Urinary bladder c.nc.r(UBc.is a heterogeneous disease with highly variable c.inic.l outc.mes and responses to *** some advanc.s in the molec.lar understanding of UBc.this knowledge still has not been translated to the c.inic.in terms of improvements in the prognosis and treatment of *** urinary bladder tumor models representative of the human disease in terms of histology and behavior are needed to study fac.ors involved in tumor initiation,progression and ***,ac.urate model systems would fac.litate identific.tion of new therapeutic.targets and predic.ive markers that c.uld lead to optimization of existing therapies and development of new *** established c.nc.r c.ll lines derived from human urinary bladder tumors representing different grades and stages have been used as experimental models for UBc.*** c.ll lines reflec. some of the genetic.and morphologic.alterations observed in human urothelial c.rc.noma and serve as simplified models to study the behavior of c.nc.r c.lls in ***,their translational potential is limited due to the artific.al c.nditions,in whic. the c.lls are maintained,grown and *** models offer a more c.mplex and realistic.model for the establishment,development,and progression of tumors as well as to evaluate new therapeutic.*** the years,the authors'group has worked with several UBc.c.ll lines,established and c.arac.erized c.emic.lly induc.d UBc.models,and patient-derived xenografts *** this study,the authors will provide a summary of the UBc.models developed by their group,analyze their translational potential and weaknesses,and define areas that remain to be explored.

Variability of Air-Sea c._(2) Fluxes and Dissolved Inorganic.c.rbon Distribution in the Atlantic.Basin:A c.upled Model Analysis

The biogeoc.emic.l dynamic. of c.rbon in the oc.an is a subjec. of fundamental interest to environmental studies. In this c.ntext, we have implemented a ten year run of the Brazilian Earth System c.upled Oc.an-Atmosphere Model (BESM-OA2.3) integrated with TOPAZ biogeoc.emic.l model for the Atlantic.basin. The modeled Δpc.2 for the tropic.l Atlantic.shows very c.early a high dominanc. of positive fluxes, that is, the c.2 fluxes are sea-to-air throughout the tropic.l region and for both winter and summer periods. In the mid-latitudes regions negatives fluxes (air-to-sea) were observed for both seasons. An exc.ption to this pattern is an extensive negative tongue on the latitude 10N. The oc.urrenc. of this negative Δpc.2 tongue region in the Tropic.l Atlantic.is highly c.rrelated to negative Evaporation-Prec.pitation values during this season. In the northern hemisphere (NH) summer the negative values of Δpc.2 in the tropic.l Atlantic.region are c.nc.ntrated in the adjac.nt zone of the Amazon river mouth due to the North Equatorial c.unter c.rrent intensific.tion. This proc.ss favors the formation of a c.rbon sink in the adjac.nt region of the Amazon river mouth. Model results show lowest values of dissolved inorganic.c.rbon (DIc. in a surfac. layer (100 - 150 m). Highest DIc.values are observed in deeper layers and c.nc.ntrated in an equatorial band. The c.lorophyll bloom in equatorial zones was well represented by the model. These blooms are the result of equatorial upwelling that brings the high c.nc.ntration tongues of DIc.present in the equatorial band towards the euphotic.zone. This is the first published paper about the BESM-OA2.3 integrated with TOPAZ. The presented results suggest that this modeling system is able to reproduc. the main regional c.rbon dynamic. features of the mid-latitude/tropic.l Atlantic.

Objec.ive: To evaluate the alpha-defensin (α-DF) genes polymorphism in women with vulvovaginal c.ndidiasis and rec.rrenc.. Methods: This observational study inc.uded c.inic.l vaginal sec.etion samples c.llec.ed over four years from 88 women, ranging in age from 18 to 65 years, from medic.l c.nters of Sao Paulo and Mogi das c.uzes, Brazil. Thirty-six of these women were asymptomatic.(c.ntrol group) and 52 presented c.inic.l c.ndition c.mpatible with vulvovaginitis (38 primary or episodic.as non-rec.rrent forms, and 14 rec.rrent vulvovaginal c.ndidiasis). A portion of eac. sample was plated on Sabouraud dextrose agar with c.loramphenic.l and grown on c.ROMagar c.ndida for presumptive c.arac.erization. The identific.tion of the spec.es was obtained by sequenc.ng of the ITS1 region of rDNA. α-DF genes were amplified for subsequent evaluation of polymorphisms by endonuc.ease restric.ion assay. Results: From 88 samples were isolated 60 c.ndida albic.ns and 28 non-albic.ns c.ndida spp. Resistant c. albic.ns strains and non-albic.ns c.ndida spp. were more prevalent in rec.rrenc.. In all groups, the number of resistant non-albic.ns c.ndida spp. was most high than susc.ptible strains. α-DF1, α-DF3 and α-DF1/α-DF3 genotypes were found in 32 (36.4%), 17 (19.3%), 6 (6.8%) vaginal samples, respec.ively. About 33 samples were not amplified. Rec.rrenc. and severe disease were more observed in homozygous population. c.nc.usions: Non-albic.ns c.ndida spp. and homozygotic.α-DF genotipes (α-DF1 and α-DF3) were more related with severe c.inic.l signs and rec.rrenc.. Further studies about vulvovaginal c.ndidiasis and α-DF genes are nec.ssary to ac.ess the more c.mprehensive role of defensins in c.inic.l manifestations.

The effec. of sodium reduc.ion and Lac.obac.llus ac.dophilus addition(free or mic.oenc.psulated)on the quality parameters of requeijao c.emoso proc.ssed c.eese was assessed for 90 days at 5℃.Three formulations were prepared:(c.NT)regular salt c.ntent and c.rd fusion(90℃/2 min),(FREE)reduc.d salt c.ntent+free probiotic.c.lture added after c.rd fusion(90℃/2 min),and(MIc.O)reduc.d salt c.ntent+mic.oenc.psulated probiotic.c.lture added before c.rd fusion(70℃/5 min).FREE and MIc.O formulations showed inc.eased monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty ac.d c.ntent,improved health indic.s(dec.eases in thrombogenic.index and inc.eases in desirable fatty ac.d index),and altered rheologic.l properties(higher c.nsistenc. index,apparent visc.sity,elastic.properties,and gel strength).In addition,the MIc.O formulation showed higher texture sensory ac.eptanc. and probiotic.c.unts higher than 6 log c.U/g during storage and simulated gastrointestinal ***,mic.oenc.psulation of probiotic. with spray c.illing represents an innovative solution in requeijao c.emoso proc.ssed c.eese.

In this paper, we use DEA to measure the NBA basketball teams’ effic.enc. in seasons 2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. In this c.ntext, eac. team is a DMU;we selec. the payroll and the average attendanc. to be the inputs while the wins and the average points per game to be the outputs. First, in order to obtain benc.marks, we measure the DMUs effic.enc. through c.assic.DEA Bc. model with an assuranc. region for eac. one of the four seasons individually and together. When we c.nsider the four seasons together, we may analyse whether the performanc. of eac. team inc.eases or dec.eases over time. Next, we evaluate the teams c.oss effic.enc. by DEA game to c.nsider that there is no c.operation among DMUs. This approac. also improves the effic.enc.es disc.imination.

This artic.e presents the modal frequenc. rec.rdings of a rigid bridge, monitored by the GPS rec.ivers (Global Positioning System) with a data rec.rding rate of 100 Hz and ac.elerometers. The GPS data proc.ssing was performed through the double-differenc. phase, using the adjusted interferometry tec.nique (i.e. phase residue method—PRM®). In the method, the double-differenc. phase of the c.rrier L1 is realized by using two satellites only, one was positioned at the zenith of the struc.ure and the other satellite was positioned near the horizon. The results of the parametric.adjustment of the PRM observations were finalized through software Interferometry, mathematic.l algorithm were applied and c.mpared with the ac.elerometer. The c.mparison served to validate the use of GPS as a fast and reliable instrument for the preliminary monitoring of the dynamic.behavior of the bridge, road artworks whic. are c.mmon in several c.untries, espec.ally in the Brazilian road network. The data time series from the GPS and ac.elerometers were proc.ssed using the Wavelet. The detec.ion of frequenc.es means that the c.mbination of 100 Hz GPS rec.ivers and the PRM allows detec.ing vibrations up to 5 mm. It presented signific.nt results whic. were never obtained by the Fourier Transform.
