Background: Recent studies indicate a strong functional relevance of the canonical inflammatory interleukin 6 signaling pathway in coronary artery disease (CAD). A genetic association of this signaling pathway with CAD has not been shown yet. We aimed to assess novel single nucleotide polymorphisms (sNPs) from genes of the Interleukin 6 signaling pathway. Results: To identify novel sNPs that are relevant for CAD, we employed a large-scale population-based case-control association study of 2199 cases and 1715 controls and assessed 73 sNPs from 12 genes out of the IL-6 signaling pathway. Results were adjusted to the CAD-related risk factors diabetes, hypertension, Body Mass Index, smoking and sex by logistic regression analysis. In a primary explorative study, we identified 5 sNPs that were significantly associated with CAD (MAPK1_rs6928, MAPK1_rs9340, MAPK1_ rs11913721, MAPK14_rs7757672, JAK1_rs310236). After adjustment to CAD-risk factors, MAPK1_ rs6928 showed the strongest association with CAD (P 0.0217, Odds Ratio 1.36, Confidence Interval 1.05 - 1.77). To reproduce this result, we performed a replication study employing independent patient and control panels. In this study we could not approve the association of rs6928 with CAD. Conclusion: In conclusion, we did not detect significant associations of sNPs from the IL-6 signaling pathway with CAD. Our investigation demonstrates the importance of independent replication studies to verify results from candidate-gene association studies in the quest to discover the underlying pathomechanism of CAD.

A great challenge for all aqueous batteries,including Zn-metal batteries,is the parasitic hydrogen evolution reaction on the low-potential ***,we report the formula of a highly concentrated aqueous electrolyte that mitigates hydrogen evolution by transforming water molecules more *** electrolyte comprises primarily ZnCl_(2) and LiCl as an additive,both of which are inexpensive *** O-H covalent bonds in water get strengthened in a chemical environment that has fewer hydrogen bonding interactions and a greater number of Zn-Cl superhalides,as suggested by integrated characterization and *** a result,the average Coulombic efficiency of zincmetal anode is raised to an unprecedented>99.7%at 1mA cm^(−2).In the new electrolyte,the plating/stripping processes leave the zinc-metal anode dendrite-free,and the zinc-metal anode delivers stable plating/stripping cycles for 4000 hours with an areal capacity of 4 mAh cm^(−2) at 2mA cm^(−2).Furthermore,the high Coulombic efficiency of zinc-metal anode in the ZnCl_(2)-LiCl mixture electrolyte is demonstrated in full cells with a limited *** V_(2)O_(5)·H_(2)O||Zn full cell with an N/P mass ratio of 1.2 delivers a stable life of more than 2500 cycles,and the LiMn_(2)O_(4)||Zn hybrid cell with an N/P mass ratio of 0.6 exhibits 1500 cycles in its stable life.

skeletal health relies on architectural integrity and sufficient bone mass, which are maintained through a tightly regulated equilibrium of bone resorption by osteoclasts and bone formation by osteoblasts. Genetic studies have linked the gene coding for low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein1(Lrp1) to bone traits but whether these associations are based on a causal molecular relationship is unknown. Here, we show that Lrp1 in osteoblasts is a novel regulator of osteoclast activity and bone *** lacking Lrp1 specifically in the osteoblast lineage displayed normal osteoblast function but severe osteoporosis due to highly increased osteoclast numbers and bone resorption. Osteoblast Lrp1 limited receptor activator of NF-κB ligand(RANKL) expression in vivo and in vitro through attenuation of platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF-BB) signaling. In co-culture, Lrp1-deficient osteoblasts stimulated osteoclastogenesis in a PDGFRβ-dependent manner and in vivo treatment with the PDGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor imatinib mesylate limited RANKL production and led to complete remission of the osteoporotic phenotype. These results identify osteoblast Lrp1 as a key regulator of osteoblast-to-osteoclast communication and bone mass through a PDGF–RANKL signaling axis in osteoblasts and open perspectives to further explore the potential of PDGF signaling inhibitors in counteracting bone loss as well as to evaluate the importance of functional LRP1 gene variants in the control of bone mass in humans.

Ultra-high pressure（UHP）eclogites that derive from subducted oceanic crust are rarely found at the Earth’s surface because they need to be enclosed in a buoyant host rock such as serpentinites that facilitate exhumation（Hermann et al.,2000;Guillot et al.,2001）.Under normal subduction geotherms,serpentinites break down just before UHP conditions are reached and therefore most of the exhumed eclogites representing subducted oceanic crust formed under fore-arc *** investigated eclogite blocks enclosed into serpentinites that occur in the southwestern Tianshan oceanic subduction,China.A previous study proved that the serpentinites derive from altered oceanic crust and experienced UHP metamorphism at low temperatures of 510-530°C（shen et al.,2015）.Three relatively fresh eclogite samples were studied in *** 129-7 shows the retrograde mineral assemblage of amphibole+biotite+albite+chlorite+minor titanite and peak metamorphic relics of omphacite+garnet±*** C107-23 is mainly composed of amphibole+albite+chlorite+zoisite+muscovite+minor titanite as a retrograde assemblage and garnet+phengite as the peak metamorphic relics with omphacite only found as inclusions in *** to sample C107-23,sample C11066 preserves large-grained euhedral to subhedral garnet relics with omphacite inclusions,and epidote,diopside,amphibole,muscovite,chlorite,albite and biotite are in the matrix belong to the retrograde *** three retrograde eclogite samples were modelled using thermodynamic calculations in the Mn NCKFMsHO（Mn O-Na;O-Ca O-K;O-FeO-Mg O-Al;O;-siO;-H;O-Fe;O;）*** on the peak assemblage of omphacite+garnet and the crossing of the grossular and pyrope isopleths in garnet,peak P-T conditions of;60-470oC,28-29 kbar（129-7）,450-500oC,28-35 kbar（C107-23）,;75-505oC,26-29 kbar（C11066）were *** retrograde assemblages indicate near isothermal decompression resulting in a clockwise P-T evolution of these *** peak metamo
