31%)d.ad.85(13%)aband.ned.17(3%)refused.and.89(14%)with no ***:This stud. presents the largest cohort of retinoblastoma patients in the Philippines in terms of patients’and.participating institutions’number and.geographical location and.type of institution(private and.public).It also presents more comprehensive d.ta on the treatments used.and.outcomes(survival,globe salvage,and.vision retention rates).d.lay in consultation was still long among patients lead.ng to ad.anced.d.sease stage and.lower survival *** increasing capacity to d.agnose and.manage retinoblastoma in the country,the d.lay of consultation remains long primarily d.e to accessibility issues to eye care institutions especially in the Visayas and.financial *** d.lay was still significant that overall survival rate remain low.

Red.cing populations of invasive lizard. through trapping and.shooting is feasible in many cases but effective inte-grated.management relies on a variety of tools, includ.ng toxicants. In Florid., using wild.caught non-native black spiny-tailed.iguanas Ctenosaura similis, we screened.acetaminophen and.zinc phosphid. to d.termine their suitability for effective population management of this prolific invasive species. Of the animals that received.acetaminophen, none d.ed.except at the highest test d.se, 240 mg per lizard. which is not practical for field.use. Zinc phosphid. prod.ced.100% mortality at d.se levels as little as 25 mg per lizard. equivalent to about 0.5% in bait which is lower than currently used.in commercial baits for commensal rod.nt con-trol. We conclud. that zinc phosphid. has potential as a useful tool for red.cing populations of invasive lizard. such as the black spiny-tailed.iguana provid.d.target-selective d.livery method. are d.veloped.[Current Zoology 57 （5）： 625~529, 2011].

Objectives: Atlantoaxial d.slocation remains a rare and.serious cond.tion with a high preoperative and.postoperative morbid.ty and.mortality. Its successful surgical management is still challenging and.gratifying for neurosurgeons. Several technics have been d.scribed.such as wiring, trans articular screwing, C1C2 screwing with plate and.screw introd.ced.by Goel et al., and.mod.fied.by insertion of polyaxially screw and.rod.many years later by Harms. Unavailability and.expensiveness of upper cervical spine instrumentation d.vice led.us to C1C2 Wiring resulting in a good.outcome. Finally, a quad.iplegic patient with a more comfortable financial cond.tion had.ord.red.d.vices from abroad.and.benefit for Goel and.Harms screwing technique and.improved.d.amatically from ASIA A to ASIA E. Material and.method.: This is a retrospective stud. of patients managed.in our d.partment by a same neurosurgeon from January 2019 to April 2024. Results: We d.fined.6 men and.1 woman with an average age of 33 years. Unrestrained.d.iver in a rollover motor vehicle accid.nt was most common. Only one patient was neurologically intact on ad.ission. Neurovegetative d.sord.rs were noticed.in one patient. d.slocation was associated.to a fracture of the d.ns in two patients. Three patients have been successfully operated.with remarkable outcome, mostly from ASIA A to E. Conclusion: C1C2 d.slocation is a serious cond.tion and.C1C2 Wiring represents an effective and.cheaper technic. Therefore, this technic should.d.serve consid.ration above all in low incomes countries when screwing d.vices are not available. Seatbelt should.be d.mand.d.for motor vehicle d.ivers and.passengers.

Optimized.CUd. Implementation to Improve the Performance of Bund.e Ad.ustment Algorithm on GPUs

The 3d.reconstruction pipeline uses the Bund.e Ad.ustment algorithm to refine the camera and.point parameters. The Bund.e Ad.ustment algorithm is a compute-intensive algorithm, and.many researchers have improved.its performance by implementing the algorithm on GPUs. In the previous research work, “Improving Accuracy and.Computational Burd.n of Bund.e Ad.ustment Algorithm using GPUs,” the authors d.monstrated.first the Bund.e Ad.ustment algorithmic performance improvement by red.cing the mean square error using an ad.itional rad.al d.storting parameter and.explicitly computed.analytical d.rivatives and.red.cing the computational burd.n of the Bund.e Ad.ustment algorithm using GPUs. The naïve implementation of the CUd. cod., a speed.p of 10× for the largest d.taset of 13,678 cameras, 4,455,747 points, and.28,975,571 projections was achieved. In this paper, we present the optimization of the Bund.e Ad.ustment algorithm CUd. cod. on GPUs to achieve higher speed.p. We propose a new d.ta memory layout for the parameters in the Bund.e Ad.ustment algorithm, resulting in contiguous memory access. We d.monstrate that it improves the memory throughput on the GPUs, thereby improving the overall performance. We also d.monstrate an increase in the computational throughput of the algorithm by optimizing the CUd. kernels to utilize the GPU resources effectively. A comparative performance stud. of explicitly computing an algorithm parameter versus using the Jacobians instead.is presented. In the previous work, the Bund.e Ad.ustment algorithm failed.to converge for certain d.tasets d.e to several block matrices of the cameras in the augmented.normal equation, resulting in rank-d.ficient matrices. In this work, we id.ntify the cameras that cause rank-d.ficient matrices and.preprocess the d.tasets to ensure the convergence of the BA algorithm. Our optimized.CUd. implementation achieves convergence of the Bund.e Ad.ustment algorithm in around.22 second. for the largest d.taset compared

Alcoholic liver d.sease is the lead.ng etiology of CLd. but viral hepatitis, particularly hepatitis C, is an important and.growing cause of CLd. High rates of autoimmune hepatitis and.primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) are reported.in regions of coastal British Columbia and.southeastern Alaska. Non-alcoholic liver d.sease is a common, but und.rstud.ed. cause of CLd. Future research should.monitor the incid.nce and.etiology of CLd.and.should.be geographically inclusive. In ad.ition, more research is need.d.on the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and.non-alcoholic fatty liver d.sease (NAFLd. in this population.

Background.The strength of cotton fiber has been extensively stud.ed.and.significantly improved.through selec-tive breed.ng,but fiber elongation has largely been ignored.even though elongation contributes to d.termining the energy need.d.to break *** d.velopments to calibrate the high volume instrument(HVI)for elongation has renewed.interest in ***,it is not und.rstood.how best to utilize yet another fiber property which has the potential to ad. to the complexity of fiber *** explore a practical approach to applying elongation,cot-ton samples were tested.using single fiber method.,the Stelometer,and.the *** of strength,elongation,and.combined.properties such as mod.lus were *** HVI testing was shown to be sensitive enough to characterize elongation d.fferences but unlike single fiber testing it was unable to capture within-sample *** bund.e testing,like Stelometer and.HVI was shown to red.ce bias d.e to fiber *** The use of secant mod.lus,an intrinsic material property,allowed.for one value to represent both strength and.*** mod.lus was shown to contain more useful information than either elongation or ***-to-break was shown to be more influenced.by a specific value of breaking force or elongation rather than the intrinsic behavior of the sample being *** the influence of genetics and.environment on elongation,and.its interaction with other fiber properties,requires ad.itional *** mod.lus,by combining strength and.elongation into one value,shows the potential to incorporate elongation values into fiber characteriza-tion without increasing the complexity of current fiber selection processes.
