w. determined w.ether the inclusion of 100 g/kg dry matter of grape pomace silage (GPS) and grape pomace bran (GPB) as substitutes for other traditional fiber sources in the diet of steers (Charolais x nellore) w.uld improv. carcass characteristics, meat quality and composition, and shelf life. Tw.nty-four animals (248 ± 19.32 kg of initial body w.ight) w.re fed a high concentrate diet for 121 days. Carcass characteristics w.re measured, and the longissimus dorsi muscle w.s analyzed for fatty acid (FA) profile and composition. The meat w.s sliced and stored in air-permeable packages for 10 days. On each sampling day (d 1, 3, 7, and 10), oxidativ. stability, bacterial load, lipid and protein oxidation, and staining w.re analyzed. The experimental diets influenced the pH of cold carcasses only. The GPS group had a higher pH than the control. The GPS and GPB groups show.d improv.d oxidant status (i.e., low.r lipid peroxidation and concentrations of reactiv. oxygen species w.re in the meat of both groups than in control). On the first day of storage, the antioxidant enzyme glutathione S-transferase activ.ty w.s more significant in the meat of the GPS and GPB groups than in the control. The bacterial loads in the meat w.re attenuated by GPS inclusion;there w.re low.r total coliform counts and a trend tow.rd low.r counts for enterobacteria in the control group. The diets altered the FA profile of the meat;i.e., the GPB diet allow.d for a more significant amount of the n-6 omegas in the meat, w.ile the GPS diet show.d a tendency for a more significant amount of n-6 and 9 omegas. Both diets (GPS and GPB) increased the amounts of long-chain FAs. The GPS diet decreased saturated FA lev.ls. w. conclude that the dietary treatments GPS and GPB are a promising alternativ. to maintain meat quality standards throughout in real-w.rld retail conditions. Highly Defectiv. Dark TiO_(2) Modified w.th Pt: Effects of Precursor Nature and Preparation Method on Photocatalytic Properties

The study focused on the modification w.th platinum of dark defectiv. titania obtained v.a pulsed laser ablation. Both the method of Pt introduction and the nature of the Pt precursor w.re v.ried. All samples exhibited similar phase compositions, specific surface areas, and Pt contents. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy coupled w.th pulsed CO adsorption rev.aled increased dispersity w.en photoreduction and the hydroxonitrate complex (Me _(4) N) _(2) [Pt _(2) (OH) _(2) (NO _(3) ) _(8) ] w.re used. The sample featured a high content of single-atom species and subnano-sized Pt clusters. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results show.d that the photoreduction method facilitated the appearance of a larger number of Pt ^(2+) states, w.ich appeared ow.ng to the strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) eff ect of the transfer of electron density from the electron-saturated defects on the TiO _(2) surface to Pt ^(4+) . In the hydrogen ev.lution reaction, samples w.th a significant fraction of the Pt ^(2+) ionic component, capable of generating short-liv.d Pt^(0) single-atom sites under irradiation due to the SMSI eff ect, exhibited the highest photocatalytic activ.ty. The 0.5Pt(C)/TiO_(2) -Ph sample exhibited the highest hydrogen yield w.th a quantum efficiency of 0.53, retaining its activ.ty ev.n after 8 h of operation.

Effects of the lev.l and source of dietary physically effectiv. fiber on feed intake, nutrient utilization, heat energy, ruminal fermentation,and milk production by Alpine goats

Thirty-tw. primiparous and 31 multiparous Alpine goats w.re used to determine influences of diets v.rying in lev.l and source of forage on performance in early to mid-lactation for 16 w.. Diets consisted of 40%, 50%, 60%, and 70% forage(designated as 40F, 50F, 60F, and 70F, respectiv.ly) w.th 60F and 70F containing coarsely ground grass hay(primarily orchardgrass) and 40F and 50F containing cottonseed hulls, alfalfa pellets, and coarsely ground w.eat hay. Diets contained 15.9% to 16.3% crude protein and37.8%, 42.1%, 53.5%, and 55.4% neutral detergent fiber(NDF) w.th 10.0%, 15.8%, 50.1%, and 55.5% particle retention on a 19-mm siev., and 26.1%, 29.6%, 38.3%, and 40.0% physically effectiv. NDF(pe NDF) for 40F,50F, 60F, and 70F, respectiv.ly. Dry matter intake(2.71, 2.75, 1.96, and 1.95 kg/d) and milk yield(2.82,2.71, 2.23, and 2.10 kg/d for 40F, 50F, 60F, and 70F, respectiv.ly) w.re low.r(P w. diets highest in forage. Digestion of organic matter w.s similar among diets(P > 0.05), but digestibility of NDF w.s greater(P v.ly). Diet affected(P lk fat(3.16%, 3.37%, 2.93%, and 2.97%) and protein concentrations(2.62%, 2.69%, 2.58%, and 2.52% for 40F, 50F, 60F, and 70F, respectiv.ly). Milk energy yield w.s greater(P w. diets low.st in forage(7.51, 7.45, 5.68, and 5.34 MJ/d), although yield relativ. to dry matter intake w.s not affected(P > 0.05) by diet and w.s low.r(P v.. multiparous goats(2.71 and 3.09 MJ/kg). Ruminal p H and acetate proportion w.re greater for 60F and 70F than for the other diets and the proportion of butyrate w.s low.r for the tw. diets highest in fiber. Experimental Inv.stigation of the Stability of the Performance Characteristics of a Photov.ltaic Module in the Face of Env.ronmental and Meteorological Factors

The explosiv. technological improv.ment of photov.ltaic systems as w.ll as the necessity of populations to come to less expensiv. energy sources, that hav. led to an implosion at the lev.l of solar panel manufacturers. This causes a large flow.of these equipments to dev.loping countries w.ere the need is high, w.thout any quality control. That conducted an experimental inv.stigation on the performance characteristics of a 250 w. monocrystalline silicon photov.ltaic module in other to check the v.rification and quality control. Most of these Pv.panels w.ich often hav. missing informations are manufactured and tested in places that are inadequate for our env.ronmental and meteorological conditions. Also, their influences on the stability of internal parameters w.re ev.luated in order to optimize their performance. The results obtained at maximum illumination (1000 w.m2) confirmed those produced by the manufacturer. The analysis of these characteristics show.d that the illumination and the temperature (meteorological factors) influenced at most the stability of the internal characteristics of the module in the sense that the maximum pow.r increased v.ry rapidly beyond 750 w.m2 but a degradation of performance w.s accentuated for a temperature of the solar cells exceeding 50°C. The degradation coefficients w.re ev.luated at -0.0864 v.°C for the v.ltage and at -1.6248 w.°C for the pow.r. The 10° inclination angle of the solar panel prov.d to be ideal for optimizing ov.rall efficiency in practical situations.

The search for new.biomarkers predictiv. of type 2 diabetes currently constitutes a research av.nue in Bioclinical. Total homocysteine remains a preferred target due to its inv.lv.ment in the occurrence of degenerativ. complications in type 2 diabetics. The aim of this w.rk w.s to study hyperhomocysteinemia and other biochemical markers associated w.th T2D in the Congolese population. This w.s an analytical case-control study carried out betw.en October 2022 and October 2023. The study population consisted of 150 subjects including 100 T2D patients and 50 control subjects. The main clinical data w.re collected on a pre-established form. Homocysteine determination w.s carried out by the sandw.ch ElISA method. The other biochemical markers w.re measured by colorimetric enzymatic methods. Hyperhomocysteinemia w.s present in 27.3% (41/150) of the entire study population. Type 2 diabetics had a frequency of hyperhomocysteinemia of 36% (36/100) and control 10% (5/50) (p = 0.001). The mean hyperhomocysteinemia concentration w.s 31.9 μmol/l w.th extremes ranging from 18 to 103 μmol/l. Means of biological markers betw.en diabetics and controls show.d a statistically significant difference (p = 0.01). The risk factors associated w.th this HHcy w.re: sex (OR = 3.5), age (OR = 9.4), sedentary lifestyle (OR = 3.4) and glycosylated hemoglobin (OR = 12) w.th a p-v.lue v.ly. Our results suggest that hyperhomocysteinemia can be considered as a predictiv. biomarker in the bioclinic of Congolese type 2 diabetic patients.

BACKGROUND Chronic inflammatory pain is associated w.th increased expression of interleukin(Il)-1,an inflammatory cytokine,and activ.ty on its receptor(Il-1R).In response,the body produces Il-1R antagonist(Il-1Ra)to reduce this *** conditioned serum(ACS)is the only biologic therapy for spinal pathologies that enhances the action of endogenous Il-1Ra reserv.s to improv. *** systematic rev.ew.inv.stigates the effectiv.ness of ACS in treating pain and dis-ability caused by spinal *** To ev.luate the use of ACS as a conserv.tiv. management option for spinal *** A systematic rev.ew.of PubMed/Medline w.s performed to identify studies inv.-stigating administration of ACS for treatment of any spinal *** Six articles w.re included,comprising 684 patients treated w.th epidural(n=133)or transforaminal(n=551)ACS *** had an av.rage age of 54.0 years w.th slight female predominance(53.2%).The lumbar spine w.s most com-monly treated,w.th 567 patients(82.9%)receiv.ng injections for lumbar radicu-lopathy(n=67),degenerativ. disc disease(DDD)(n=372),or spinal stenosis(n=128);cerv.cal injections w.re performed in 109 patients(15.9%).Mean(SD)follow.up w.s 21.7(4.8)w.eks from first ACS *** studies inv.stigating mecha-nical lumbar and lumbar or cerv.cal radicular pain reported significant pain re-duction at final follow.up compared to *** achiev.d comparable or su-perior results to lumbar epidural steroid *** ev.nts w.re reported in 21 patients(3.1%),w.th no serious adv.rse *** ACS injection is a safe and effectiv. interv.ntion for pain reduction in many spinal pathologies,including cerv.cal and lumbar radiculopathies.
