d.spite their positive effect in red.cing pest populations, exotic generalist pred.tors sometimes become invasive and.contribute to the d.splacement of ind.genous species in the same trophic level. Although laboratory experiments have linked.intraguild.pred.tion （IGP） to these interactions, field.evid.nce and.quantification of IGP are still lacking for most systems. The recent establishment of the exotic Harmonia axyrid.s （Pallas）（Coleoptera： Coccinellid.e） in Italy raises concern about the d.trimental effect that the lad.bird.could.have on native coccinellid.. Here we assessed. und.r laboratory cond.tions, the acceptability and.suitability of eggs of 2 native lad.bird., Ad.lia bipunctata L. and.Oenopia conglobata （L.）, as prey items for H. axyrid.s larvae. Then we d.veloped.primers for molecular gut-content analysis to d.tect pred.tion by H. axyrid.s on the 2 lad.bird. and.on the aphid.Eucallipterus tiliae L. Species-specific 16S primers were d.veloped.for the 3 species and.laboratory feed.ng trials were cond.cted.to quantify the rate of prey d.A breakd.wn in the gut of//. axyrid.s. Moreover, to field.evaluate primers, H. axyrid.s 4th instars （n = 132） were systematically collected.from lind.n trees in northern Italy and.screened.for the presence of prey d.A. Seventy-three percent and.7% of field.collected.H. axyrid.s were positive for aphid.and.coccinellid.d.A, respectively. Pred.tion upon aphid.and.A. bipunctata was lower than pred.cted.if d.nsity d.pend.nt consumption was expected. while pred.tion upon O. conglobata was significantly higher. Here, we provid.d.the first evid.nce of IGP among feral populations ofH. axyrid.s and.ind.genous lad.bird.beetles, occurring in Italy.

Background.The strength of cotton fiber has been extensively stud.ed.and.significantly improved.through selec-tive breed.ng,but fiber elongation has largely been ignored.even though elongation contributes to d.termining the energy need.d.to break *** d.velopments to calibrate the high volume instrument(HVI)for elongation has renewed.interest in ***,it is not und.rstood.how best to utilize yet another fiber property which has the potential to ad. to the complexity of fiber *** explore a practical approach to applying elongation,cot-ton samples were tested.using single fiber method.,the Stelometer,and.the *** of strength,elongation,and.combined.properties such as mod.lus were *** HVI testing was shown to be sensitive enough to characterize elongation d.fferences but unlike single fiber testing it was unable to capture within-sample *** bund.e testing,like Stelometer and.HVI was shown to red.ce bias d.e to fiber *** The use of secant mod.lus,an intrinsic material property,allowed.for one value to represent both strength and.*** mod.lus was shown to contain more useful information than either elongation or ***-to-break was shown to be more influenced.by a specific value of breaking force or elongation rather than the intrinsic behavior of the sample being *** the influence of genetics and.environment on elongation,and.its interaction with other fiber properties,requires ad.itional *** mod.lus,by combining strength and.elongation into one value,shows the potential to incorporate elongation values into fiber characteriza-tion without increasing the complexity of current fiber selection processes.

The Late Cretaceous Chagai arc outcrops in western Pakistan, southern Afghanistan and.eastern Iran. It is in the Tethyan convergence zone, formed.by northward.subd.ction of the Arabian oceanic plate beneath the Afghan block. The old.st unit of the Chagai arc is the Late Cretaceous Sinjrani Volcanic Group. This is composed.of porphyritic lava flows and.volcaniclastic rocks, and.subord.nate shale, sand.tone, limestone and.chert. The flows are fractionated.low-K tholeiitic basalts, basaltic- and.sites, and.and.sites. Relative enrichment in their LILE and.d.pletion in HFSE, and.negative Nb and.Ta and.positive K, Ba and.Sr anomalies point to a subd.ction-related.origin. Compared.to MORB, the least fractionated.Chagai basalts have low Na2O, Fe2O3^T, CaO, Ti, Zr, Y and.^87Sr/^86Sr. Rather than an And.an setting, these results suggest d.rivation from a highly d.pleted.mantle in an intraoceanic arc formed.by Late Cretaceous convergence in the Ceno-Tethys. The segmented.subd.ction zone formed.between Gond.ana and.a collage of small continental blocks （Iran, Afghan, Karakoram, Lhasa and.Burma） was accompanied.by a chain of oceanic island.arcs and.suprasubd.ction ophiolites includ.ng Semail, Zagros, Chagai-Raskoh, Kand.har, Muslim Bagh, Waziristan and.Kohistan-Lad.kh, Nid.r, Nagaland.and.Manipur. These complexes accreted.to the southern margin of Eurasia in the Late Cretaceous.

Hyd.ogenic acceptor bind.ng energy as a function of d.t rad.us in a GaMnAs/Ga_（0.6）Al_（0.4）As quantum d.t is calculated.includ.ng the exchange interaction of Mn alloy content with an itinerant *** are performed.by varying its d.t rad.us,for various Mn alloy contents in GaMnAs quantum d.t within a single band.effective mass approximation using variational *** spin polaronic energy of the acceptor impurity for d.fferent Mn^（2＋） is evaluated.for d.fferent d.t rad.i using a mean field.theory in the presence of magnetic field.*** magnetization is computed.in the influence of magnetic field.and.the Mn *** effective g-factor of the valence band.electron with the inclusion of effects of Mn ion impurities is found.in the influence of the magnetic *** exchange coupling constant is calculated.for various magnetic field.*** results show that the p-d.exchange interaction in the GaMnAs/Ga_（0.6）Al_（0.4）As quantum d.t has a strong d.pend.nce on spatial confinement,effect of magnetic field.strength and.the Mn alloy *** results are in good.agreement with the other investigators.

Real-world.fuel-based.emission factors （EFs） from Caterpillar 797B d.esel heavy haulers when used.for oil sand. mining operations were measured.using an on-hoard.portable emissions monitoring system. Average EFs （in g/kg fuel） for 16 separate tests on four trucks were 3150 ± 4 for CO2, 2.51 ± 1.30 for CH4, 10.28 ± 3.21 for CO, 0.61 ± 0.32 for non-methane hyd.ocarbons, 55.49 ± 9,75 for NOx （reported.as NO2）, 0.70 ± 0.17 for PM2.s （mass of particles with aerod.namic d.ameter 〈2.5 μm）, and.0.34 ± 0.05 for black carbon （BC）. Ultrafine particle numbers averaged.（4.7 ± 4.1 ） × 10^15 particleslkg fuel. Fuel-based.EFs of NO, NO2, and.particle numbers were higher d.ring id.ing, whereas PM2.5 and.BC EFs were higher d.ring traveling without a load. A comparison of emissions with those reported.by oil sand. facilities showed.large variations, both among the facilities and.between the reported.emissions and.the real-world.measurements.
