Today steel is produced by two steelmaking processes, the basic oxygen furnace and the electric arc furnace, Three types of iron input materials for both processes are liquid hot metal or in solidified form as pig iron, direct reduced iron （DRI） and hot briquetted iron （HB1） as well as steel scrap. Hot metal, pig iron, DRI and HBI are virgin iron materials, which have to be produced from iron ore by the so-called ironmaking technologies. New ironmaking processes based on fluidized bed technology have been developed in the last two decades. The main advantage of these technologies is that fine ore can be directly used in the processes and prior treatment such as sintering or pelletizing can be avoided which is required for the established processes. Theoretical aspects for reduction of fine iron oxides in a fluidized bed reactor system will be explained. The fluidized bed reducing technologies utilized in the most advanced new ironmaking processes for direct use of fine ore, FINMeT, Circored, FINeX~ and Hismelt will be compared.

A laboratory fluidized bed reactor was used to investigate the fluidization behavior and reducibility of various iron ore *** was chosen as a reducing agent across a temperature range of 873-1073 *** magnetite ore used exhibited strong sticking behavior after the initiation of metallic iron *** other tested ores fluidized sufficiently well when subjected to the same high reduction *** kinetic analysis was conducted using a previously developed model to include three rate-limiting step *** trend of apparent activation energy was correlated with the degree of ***,the influence of varying the specific gas rate was *** results show the variation in reducibility as a result of different interactions,which influence the rate-limiting mechanisms of nucleation and the undertaken chemical reactions,which vary as a function of temperature and degree of *** apparent activation energies,determined from the reduction of wtistite to metallic iron,were in the range of 15-60 kJ/mol,depending on the iron ore used and the degree of *** change in apparent activation energy deriving from the increased specific gas rate can be explained by an increasing nucleation effect,especially at lower reduction temperatures.

Background Public interest in the way food is produced on the farm and processed along the food-production chain is *** analysis of isotopic signatures(^(13)C)in cow tail hair provides a method to reconstruct the dietary proportion of maize in cow *** on this,we further investigated whether there is a relationship between isotopic signatures in cow tail hair or farm slurry and the proportion of maize of the total utilized agricultural area per farm[%].We did an on-farm survey on 17 dairy farms in coastal Northwest Germany and collected cow tail hair from dairy cows and slurry samples on each *** farms differed in their feeding regime(C_(3) vs.C_(4) plants),their site conditions(sandy soil=‘Geestland’;organic soil=‘Peatland’;clayey soil=‘Marshland’),and in the area cultivated with maize as a proportion of the total utilized agricultural area per *** We found a positive relationship between δ^(13)C values in both cow tail hair and slurry and the annual dietary proportion of maize(R^(2)=0.67;and R^(2)=0.63).Furthermore,we confirmed that there was a relationship betweenδ^(13)C values in cow tail hair and area of maize as a proportion of the total utilized agricultural area per farm(R^(2)=0.69).Conclusion Our findings suggest a general applicability of using isotopic signatures(^(13)C)along a wide gradient of site conditions and productions systems in practice.

The N-terminal eF-hand calcium-binding proteins 1–3(NeCAB1–3) constitute a family of predominantly neuronal proteins characterized by the presence of at least one eF-hand calcium-binding domain and a functionally less well characterized C-terminal antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. All three family members were initially discovered due to their interactions with other proteins. NeCAB1 associates with synaptotagmin-1, a critical neuronal protein involved in membrane trafficking and synaptic vesicle exocytosis. NeCAB2 interacts with predominantly striatal G-protein-coupled receptors, while NeCAB3 partners with amyloid-β A4 precursor protein-binding family A members 2 and 3, key regulators of amyloid-β production. This demonstrates the capacity of the family for interactions with various classes of proteins. NeCAB proteins exhibit distinct subcellular localizations: NeCAB1 is found in the nucleus and cytosol, NeCAB2 resides in endosomes and the plasma membrane, and NeCAB3 is present in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. The antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain, an evolutionarily ancient component, is akin to atypical heme oxygenases in prokaryotes but is not wellcharacterized in vertebrates. Prokaryotic antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domains typically form dimers, suggesting that calcium-mediated conformational changes in NeCAB proteins may induce antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain dimerization, potentially activating some enzymatic properties. However, the substrate for this enzymatic activity remains uncertain. Alternatively, calcium-mediated conformational changes might influence protein interactions or the subcellular localization of NeCAB proteins by controlling the availability of protein–protein interaction domains situated between the eF hands and the antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. In this paper,a new strategy for a sub-element-based shock capturing for discontinuous Galerkin(DG)approximations is *** idea is to interpret a DG element as a col-lection of data and construct a hierarchy of low-to-high-order discretizations on this set of data,including a first-order finite volume scheme up to the full-order DG *** dif-ferent DG discretizations are then blended according to sub-element troubled cell indicators,resulting in a final discretization that adaptively blends from low to high order within a single DG *** goal is to retain as much high-order accuracy as possible,even in simula-tions with very strong shocks,as,e.g.,presented in the Sedov *** framework retains the locality of the standard DG scheme and is hence well suited for a combination with adaptive mesh refinement and parallel *** numerical tests demonstrate the sub-element adaptive behavior of the new shock capturing approach and its high accuracy.
