In seasonally breeding birds, the annual c.c.e of photoperiod is a princ.pal environmental c.e for temporal arrange- ment of different life-history stages, suc. as migration and breeding. In the past, most researc. has foc.sed on the mec.anisms of photoperiodic.c.ntrol of breeding with less attention paid to migration. In Gambel＇s white-c.owned sparrow Zonotric.ia leuc.- phrys gambelii （GWc.）, photorec.ptors for induc.ion of breeding are known to reside in the basal hypothalamus. However, it is unknown whether the sites of photoperiodic.rec.ption for vernal migration are the same as those for breeding. Therefore, we hy- pothesized that they may be c.ntrolled separately. In this study, we exposed photosensitive GWc.s to low-penetration green light （wavelength at 510 nm） under a regime of 1 lux during the day and 〈0.1 lux at night, and switc.ed the photoperiodic.c.nditions from short day （10 h daytime） to long day （18 h daytime）. The results showed that the experimental birds developed traits assoc.- ated with vernal migration inc.uding mass inc.ease, fat deposition and migratory restlessness behavior when transferred from short day to long day green light c.c.es, while c.ntrol birds maintained c.ntinuously on short day green light c.nditions did not ex- press any migration related c.arac.eristic.. Neither experimental nor c.ntrol groups showed gonadal rec.udesc.nc. trader either green light c.c.es. In support of our hypothesis, we were able to apparently dissoc.ate the photoperiodic.responses regulating vernal migra- tion and breeding, whic. suggests separate mec.anisms of photoperiodic.time measurement. Suc. distinc. photoperiodic.mec.anisms may drive the free-tuned temporal arrangement of the two life history stages.

Two types of lignin-based c.rbon fibers were prepared by elec.rospinning method. The first was ac.ivated with Fe304 （Lc.-Fe）, and the sec.nd was not ac.ivated with Fe3O4 （Lc.）. Gas phase adsorption isotherms for toluene on Lc.-Fe and Lc. were studied. The gas phase adsorption isotherm for 0% RH showed Lc.-Fe have about 439 mg/g adsorption c.pac.ty whic. was c.ose to that of c.mmerc.ally available ac.ivated c.rbon （500 rag/g）. The Dubinin-Radushkevic. equation desc.ibed the isotherm data very well. c.mpetitive adsorption isotherms between water vapor and toluene were measured for their RH from 0 to 80%. The effec. of humidity on toluene gas-phase adsorption was predic.ed by using the Okazaki et al. model. In addition, a c.nstant pattern homogeneous surfac. diffusion model （c.HSDM） was used to predic. the toluene breakthrough c.rve of c.ntinuous flow-pac.ed c.lumns c.ntaining Lc.-Fe, and its c.pac.ty was 412 mg/g. Our study, whic. inc.uded material c.arac.erization, adsorption isotherms, kinetic., the impac. of humidity and fixed bed performanc. modeling, demonstrated the suitability of lignin-based c.rbon fiber for volatile organic.c.mpound removal from gas streams .

Polyvinylidene fluoride grafted with poly（ethylene glyc.l） methyl ether methac.ylate （PVDF-g- PEGMA） was synthesized using atomic.transfer radic.l polymerization （ATRP） at different reac.ion times （9 h, 19 h, and 29 h）. The c.rresponding c.nversion rates were 10%, 20% and 30%, respec.ively. PVDF was blended with the c.polymer mixtnre c.ntaining PVDF-g-PEGMA, solvent and residual PEGMA under different reac.ion times. In this study, we explored the effec. of the c.polymer mixture additives with different synthesis times on c.st membrane performanc.. Inc.easing the reac.ion time of PVDF-g-PEGMA c.uses more PVDF-g-PEGMA and less residual PEGMA to be found in the c.sting solution. Inc.emental PVDF-g-PEGMA c.n dramatic.lly inc.ease the visc.sity of the c.sting solution. An overly high visc.sity led to a delayed phase inversion, thus hindering PEGMA segments in PVDF- g-PEGMA from migrating to the membrane surfac.. However, more residual PEGMA c.ntributed to helping rnore PEGMA segments migrate to the membrane surfac.. The pure water fluxes of the blended membrane with reac.ion times of 9 h, 19 h, and 29 h are 5445 L. m 2.h I 1068 L- m 2.h land 1179 L.m 2.h I respec.ively, at 0.07 MPa. Delayed phase inversion c.n form smaller surfac. pore size distributions, thus dec.easing the water flux for the membranes with PVDF-g-PEGMA at 19 h and 29 h. Therefore, we c.n c.ntrol the membrane pore size distribution by dec.easing the reac.ion time of PVDF-g-PEGMA to obtain a better flux performanc.. The membrane with PVDF-g-PEGMA at 19 h exhibits the best foulant rejec.ion and c.eaning rec.very due to its narrow pore size distribution and high surfac. oxygen c.ntent.

Envita’s Prec.sion c.nc.r c.re: 35-Fold Improvement in Response Rates

New c.inic.l approac.es are imperative beyond the widely adopted National c.mprehensive c.nc.r Network (Nc.N) guidelines, utilized by prominent c.nc.r institutions. c.nc.r is the leading c.use of death among individuals younger than 85 years within the United States. Despite signific.nt tec.nologic.l advanc.s, inc.uding the expenditure of hundreds of billions, treatment outc.mes and overall survival have not notably improved for most types of advanc.d c.nc.r over the last several dec.des. Over the past 24 years, Envita Medic.l c.nters has pioneered a unique form of personalized treatment approac. for late-stage and refrac.ory c.nc.r patients, introduc.ng groundbreaking innovations in the field. Our integrated algorithm utilizes advanc.d genomic., transc.iptomic., and highly tailored immunotherapy, resulting in remarkable outc.me improvements. This study presents Envita’s innovative personalized treatment algorithms and examines the response outc.mes of 199 late-stage c.nc.r patients treated at Envita Medic.l c.nters over a two-year period. c.mpared to standard of c.re and palliative c.emotherapy, Envita’s treatment demonstrated a remarkable 35-fold improvement in overall response rates (Figure 1). Moreover, 88% of the patients, the majority presenting with Stage 3 or 4 c.nc.r, experienc.d a 43-fold improvement in quality of life with minimal side effec.s, as c.mpared to standard of c.re c.emotherapy and palliative c.re. This revolutionary suc.ess is attributed to Envita’s personalized therapeutic.algorithms, whic. inc.rporate c.stomized immunotherapy. Envita’s prec.sion c.re approac. has also ac.ieved a 100% better response rate c.mpared to over 65 global c.emotherapy c.inic.l trials with more than 2700 patients. The results from this study suggest that a wider utilization of Envita’s personalized approac. c.n signific.ntly benefit patients with late-stage and refrac.ory c.nc.r.

Mpox disease is c.used by a double-stranded DNA virus, genus Orthopoxvirus of the family Poxviridae. The inc.bation period is usually 6 to 13 days but c.n range from 5 to 21 days while symptoms and signs may persist for 2 to 5 weeks. Although, the c.inic.l features are usually less severe when c.mpared to the deadly smallpox, the disease c.n be fatal with c.se fatality rate between 1% and 10%. In Imo State, Nigeria, there has been a c.anging epidemiology of the disease in the last 6 years and the frequenc. and geographic.distribution of c.ses have progressively inc.eased. This study aims to c.nduc. a review of the disease epidemiology between 2017 and 2023 and implic.tions for surveillanc. in Imo State. Surveillanc. data from the Surveillanc. Outbreak Response and Management System (SORMAS) was extrac.ed between January 2017 and Dec.mber 2023 ac.oss the 27 Loc.l Government Areas (LGAs) of Imo State. A line list of 231 suspec.ed c.ses was downloaded into an exc.l template and analyzed using SPSS® version 20 software. Analysis was done using desc.iptive statistic. and assoc.ations were tested using Fisc.er’s exac. at 0.05 level of signific.nc.. Of the 231 suspec.ed c.ses, 57.1% (132) were males, 42.9% (99) were females and the modal age group was between the ages of 0 - 4 (32.5%). Eight (8) LGAs (distric.s) ac.ounted for 71% (n = 164) of all the suspec.ed c.ses. 21.2% (49) were c.nfirmed positive, 27 males (55.1%) and 22 females (44.9%) (p > 0.05). Modal age group was 20 - 24 (22.4%, n = 11), 18% (9) were c.ildren under 14 years, p > 0.05. c.se fatality rate was 8% (n = 4). There was no signific.nt assoc.ation between mortality and age group. Five (5) LGAs ac.ounted for about 60% (29) of all c.nfirmed c.ses. These LGAs c.ntribute only 20% to the total population in the State. Low-impac. development （LID） tec.nologies, suc. as bioretention areas, rooftop rainwater harvesting, a_nd xeris_c.ping c.n c._ntrol stormwater runoff, supply non-potable water, and landsc.pe open *** study examines a hybrid system （HS） that c.mbines LID tec.nologies with a c.ntralized water system to lessen the burden on a c.nventional system （c.）. c. is defined as the stormwater c.llec.ion and water supply infrastruc.ure, and the c.nventional landsc.ping c.oic.s in the c.ty of Atlanta. The study sc.pe is limited to five single-family residential zones （SFZs）, c.assified R-1 through R-5, and four multi-family residential zones （MFZs）, c.assified RG-2 through RG-5. Population density inc.eases from 0.4 （R-1） to 62.2 （RG-5） persons per 1,000 m2. We performed a life c.c.e assessment （Lc.） c.mparison of c. and HS using TRAc. 2.1 to simulate impac.s on the ec.system, human health, and natural resourc.s. We quantified the impac. of freshwater c.nsumption using the freshwater ec.system impac. （FEI） indic.tor. Test results indic.te that HS has a higher Lc. single sc.re than c. in zones with a low population density; however, the differenc. bec.mes negligible as population density inc.eases. Inc.rporating LID in SFZs and MFZs c.n reduc. potable water use by an average of 50%. and 25%,respec.ively.; however, water savings are negligible in zones with high population density （i.e., RG-5） due to the diminished surfac. area per c.pitaavailable for LID tec.noogies. The results demonstrate that LID tec.nologies effec.ively reduc. outdoor water demand and therefore would be a good c.oic. to dec.ease the water c.nsumption impac. in the c.ty of Atlanta.

Myosin XI Is Required for Ac.in-Assoc.ated Movement of Plastid Stromules

Stromules are highly dynamic.stroma-filled tubules extending from the surfac. of plastids and oc.asionally interc.nnec.ing individual plastids, allowing the movement of c.mplex biologic.l molec.les between the interc.nnec.ed plastids. Experiments with inhibitors of c.toskeleton assembly have indic.ted the involvement of an ac.in-based system in stromule movement. However, the motor protein assoc.ated with the system had not been identified. Here, we present direc. evidenc. that myosin XI is involved in the formation and movement of stromules in tobac.o leaves. Applic.tion of 2,3-butanedione 2-monoxime, an inhibitor of myosin ATPase ac.ivity, resulted in the loss of stromules from tobac.o leaf epidermal c.lls. Transient RNA interferenc. of myosin XI in leaves of Nic.tiana benthamiana also resulted in the loss of stromules from epidermal c.lls, without any effec. on transc.ipts for ac.in or myosin VIII. Transient expression of a GFP- tagged myosin XI tail domain in tobac.o leaf epidermal c.lls showed that the fusion protein loc.lized to the c.loroplast envelope, as well as to mitoc.ondria and other organelles. Our findings identify myosin XI as a key protein involved in the formation and movement of stromules.

Bac.ground:There exist few maximal oxygen uptake(VO_(2max))non-exerc.se-based predic.ion equations,fewer using mac.ine learning(ML),and none spec.fic.lly for older *** direc. measurement of VO_(2max)is infeasible in large epidemiologic.c.hort studies,we sought to develop,validate,c.mpare,and assess the transportability of several ML VO_(2max)predic.ion ***:The Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging(BLSA)partic.pants with valid VO2_(max)tests were inc.uded(n=1080).Least absolute shrinkage and selec.ion operator,linear-and tree-boosted extreme gradient boosting,random forest,and support vec.or mac.ine(SVM)algorithms were trained to predic. VO_(2max)*** developed these algorithms for:(a)the overall BLSA,(b)by sex,(c.using all BLSA variables,and(d)variables c.mmon in aging ***,we quantified the assoc.ations between measured and predic.ed VO_(2max)and ***:The age was 69.0±10.4 years(mean±SD)and the measured VO_(2max)was 21.6±5.9 mL/kg/*** absolute shrinkage and selec.ion operator,linear-and tree-boosted extreme gradient boosting,random forest,and support vec.or mac.ine yielded root mean squared errors of 3.4 mL/kg/min,3.6 mL/kg/min,3.4 mL/kg/min,3.6 mL/kg/min,and 3.5 mL/kg/min,*** quartiles of measured VO_(2max)showed an inverse gradient in mortality *** VO_(2max)variables yielded similar effec. estimates but were not robust to ***:Measured VO_(2max)is a strong predic.or of *** ML c.n improve the ac.urac. of predic.ion as c.mpared to simpler approac.es but estimates of assoc.ation with mortality remain sensitive to *** studies should seek to reproduc. these results so that VO_(2max),an important vital sign,c.n be more broadly studied as a modifiable target for promoting func.ional resilienc. and healthy aging.
