The improvement of microbial characterization has increased the comprehension of microbial population and their ability in the microbiological metal dissolution. Bioleaching processes have been expanded to use microorganisms for the recovery of metals from ores and wastes. This study introduces Palca mine tailings pond in Peru which turned into acid mine drainage (AMD). AMD is a source of microbial communities whose microorganisms may support the aqueous extractive metallurgy for metal recovery. Four samples of AMD were collected from different locations and the elemental characterization showed concentrations of metals, such as Cu, Zn, Al, Mn, and Fe. The pH of the samples showed variation between 1.9 - 6.8. Twenty-one microorganisms were isolated and selected according the cell morphology. 16s rRNA gene sequences identified five species of which three belong to the bacterial kingdom and two to the Fungi kingdom. Two of the bacterial species were ferrous ion oxidizing bacteria, identified as Acidithiobacillus ferriphilus and Acidithiobacillus ferridurans;and the other one a ferric ion reducing bacteria identified as Acidiphilium acidophilum. The fungi species identified were Rhodotorula sinensis and Exophiala xenobiotica, a filamentous fungus isolated for the first time from an AMD.

This paper reviews the latest research progress in the additive manufacturing(AM)process of 18%nickel maraging steels,which involves laser-based powder bed fusion(L-PBF),laser-based directed energy deposition(L-DED),and wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM).The emphasis is on the defects,structure,and mechanical properties of the additive manufactured 18%nickel maraging *** first,this article outlines the influences of the processing parameters of AM techniques on the defects formed in the fabricated parts,in terms of the L-PBF and *** macrostructure and microstructure characteristics of as-built and heat-treated 18%nickel maraging steel are then described in ***,the mechanical properties of as-built and heat-treated 18%nickel maraging steel are assessed,such as their tensile,hardness,impact toughness,and fatigue ***,future directions for work on the AM of 18%nickel maraging steel are provided.

This paper analyses the life-cycle dynamics of zombie companies-broadly defined as businesses that are consistently unable to meet their interest expenses from current profits-amongst listed firms in China over the period 2008-2019.A large share of zombie companies subsequently return to nonzombie *** proportion is higher for firms undergoing a major restructuring event,low leverage levels,and with smaller operating expense ***,zombie firms that return to nonzombie status continue to have lower levels of profitability compared with their industry peers and have a higher probability of relapsing into zombie status compared with firms that have never been classified as *** efforts to revive zombie companies using major restructuring events appear insufficient in overcoming the longer term scarring effects of zombification on firms'*** results highlight the potential benefits of the ongoing efforts by Chinese regulators to improve the delisting process.

With the fast-pace digitalization evolution in the current generation’s lifestyle and the industry revolution,the energy demand has been ***,the two-dimensional(2D)bismuth-based nanomaterials emerged as a promising photocatalyst candidate in solar fuel conversion,not only for its exceptional light absorption capability and tunable optical properties,but it also can be synthesized into diverse variety of nanomaterials with different ranges of potential gap and band position to fulfill the potential requirement of wide range of photocatalytic ***,the weak light harvesting ability and ultrafast charge recombination has restricted its potential in commercial ***,recent researches have been focusing on tackling these issues by incorporating some modification strategies such as heteroatom doping,vacancy engineering,facet engineering,bismuth rich strategy and heterojunction ***,this review article presents the state-of-the-art modifications on 2D bismuth-based parent material,specifically on the relationship between each of the modification strategy on the electronic properties and surface chemistry in achieving boosted photocatalytic *** the view of the unique charge interaction between two semiconductors with different dimensions,we systematically discuss the rational heterostructure design from the dimensionality perspective,namely,point-to-face,line-to-face,face-to-face,and bulk-to-face in solar fuel conversion to provide inspiring insights for future interface ***,the challenges and the future research outlook in the solar-to-fuel conversion are highlighted to push forward the design of high-performance bismuth-based photocatalyst in realizing commercialscale solar-to-fuel conversion.

Appropriate color mapping for categorical data visualization can significantly facilitate the discovery of underlying data patterns and effectively bring out visual *** systems suggest pre-defined palettes for this ***,a predefined color mapping is not always optimal,failing to consider users’needs for *** an input cate-gorical data visualization and a reference image,we present an effective method to automatically generate a coloring that resembles the reference while allowing classes to be easily *** extract a color palette with high perceptual distance between the colors by sampling dominant and discriminable colors from the image’s color *** colors are assigned to given classes by solving an integer quadratic program to optimize point distinctness of the given chart while preserving the color spatial relations in the source *** show results on various coloring tasks,with a diverse set of new coloring appearances for the input *** also compare our approach to state-of-the-art palettes in a controlled user study,which shows that our method achieves comparable performance in class discrimination,while being more similar to the source *** feedback after using our system verifies its efficiency in automatically generating desirable colorings that meet the user’s expectations when choosing a reference.

A multi-faceted Case Area Targeted Intervention (CATI) approach emphasizing the integration of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions and Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) campaign was employed to respond to the outbreak of cholera in Garissa County. Drinking water sources in areas heavily impacted by cholera were systematically mapped and tested for microbiological quality. The quality assessment was carried out in April 2023 during an ongoing cholera outbreak in the county. A total of 109 samples were collected and tested for thermotolerant coliforms and other in situ parameters. The finding revealed that more than 87% of the samples did not meet the World Health Organization (WHO) standard for thermotolerant coliforms;and 30% had turbidity values above the recommended threshold values. None of the 109 samples had any traceable residual chlorine. Following these findings, the county government implemented the targeted interventions which resulted in a positive impact in the fight against cholera. The WHO supported key interventions which included capacity building in water quality monitoring and prepositioning of critical WASH commodities to the cholera affected areas.
