Physical activity in primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease:Overview updated

Although the observed progress in the cardiovascular disease treatment, the incidence of new and recurrent coronary artery disease remains elevated and constitutes the leading cause of death in the developed countries. Three-quarters of deaths due to cardiovascular diseases could be prevented with adequate changes in lifestyle, including increased daily physical activity. New evidence confirms that there is an inverse dose-response relationship between physical activity and cardiovascular disease and mortality risk. However, participation in moderate to vigorous physical activity may not fully attenuate the independent effect of sedentary activities on increased risk for cardiovascular diseases. Physical activity also plays an important role in secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases by reducing the impact of the disease, slowing its progress and preventing recurrence. Nonetheless, most of eligible cardiovascular patients still do not benefit from secondary prevention/cardiac rehabilitation programs. The present review draws attention to the importance of physical activity in the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. It also addresses the mechanisms by which physical activity and regular exercise can improve cardiovascular health and reduce the burden of the disease.

Background： Removal of the follicular content by ultrasound-guided transvaginal follicle aspiration（TVFA） may fail to induce immediate atresia and loss of function, resulting in the occurrence of residual follicles（RF）. The aims of this study were to characterize the blood flow in RF and to determine the effects of the treatment with estradiol benzoate on RF fate. lactating, cyclic Holstein-Gir crossbred cows were used. In Experiment 1, follicular wave emergence（D0） was synchronized in cows（n = 10） and follicular growth was then monitored by transrectal ultrasonography from D0 to D8, followed by TVFA of the largest follicle present on the ovaries 24 h later. Color Doppler ultrasound imaging was used to examine blood flow on the follicular wall, which was recorded immediately before and every 12 h after TVFA, up to 72 h. In experiment 2, cows（n = 22） were randomly allocated to receive either 2 ml of saline i.m.（Control group, n = 11） or 2 ml estradiol benzoate i.m.（EB group, n = 11）immediately after TVFA. Ovaries were scanned every 12 h to confirm the presence and to measure the diameter of RF. The contents of the RF, if present, were collected 72 h after the first TVFA, using the same aspiration *** fluid from original follicles and RF were stored at-20 °C until hormonal ***： In Experiment 1, there was no reduction（P 〉 0.05） of blood flow in the remaining follicle walls after TVFA and maximum blood flow values were observed at 49.5 ± 19.7 h post-TVFA. In Experiment 2, formation of RF after TVFA was proportionally similar between Controls（5/9） and EB（5/10） cows. Also, RF diameter did not differ between groups（P 〉 0.05）. Effectiveness of sub-acromial injections in rotator cuff injuries:A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Sub-acromial injections are a therapeutic option for rotator cuff injuries;however,evidence regarding the most effective drug in this context is unclear,which needs to be *** To evaluate the effectiveness of various sub-acromial injections for rotator cuff *** We conducted a systematic review and pair-wise and network meta-analyses of randomized clinical trials(RCTs)comparing sub-acromial injections for rotator cuff *** interventions evaluated were hyaluronic acid(HA),platelet-rich plasma(PRP),prolotherapy,and *** outcomes of interest were pain and functional improvement,which were evaluated with standardized *** Risk of Bias 2 tool and the Grading of Recommendations,Assessment,Development and Evaluation methodology were used to assess data *** Twenty RCTs,comprising 1479 participants,were *** the short term,HA achieved the best outcomes[pain mean difference(MD)=-1.48,95%confidence interval(CI)-2.37 to-0.59;function MD=10.18,95%CI:4.96-15.41].In the medium term,HA,PRP,HA+PRP,and corticosteroids were not superior to placebo in improving *** on function,HA+PRP was superior to placebo,corticosteroids,and PRP(MD=26.72;95%CI:8.02-45.41).In the long term,HA,PRP,and corticosteroids were not superior to placebo in reducing ***,based on function,HA+PRP,PRP,and HA were superior to placebo,and HA+PRP had the best result(MD=36.64;95%CI:31.66-33.62).CONClUSION HA provides satisfactory short-term results,while HA with PRP demonstrates functional improvement in the medium and long ***,no intervention maintained the pain-relief effect on>3-month follow-up.

Efficient use of natural resources(e.g.,light,water,and nutrients)can be improved with a tailored developmental program that maximizes the lifetime and fitness of *** plant shoots,a developmental phase represents a time window in which the meristem triggers the development of unique morphological and physiological traits,leading to the emergence of leaves,flowers,and *** developmental phases in plant shoots have been shown to enhance food production in crops,this phenomenon has remained poorly investigated in *** light of recent advances,we suggest that root development occurs in three main phases:root apical meristem appearance,foraging,and *** provide compelling evidence suggesting that these phases are regulated by at least four developmental pathways:autonomous,non-autonomous,hormonal,and *** developmental pathways differentially coordinate organ plasticity,promoting morphological alterations,tissue regeneration,and cell death ***,we suggest how nutritional checkpoints may allow progression through the developmental phases,thus completing the root life *** insights highlight novel and exciting advances in root biology that may help maximize the productivity of crops through more sustainable agriculture and the reduced use of chemical fertilizers.

Development of metal organic fromwork-199 immobilized zeolite foam for adsorption of common indoor VOCs

Reticulated foam shaped adsorbents are more efficient for the removal of volatile organic compounds（VOCs）,particularly from low VOC-concentration indoor air streams. In this study composite structure of zeolite and metal organic frameworks（MOFs）,referred as ZMF,has been fabricated by immobilization of fine MOF-199 powder on foam shaped Zeolite Socony Mobil-5（ZSM-5）Zeolitic structure,referred as ZF. The ZMF possess a uniform and well-dispersed coating of MOF-199 on the porous framework of ZF. It shows higher surface area,pore volume,and VOCs adsorption capacity,as compared to ***-fabrication changes in selective adsorption properties of ZMF were studied with three common indoor VOCs（benzene,n-hexane,and cyclohexane）,using gravimetric adsorption technique. The adsorption capacity of ZMF with different VOCs follow the order of benzene 〉 n-hexane 〉 cyclohexane. In comparison with MOF-199 and ZF,the composite structure ZMF shows improvement in selectivity for benzene from other two VOCs. Further,improvement in efficiency and stability of prepared ZMF was found to be associated with its high MOF loading capacity and unique morphological and structural properties. The developed composite structure with improved VOCs removal and recyclability could be a promising material for small to limited scale air pollution treatment units.

Transesterification of sunflower oil in microchannels with circular obstructions

The present paper studied numerical and experimentally the transesterification reaction between sunflower oil and ethanol with NaO H catalyst in microchannels with circular obstructions. The micromixer design influence on fluid mixing and oil conversion was investigated for a range of operating conditions: Reynolds number(Re = 0.1–100),Temperature(25–75 °C), ethanol/oil molar ratio(6-12), and catalyst concentration(0.75 wt%–1.25 wt%), using three microchannel configurations(length = 35 mm; Width = 1500 μm; Height = 200 μm): T-shape – channel without obstructions; MCO – channel with 3 obstructions ensemble – equally disposed over longitudinal length;MWO – channel with 7 obstructions ensemble. The MCO micromixer was based on literature work, and the MWO is a totally new micromixer design. Experimental tests were conducted in similar conditions in microreactors using these micromixers(length = 411 mm) made of polydimethylsiloxane. The MCO configuration presented the highest performance(mixing index of 0.80 at Re = 100), oil conversion of 81.13% at 75 °C, molar ratio of 9 and catalyst concentration of 1%. Experimental results showed high conversions for MCO and MWO configurations(99.99%) at 50 °C, molar ratio of 9 and catalyst concentration of 1%, with a residence time of 12 s.

Intelligent negotiation model for ubiquitous group decision scenarios

Supporting group decision-making in ubiquitous contexts is a complex task that must deal with a large amount of factors to succeed. Here we propose an approach for an intelligent negotiation model to support the group decision-making process specifically designed for ubiquitous contexts. Our approach can be used by researchers that intend to include arguments, complex algorithms, and agents' modeling in a negotiation model. It uses a social networking logic due to the type of communication employed by the agents and it intends to support the ubiquitous group decision-making process in a similar way to the real process, which simultaneously preserves the amount and quality of intelligence generated in face-to-face meetings. We propose a new look into this problem by considering and defining strategies to deal with important points such as the type of attributes in the multicriterion problems, agents' reasoning, and intelligent dialogues.
