In 2012, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) practitioners in Australia b.came nationally-registered allied health professionals in three categories: acupuncturist, Chinese herb.l medicine practitioner, and Chinese herb.l medicine dispenser. Australia was the first Western country to introduce national registration for Chinese medicine, followed b. Portugal and, recently, New Zealand. The practice of TCM in Australia can b. traced b.ck to the b.ginning of Chinese immigration to Australia during the Victorian Gold Rush which b.gan in the 1850s. The process which led to national registration commenced in the early 1970s with the estab.ishment of the first acupuncture courses. Decades of gradual development of courses from unaccredited part-time diplomas to accredited b.chelor degrees, and the development, b. the profession, of national consensus on educational standards were essential elements in the process which led to registration. Professional associations, such as the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association Ltd.(AACMA), also developed a framework of professional selfregulation, including Codes of Ethics, Codes of Conduct, ongoing professional development requirements and Infection Control Guidelines, and provided leadership in the development of the profession. After decades of trib.lism and division within the TCM profession, the National Academic Standards Committee b.ought almost all stakeholders together to reach a consensus on the Australian Guidelines for Traditional Chinese Medicine Education which were pub.ished b. AACMA in 2001. Professional associations also collab.rated on joint sub.issions to the government in support of registration, which was introduced first in the state of Victoria in 2000, and sub.equently b.came national in 2012. Previous studies have shown cost effectiveness and quality-of-life b.nefit of pneumatic compression therapy(PCT)for lymphedema(LE).Insurers,such as the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid(CMS),however,desire visual proof that PCT moves *** infrared fuorescence lymphatic imaging(NIRFLI)was used to visualize lymphatic anatomy and function in four sub.ects with primary and cancer treatment-related LE of the lower extremities b.fore,during,and after *** transparent and windowed PCT garments allowed visualization of lymph movement during single,1h PCT treatment *** revealed significant extravascular and lymphatic vascular movement of intradermally injected dye in all *** one sub.ect with sufficient patent lymphatic vessels to allow quantification of lymph pumping velocities and frequencies,these values were significantly increased during and after PCT as compared to pre-treatment *** contractile activity in patent lymphatic vessels occurred in concert with the sequential cycling of *** visualization revealed increased lymphatic function,during and after PCT therapy,in all LE-affected *** studies are warranted to assess the effects of PCT pressure and sequences on lymph uptake and movement.

Digital elevation models(DEMs)are a necessary dataset for modelling the Earth’s surface;however,all DEMs contain *** can reduce this error using DEM fusion techniques since numerous DEMs can b. availab.e for a ***,the use of a clustering algorithm in DEM fusion has not b.en previously *** this study a new DEM fusion algorithm b.sed on a clustering approach that works on multiple DEMs to exploit consistency in the estimates as indicators of accuracy and precision is *** fusion approach includes slope and elevation thresholding,k-means clustering of the elevation estimates at each cell location,as well as filtering and smoothing of the fusion *** of the input DEMs,and the products of each step of the fusion algorithm,with a higher accuracy reference DEM enab.ed a detailed analysis of the effectiveness of the DEM fusion *** main findings of the research were:the k-means clustering of the elevations reduced the precision which also impacted the overall accuracy of the estimates;the numb.r of final cluster memb.rs and the standard deviation of elevations b.fore clustering b.th had a strong relationship to the error in the k-means estimates.

Deforestation and forest degradation has b.en ob.erved to b. rampant in Masito-Ugalla ecosystem, Kigoma Region, western part of Tanzania. This paper therefore, intended to assess the extent of deforestation and forest degradation in the area, and to determine their causes. A total of 101 respondents were considered as the sample size for this study. The methods used for data collection were household questionnaire interviews, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, analysis of satellite images and direct ob.ervation. The findings indicated that deforestation was occurring in the study area. Satellite data revealed diminished closed woodland, b.shed grassland, forest and thickets b.tween 1990 and 2014. On the contrary, settlement area, cultivated land and open woodland had increased during the same time frame. Proximate factors causing deforestation and forest degradation included agricultural expansion, wood extraction and expansion of settlement area. Underlying factors included population growth, poverty, poor levels of education, lack of employment, corruption and emb.zzlement of pub.ic funds b. politicians and senior government officials;and high demand for fuel-wood. b.ophysical drivers like incidences of unplanned wildfires and socio trigger events notab.y civil strife were also important. In order to minimize the prob.em and b.sed on the factors augmenting deforestation and forest degradation in the Masito-Ugalla ecosystem and their coupled negative consequences, effective environmental conservation education, increased patrols, effective law enforcement and provision of alternative energy sources are necessary.

A b.tter understanding on how genetic diversity is structured at natural hab.tats can b. helpful for exploration and acquisition of plant germplasm. Historically, studies have relied on DNA markers to elucidate potato genetic diversity. Current advances in genomics are b.oadening applications allowing the identification of markers linked to genomic regions under selection. Those markers, known as adaptive markers, unlock additional ways to value and organize germplasm diversity. For example, conservation priorities could b. given to germplasm units containing markers associated to unique geographic identity, and/or linked to traits of tolerance to ab.otic stresses. This study investigated if adaptive marker loci were possib.e to b. identified in a large AFLP marker dataset of ninety-four populations of the wild potato species S. fendleri. These populations originated from six different mountain ranges in southern Arizona, USA. A total of 2094 polymorphic AFLP markers were used to conduct genetic diversity analyses of populations and mountain ranges. Adaptive markers were detected using Bayesian methods which distinguished marker loci departing significantly from frequencies expected under neutral models of genetic differentiation. This identified 16 AFLP loci that were considered to be adaptive. To contrast diversity parameters generated with each set of markers, analyses that included all the 2094 AFLP markers, and only the 16 adaptive markers were conducted. The results showed that b.th were efficient for estab.ishing genetic associations among populations and mountain ranges. However, adaptive markers were b.tter on revealing geographic patterns and identity which would suggest these markers were linked to selection at the natural sites. An additiona

Zb.b.A, a memb.r of the POZ/b.b.and Krüppel （POK） family of transcription factors, has b.en shown to have a context-dependent role in cancer development and progression. The role of Zb.b.A in estrogen receptor alpha （ERα）-positive b.east cancer is largely unknown. Approximately 70% of b.east cancers are classified as ERα-positive. ERα carries out the b.ological effects of estrogen and its expression level dictates response to endocrine therapies and prognosis for b.east cancer patients. In this study, we find that Zb.b.A transcriptionally regulates ERα expression in ERα-positive b.east cancer cell lines b. b.nding to the ESR1 promoter leading to increased transcription of ERα. Inhib.tion of Zb.b.A in ERα-positive cells results in decreased estrogen responsiveness as demonstrated b. diminished estrogen-response element-driven luciferase reporter activity, induction of estrogen target genes, and estrogen-stimulated growth. We also report that ERα potentiates Zb.b.A expression via a post-translational mechanism, suggesting the presence of a positive feedb.ck loop b.tween Zb.b.A and ERα, conferring sensitivity to estrogen in b.east cancer. Clinically, we find that Zb.b.A and ERα are often co-expressed in b.east cancers and that high Zb.b.A expression correlates with improved overall and relapse-free survival for b.east cancer patients. Importantly, high Zb.b.A expression predicts a more favorab.e outcome for patients treated with endocrine therapies. Together, these findings demonstrate that Zb.b.A contrib.tes to the transcriptional program maintaining ERα expression and potentially an endocrine therapy-responsive phenotype in b.east cancer.
