Acute or worsening heart failure is a common reason for hospitalization which carries a high mortality. Prompt diagnosis or exclusion of Hf and its cause and precipitating factors can improve the quality and efficiency of care, shorten hospital stay, reduce readmission and improve prognosis. While the clinician remains central to reaching a clinical diagnosis of heart failure, the use of traditional and novel diagnostic technologies will improve the specificity and sensitivity of the diagnosis of heart failure diagnosis and provide insights into its pathophysiogical profile and help tailor therapy to individual patient need. Chest X-rays and electrocardiograms are generally available;echocardiograms less so. Novel technologies include both invasive and non-invasive methods to detect increases in intrathoracic fluid, pulmonary congestion, left ventricular filling pressures, cardiac output and vascular function. However, few of these technologies have been subjected to randomised controlled trials investigating their ability to improve patient management.

Heart failure is common in older people and its prevalence is *** Heart ＇omics＇ in AgEing（HOMAgE） project aims to provide a biomarker approach that will improve the early diagnosis of heart failure.A large clinical database,based on（1） prospective population studies or（2） cross-sectional,prospective studies or randomized controlled trials（RCTs） of patients at risk for or with overt cardiovascular disease will be constructed to determine most promising ＇omics＇-based biomarkers to identify the risk of developing heart failure and/or *** studies,patient cohorts and RCTs are eligible for inclusion in the common database,if they received ethical approval to obtain and share data and have baseline information on cardiovascular risk ***,the HOMAgE database includes 43,065 subjects,from 20 studies in eight European countries,including healthy subjects from three population studies in france,Belgium and Italy（n = 7,124）,patients with heart failure（n = 4,312） from four cohorts in the UK,Spain and Switzerland and patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease（n = 31,629） in 13 *** is anticipated that more partners will join the consortium and enlarge the pooled *** large merged database will be a useful resource with which to identify candidate biomarkers that play a role in the mechanism underlying the onset and progression of heart failure.

The Soft X-ray Imager(SXI)is part of the scientific payload of the Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)*** is a joint science mission between the European Space Agency(ESA)and the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)and is due for launch in *** is a compact X-ray telescope with a wide field-of-view(fOV)capable of encompassing large portions of Earth’s magnetosphere from the vantage point of the SMILE *** is sensitive to the soft X-rays produced by the Solar Wind Charge eXchange(SWCX)process produced when heavy ions of solar wind origin interact with neutral particles in Earth’s *** provides a mechanism for boundary detection within the magnetosphere,such as the position of Earth’s magnetopause,because the solar wind heavy ions have a very low density in regions of closed magnetic field *** sensitivity of the SXI is such that it can potentially track movements of the magnetopause on timescales of a few minutes and the orbit of SMILE will enable such movements to be tracked for segments lasting many *** is led by the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom(UK)with collaborating organisations on hardware,software and science support within the UK,Europe,China and the United States.

Background The strength of cotton fiber has been extensively studied and significantly improved through selec-tive breeding,but fiber elongation has largely been ignored,even though elongation contributes to determining the energy needed to break *** developments to calibrate the high volume instrument(HVI)for elongation has renewed interest in ***,it is not understood how best to utilize yet another fiber property which has the potential to add to the complexity of fiber *** explore a practical approach to applying elongation,cot-ton samples were tested using single fiber methods,the Stelometer,and the *** of strength,elongation,and combined properties such as modulus were *** HVI testing was shown to be sensitive enough to characterize elongation differences but unlike single fiber testing it was unable to capture within-sample *** bundle testing,like Stelometer and HVI was shown to reduce bias due to fiber *** The use of secant modulus,an intrinsic material property,allowed for one value to represent both strength and *** modulus was shown to contain more useful information than either elongation or ***-to-break was shown to be more influenced by a specific value of breaking force or elongation rather than the intrinsic behavior of the sample being *** the influence of genetics and environment on elongation,and its interaction with other fiber properties,requires additional *** modulus,by combining strength and elongation into one value,shows the potential to incorporate elongation values into fiber characteriza-tion without increasing the complexity of current fiber selection processes.

Human induced pluripotent stem cell(hiPSC)-derived kidney organoids have prospective applications ranging from basic disease modelling to personalised ***,there remains a necessity to refine the bio-physical and biochemical parameters that govern kidney organoid *** within fully-controllable and physiologically relevant 3D growth environments will be critical to improving organoid reproducibility and ***,we matured hiPSC-derived kidney organoids within fully synthetic self-assembling peptide hydrogels(SAPHs)of variable stiffness(storage modulus,g′).The resulting organoids con-tained complex structures comparable to those differentiated within the animal-derived matrix,***-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)was then used to compare organoids matured within SAPHs to those grown within Matrigel or at the air-liquid interface.A total of 13,179 cells were analysed,revealing 14 distinct *** compositional analysis revealed a larger proportion of nephron cell types within Transwell-derived organoids,while SAPH-derived organoids were enriched for stromal-associated cell ***,dif-ferentiation within a higher g’SAPH generated podocytes with more mature gene expression ***-tionally,maturation within a 3D microenvironment significantly reduced the derivation of off-target cell types,which are a known limitation of current kidney organoid *** work demonstrates the utility of syn-thetic peptide-based hydrogels with a defined stiffness,as a minimally complex microenvironment for the selected differentiation of kidney organoids.

This study presents a re-examination of historical specimens(Dg136 and Dg167)from the Monashee complex in the southeastern Canadian Cordillera that are critical to the current understanding of rare earth element(REE)distribution between garnet and monazite(and other accessory minerals)during ***-hundred and fifty-one new monazite petrochronology spot analyses on 29 different grains across two specimens outline detailed(re)crystallization *** element data collected from the same ablated volume,interpreted in the context of new phase equilibria modelling that includes monazite,xenotime and apatite,link ages to specific portions of the pressure-temperature(P-T)paths followed by the *** linkages are further informed by garnet Lu-Hf geochronology and xenotime *** clockwise P-T paths indicate prograde metamorphism was ongoing by ca.80 Ma in both *** structurally deeper specimen,Dg136,records peak P-T conditions of~755-770℃and 8.8-10.4 kbar,interpreted to coincide with(re-)crystallization of low Y monazite at~75-70 ***-rim garnet isopleths from Dg167 cross in the observed peak assemblage field at~680℃ and 9.3 *** conditions are interpreted to correspond with low Y monazite(re-)crystallisation at~65 *** specimens record decompression along their retrograde path coincident with high Y 70-55 Ma and 65-55 Ma monazite populations in Dg136 and Dg167,*** findings broadly agree with those initially reported~20 years ago and confirm early interpretations using trace elements in monazite as generally reliable markers of metamorphic *** phase equilibria modelling and in situ petrochronological analysis,however,provide additional insight into monazite behaviour during anatexis and the effects of potential trace element buffering by REE-bearing phases such as apatite.

AIM:To study the effects of probiotic metabolites on maturation stage of antigen-presenting immune ***:ganeden Bacillus coagulans 30(gBC30) bacterial cultures in log phase were used to isolate the secreted metabolite(MET) fraction.A second fraction was made to generate a crude cell-wall-enriched fraction,by centrifugation and lysis,followed by washing.A preparation of MET was subjected to size exclusion centrifugation,generating three fractions:f human peripheral blood mononuclear cell(PBMC) as a source of antigen-presenting mononuclear *** maturation status of mononuclear phagocytes was evaluated by staining with monoclonal antibodies towards CD14,CD16,CD80 and CD86 and analyzed by flow ***:Treatment of PBMC with MET supported maturation of mononuclear phagocytes toward both macrophage and dendritic cell *** biological activity unique to the metabolites included a reduction of CD14+ CD16+ pro-inflammatory cells,and this property was associated with the high molecular weight metabolite *** were also seen for the dendritic cell maturation markers CD80 and *** CD14dim cells,an increase in both CD80 and CD86 expression was seen,in contrast to a selective increase in CD86 expression on CD14bright *** co-expression of CD80 and CD86 indicates effective antigen presentation to T cells and support of T helper cell *** selective expression of CD86 in the absence of CD80 points to a role in generating T regulatory ***:The data show that a primary mechanism of action of gBC30 metabolites involves support of more mature phenotypes of antigen-presenting cells,important for immunological decision-making.
