parkinson’s disease (pD) is a progressive degenerative condition that mainly affects the elderly. The disease comprises motor symptoms such as tremors at rest, loss of voluntary movement, decreased muscle strength, propensity to lean forward and acceleration of the walking pace. These signs are related to the degeneration of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathway. patients also have non-motor symptoms, among which sleep alterations, cognitive deficits, fatigue, pain and depression stand out. Although depression has been described as the most prevalent non-motor symptom, it is not clear whether this mood disorder is due to pD or patients would already have a greater predisposition. The present study evaluated the relationship between the predisposition to depressive-like behavior and the development of motor alterations in a progressive pharmacological model of pD in mice. Mice were classified into groups of depressive-like propensities and submitted to the pharmacological model. Reserpine was administrated at 0.1 mg/kg on alternate days for 40 days. The catalepsy and oral movement tests were used to evaluate motor alterations, the sucrose preference test was used to evaluate anhedonia, and the open field test was applied to evaluate general activity. Reserpine promoted parkinsonian motor impairments, and there were no differences between animals from different depressive-like behavior profiles. Thus, it was not possible to find a relationship between parkinsonism and the propensity to depression based on the basal sucrose preference test. More studies with other evaluations of depressive-like behavior are needed to confirm the results found in our study.

purpose: To investigate the prognostic impacts of a combined clopidogrel-metabolizing genotypes CYp 2C19 (+ or -)*2/(+ or -)*17 on patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). population and methods: prospective, longitudinal study of 95 patients admitted for ACS to a single coronary care unit. patients less than 75 years of age, who survived hospitalization and to whom clopidogrel was prescribed, were included. CYp2C19 genotyping was performed at dis- charge. For analysis, the patients were grouped as follows: Group A ([+]*2/[+]*17) n = 8;Group b ([+]*2/[-]*17) n = 18;Group C ([-]*2/[+]*17) n = 27;and Group D ([-]*2/[-]*17) n = 42. platelet function was assessed by an ADp platelet aggregation test using a commercially available kit. The primary end-point was a composite of mortality or readmission for ACS. The median time of follow-up was 136.0 (79.0 - 188.0) days. Results: The mean age of the study patients was 59.9 ± 10.7 years, and 83.2% were male. The allele frequencies of CYp2C19*2 and CYp2C19 *17 were 14.2% and 20%, respectively. both allele frequencies were in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. The patient groups were homogenous for demographic data, cardiovascular risk factors, GRACE and CRUSADE bleeding scores, left ventricular ejection fraction, and coronary anatomy. ADp platelet aggre-gation was similar for all groups (respective rates for groups A, b, C, D were 17.5 U (10.3 – 18.7) vs 20.0 U (17.3 – 26.8) vs 16 U (12 – 19) vs 12 U (8 – 22), p = 0.4). Event-free survival was significantly lower for group b (respective rates for Groups A, b, C, D were 87.5% vs 68.8% vs 96.3% vs 92.5%;p = 0.02). by multivariate Cox regression analysis, the CYp2C19 (+)*2/(-)*17 diplotype was an independent predictor of outcome, conferring a 5.2-fold higher adjusted risk for the composite endpoint than the others diplotypes. Measurements of gamma radiation （200 keV to 10 MeV） were performed between May 25 to September 30 2016 at ITA （Technological Institute of Aeronautics） in Sao Jose dos Campos, Sp, brazil. Detector and associated electronics were previously calibrated in the laboratory of ITA using radioactive sources Cs-137, po-210 and Sr-90. These sources provide gamma-ray energies in 0.662 keV alpha particles of 5.4 MeV and 0.90 keV electrons, respectively. Detector is a scintillator Sodium Iodide activated with Thallium [NaI（Tl）] associated to a photomultiplier and electronic devices which gather, store, distribute and structure data so users can analyze them. During the period of May-September, the experimental set was installed in an open room on a tower 25 meters above the ground. Measurements indicated variations of ionizing radiation in function of dry weather, rain, cold fronts passes and presence of fog in the area; the sample time interval was minute by minute. This study discusses the analysis and the dynamics of how to measure meteorological parameters using an ionizing radiation system.

Tectona grandis L.f. （teak） is native to the Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia, and today is grown in almost every tropical region, for the physical and mechanical properties of its wood. Also, important qualitative aspects render it one of the most expensive wood species in the world. This work presents a study about the physical properties and heat transfer of T. grandis wood from plantations in ***, Mato Grosso, brazil. Six trees planted at three different intervals were used--two from each planting density--selected at random and with good phytosanitary characteristics, as well as having representative diameters and heights. The following properties were determined： basic and apparent densities, volume contraction, heat transfer and fiber saturation point. The basic and apparent mean general density of the samples was 0.48 g/cm3 and 0.55 g/cm3, respectively. The mean volume contraction of the teak wood was 8.57%. With decreased levels of wood humidity, loss of volume and planting effects were not significant at 5% probability. Mean heat transfer was 7.3 h/cm and the wood fiber saturation point was 17.25%, below the range found in literature, and there was no influence of the planting density on this property. According to the results, it was concluded that planting density significantly influenced the base density of the wood; the same effect does not occur for the other physical properties, and with respect to heat transfer, the wood was considered difficult to dry.

The paracetamol has more antioxidant properties than the salicylic acid on the several oxidative stress-forced models and one possible mechanism is due to electron or hydrogen transfer by the evaluated hydroxyl radicals. The antioxidant mechanism for the compounds studied here was performed by molecular modeling using quantum chemical calculations at the b3LYp level of theory. Our results show that the paracetamol has more antioxidant properties than the salicylic acid in experimental and theoretical studies. The theoretical mechanism show that the hydrogen transfer is more favorable than the electron transfer. From the study it was concluded that the electron abstraction for paracetamol is more favored than salicylic acid.

Textile-based technologies are considered as potential routes for the production of 3D porous architectures for tissue engineering( TE) applications. We describe the use of two polymers,namely polybutylene succinate( pbS) and silk fibroin(SF) to produce fiber-based finely tuned porous architectures by weft and warp knittings. The obtained knitted constructs are described in terms of their morphology, mechanical properties,swelling ability,degradation behaviour,and cytotoxicity. Each type of polymer fibers allows for the processing of a very reproducible intra-architectural scaffold geometry,with distinct characteristics in terms of the surface physicochemistry,mechanical performance,and degradation capability,which has an impact on the resulting cell behaviour at the surface of the respective biotextiles. preliminary cytotoxicity screening shows that both materials can support cell adhesion and proliferation. Furthermore, different surface modifications were performed( acid /alkaline treatment, UV radiation,and plasma) for modulating cell behavior. An increase of cell-material interactions were observed,indicating the important role of materials surface in the first hours of culturing. Human adipose-derived stem cells( hASCs) became an emerging possibility for regenerative medicine and tissue replacement therapies. The potential of the recently developed silk-based biotextile structures to promote hASCs adhesion,proliferation,and differentiation is also evaluated. The obtained results validate the developed constructs as viable matrices for TE applications. Given the processing efficacy and versatility of the knitting technology, and the interesting structural and surface properties of the proposed polymer fibers,it is foreseen that our developed systems can be attractive for the functional engineering of tissues such as bone,skin,ligaments or cartilage and also for develop more complex systems for further industrialization of TE products.

Forage Legume Seeds Submitted to in Vitro and in Situ Fermentation Techniques

The present study was carried out to evaluate the survival rate of four tropical legume seeds submitted to different periods of ruminal incubation simulated by in vitro and in situ fermentation. The species studied were butterfly pea, stylosanthes, archer and perennial soybean. Four Holstein dairy cows fistulated in rumen were used in the in situ stage. A completely randomized design was used, in a 4 × 6 factorial arrangement (four species, six treatment periods) in the in vitro stage, with four repetitions. A completely randomized block design, arranged in a 4 × 6 factorial scheme (four species × six incubation periods), was used in the in situ stage, with four repetitions. The seeds (50 units of only one species at each repetition) were placed in erlenmeyer flask (250 mL) and were put in a 10 × 15 cm nylon bag in the in vitro stage. The times of incubation were: 6, 12, 24, 48, 96 and 144 hours and the time zero was estimated in the laboratory. The results demonstrate that, when submitted to ruminal incubation, due to their hard and impermeable teguments, legume seeds presented high resistance potential, and, thus, greater chances of germinating after passage through the gastrointestinal tract of bovines, when defecated in pastures. However, stylosanthes are not recommended for insertion in bovine feeding for this purpose, because they do not resist ruminal digestion.
