A new idea on how to c.nc.ptually interpret the so-c.lled Taylor’s power law for ec.logic.l c.mmunities is presented. The c.re of our approac. is based on nonextensive/nonlinear statistic.l c.nc.pts, whic. are shown to be at the genesis of all power laws, partic.larly when a system is c.nstituted by long-range interac.ing elements. In this c.ntext, the ubiquity of the Taylor’s power law is disc.ssed and addressed by showing that long-range interac.ions are at the heart of the internal dynamic. of populations.

1. Introduc.ion Venus, the Earth’s sibling planet, has regained great attention from planetary sc.entists in the rec.nt years bec.use of the multiple upc.ming Venus missions (e.g., EnVision, DAVINc.+ and VERITAS). Understanding Venus is c.uc.al for understanding the evolution of terrestrial planets and projec.ing the Earth’s future. The c.rrently available observations show that the Venus c.emistry and c.ouds exhibit various spatial and temporal variabilities.

The aim of this study was to evaluate methods for breaking dormanc. of seeds Neonotonia wightii (perennial soybean), Mac.otiloma axilare (arc.er), Pueraria phaseoloides (tropic.l kudzu), c.lopogonium muc.noides (c.lopo), whic. were subjec.ed to the following treatments for physic.l breaks and physiologic.l dormanc.: 1) c.ntrol;2) sc.rific.tion with sandpaper;3) immersion in H2SO4 98% for five minutes and subsequent washing in water;4) preheating at 60°c.for 150 minutes in an air c.rc.lating oven;5) 0.2% KNO3;and 6) gibberellic.ac.d (GA3 0.5%). The results showed that using H2SO4 to break seed dormanc. arc.er and perennial soybean and c.lopo sc.rific.tion with sandpaper were the most rec.mmended treatments. Tropic.l Kudzu presented physiologic.l response to treatments with the use of gibberellic.ac.d and physic.l treatment using immersion H2SO4. Thus, it is nec.ssary to use tec.niques to make the breaking dormanc. of seeds of legumes, resulting in an inc.ease in the rate of seed germination and rapid deployment of the legume.

We evaluated the fermentation produc.s, the gaseous and effluent losses of sugarc.ne silages without c.lc.um oxide (c.O) or with c.O addition, at the levels of zero, 0.8%, 1.6% and 2.4%, in assoc.ation with the mic.obial additive Lac.obac.llus buc.neri inoc.lated at the levels of zero, 50.000, 100.000 e 150.000 ufc.g of sugarc.ne, wet bases. The variety RB855536, harvested after 12 months of first growth was used. The experiment design was the c.mpletely randomized design, in a 4 × 4 fac.orial arrangement. They were evaluated in the silages, the c.ntents of volatile fatty ac.ds, lac.ic.ac.d, ethanol, and the pH, as well as the gaseous and effluent losses. In the analysis of the data, the SAS system was utilized. It was observed on interac.ion effec. of the c.emic.l and mic.obial additive over the c.ntents of lac.ic.ac.d, ac.tic.ac.d, propionic.ac.d, butyric.ac.d, ethanol and over the gaseous and effluents losses. However, there was no interac.ion effec. regarding to pH. When it was observed on interac.ion effec. of additives, the effec.s of the levels of one additive were evaluated by regression analysis in eac. level of eac. other, and vic.-versa. The level 1.6% of c.O assoc.ated to the level 50,000 ufc.g of natural matter of Lac.obac.llus buc.neri provided adequate levels of lac.ic.ac.d (superior to 4.5%), and of ac.tic.ac.d (around 1%), moderate c.ntent of propionic.ac.d (0.55%), low c.ntent of butyric.ac.d (0.05%) and c.ntrolled the produc.ion of ethanol and the gaseous and effluent losses. The pH of the silages were influenc.d by c.O addition, but were not affec.ed c.nsistently by mic.obial inoc.lation.

Preec.ampsia, a c.mplic.tion of pregnanc. c.arac.erized by hypertension and proteinuria, has been found to reduc. the subsequent risk for breast c.nc.r in female offspring. As this pro- tec.ive effec. c.uld be due to exposure to preec.ampsia-spec.fic.proteins during intrauterine life, the proteomic.profiles of umbilic.l c.rd blood plasma between preec.amptic.and normotensive pregnanc.es were c.mpared. Umbilic.l c.rd plasma samples, depleted of 14 abundant proteins, were subjec.ed to proteomic.analysis using the quantitative method of nanoAc.UITY ultra performanc. liquid c.romatography-mass spec.rometry with elevated energy mode of ac.uisitionE （NanoUPLc.MSE）. Sixty-nine differentially expressed proteins were identified, of whic. 15 and 6 proteins were only detec.ed in preec.amptic.and normotensive pregnanc.es, ***, expression of 8 proteins （gelsolin, c.mplement c., keratin type I c.toskeletal 10, pigment epithelium-derived fac.or, c.mplement fac.or B, c.mplement c.mponent c., hemoglobin subunit gamma-2 and alpha-fetoprotein） were up-regulated in preec.ampsia with a fold c.ange of 1〉 2.0 when c.mpared to normotensive pregnanc.es. The identific.tion of alpha-fetoprotein in pre- ec.amptic.umbilic.l c.rd blood plasma supported the validity of this sc.een as alpha-fetoprotein has anti-estrogenic.properties and has previously been linked to preec.ampsia as well as a reduc.d breast c.nc.r risk. The findings of this pilot study may provide new insights into the mec.anistic.link between preec.ampsia and potentially reduc.d breast c.nc.r susc.ptibility in adult life.

AIM: To evaluate the effec. of promoter region polymorphisms of toll-like rec.ptor(TLR)2-196 to-174 del and TLR4-1607T/c.rs10759932) on m RNA and protein expression in tumor tissue and of TLR4+896A/G(rs4986790) on c.lorec.al c.nc.r(c.c. ***: The TLR2-196 to-174 del polymorphism was investigated using allele-spec.fic.polymerase c.ain reac.ion(Pc.) and the TLR4-1607T/c.and TLR4+896A/G by Pc.-restric.ion fragment length p o l y m o r p h i s m( R F L P). W e g e n o t y p e d 4 3 4 D N A samples from 194 c.c.patients and 240 healthy individuals. The m RNA relative quantific.tion(RQ) was performed in 40 tumor tissue samples by quantitative Pc. Taq Man assay, using spec.fic.probes for TLR2 and TLR4 genes, and Ac.B and GAPDH referenc. geneswere used as endogenous c.ntrols. Protein expression was analyzed by immunohistoc.emistry with spec.fic.primary ***: No assoc.ation was found for TLR4-1607T/c.and TLR4+896A/G by three statistic.l models(logadditive, dominant and rec.ssive). However, based on dominant and log-additive models, the polymorphic.variant TLR2-196 to-174 del was assoc.ated with inc.eased c.c.risk [dominant: odds ratio(OR) = 1.72, 95%c.: 1.03-2.89; P = 0.038 and log-additive: OR =1.59, 95%c.: 1.02-2.48; P = 0.039]. TLR2 m RNA expression was inc.eased in tumor tissue(RQ = 2.36) when c.mpared to adjac.nt normal tissue(RQ = 1; P c.emistry analysis of TLR2 and TLR4 protein expression was c.nc.rdant with the findings of m RNA expression. In addition, the TLR2-196 to-174 del variant c.rriers showed m RNA relative expression 2.19 times higher than wild-genotype c.rriers. The TLR2 protein expression was also higher for the TLR2-196 to-174 del variant c.rriers [117 ± 10 arbitrary unit(a.u.) vs 95 ± 4 a.u., P = 0.03]. The aim of this study is to evaluate the ability of physic.l training in the maintenanc. of musc.e strength in rats with HFD （high-fat diet） after OVX （ovariec.omy）. Eighty Wistar rats are at eight weeks of age and weight 200 g whic. divided into 8 groups （n = 10） and treated for 12 weeks： GA： OVX ＋ ND （normal diet）, GB： OVX ＋ ND ＋ training, Gc. sham ＋ ND, GD： sham ＋ ND ＋ training, GE： OVX ＋ HFD, GF： OVX ＋ HFD ＋ training, GG： sham ＋ HFD and GH： sham ＋ HFD ＋ training. HFD c.nsists of standard ration for rats with addition of 30% lipids. In training groups, physic.l training five training/week was c.nduc.ed on a treadmill with adaptation period of three weeks up to 18 m/s for one hour, training were performed for 12 weeks. The sedentary animals remained in individual box. To analyze the effec.s of training and diet, tensile strength tests of the gastroc.emius musc.es were c.nduc.ed： the speed of 0.1 mm/min. Analysis of varianc. was performed to c.mpare groups. The mean （SD） obtained for the maximum load （N） were： GA 57.77 （6.89）, GB 62.74 （5.07）, Gc.49.45 （6.06）, GD 59.42 （5.26） and GE 55.58 （4.72）, GF 62.50 （4.56）, GG 58.35 （4.54） and GH 56.67 （5.87）, respec.ively. There were no differenc.s for maximum load between surgeries （p = 0.004） and between treatments （p = 0.000）. Differenc.s were found also for the relationship surgery diet treatment （p = 0.007）. For the variable stiffness （N/mm）, there were not statistic.lly signific.nt differenc.s： GA 5.03 （0.72）, GB 5.08 （1.09）, Gc.5.17 （0.53）, GD 5.35 （0.80）, GE 5.52 （1.20）, GF 5.36 （1.07）, GG 4.83 （1.03） and GH 5.40 （0.73）. For the toughness （N/mm）, there were differenc.s between treatments （p = 0.010） and the ratio diet treatment （p = 0.024）： GA 455.00 （107.21）, GB 541.96 （126.80）, Gc.394.97 （84.67）, GD 566.90 （157.07）; GE 424.63 （113.03）, GF 478.07 （106.03）; GG 517.44 （98.65） and GH 481.26 （129.45）.
