Mercury in sediments and vegetation in a moderately contaminated salt marsh (Tagus Estuary, Portugal)

Depth variations of total mercury （Hg） and methylmercury （MeHg） concentrations were studied in cores from non-colonized sediments, sediments colonized by Halimione portulacoides, Sarcocornia fruticosa and Spartina maritima and belowground biomass, in a moderately contaminated salt marsh （Tagus Estuary, Portugal）. Concentrations in belowground biomass exceeded up to 3 （Hg） and 15 （MeHg） times the levels in sediments, and up to 198 （Hg） and 308 （MeHg） times those found in aboveground parts. Methylmercury in colonized sediments reached 3% of the total Hg, 50 times above the maximum values found in non-colonized sediments. The absence of correlations between total Hg concentrations in sediments and the corresponding MeHg levels suggested that methylation was only dependent on the environmental and microbiological factors. The analysis of belowground biomass at high-depth resolution （2 cm） provided evidence that Hg and MeHg were actively absorbed from sediments, with higher enrichment factors at layers where higher microbial activity was probably occurring. The results obtained in this study indicated that the biotransformation of Hg to the toxic MeHg could increase the toxicity of plant-colonized sediments.

Pharmaceutical scientists throughout the world are trying to explore thin films as a novel drug delivery tool. Thin films have been identified as an alternative approach to conventional dosage forms. The thin films are considered to be convenient to swallow, selfadministrable, and fast dissolving dosage form, all of which make it as a versatile platform for drug delivery. This delivery system has been used for both systemic and local action via several routes such as oral, buccal, sublingual, ocular, and transdermal routes. The design of efficient thin films requires a comprehensive knowledge of the pharmacological and pharmaceutical properties of drugs and polymers along with an appropriate selection of manufacturing processes. Therefore, the aim of this review is to provide an overview of the critical factors affecting the formulation of thin films, including the physico-chemical properties of polymers and drugs, anatomical and physiological constraints, as well as the characterization methods and quality specifications to circumvent the difficulties associated with formulation design. It also highlights the recent trends and perspectives to develop thin film products by various companies.

Aims and Objectives: To report a synthesis of the literature on the meaning of trust in the context of patients’ experiences of nursing. The review question was “How do patients describe the meaning of trust in the nursing relationship?” Background: Trust is essential in nursing as it has the potential to create opportunities for the human being to gain faith, hope and meaning in life as well as open up for new experiences. Trust is an interpersonal and essential element of all patient-nurse relationships and requires nurses to create a trusting relationship with the patients. Design: Systematic qualitative literature review. Methods: Systematic searches were conducted for the period January 2002 to December 2012, updated in January 2014. 20 papers were included. Results: Four categories emerged: Attitudes related to trust, indicating that trust is fundamental and existential;Experiences of trust, concerning how trust can be sensed;The patient-nurse relationship, revealing the qualities of the person who creates trust;and Where trust occurs, illuminating the contextual relevancies of trust. Conclusions: Patients’ experiences of trust in nursing are dependent on the nurses’ knowledge, level of commitment in the dialogue to creating and developing the relationship and contextual issues. Implications for nursing practice: Reflection on a trusting relationship with the patient is necessary for a deeper conceptual understanding of trust in nursing. Clinical nurse researchers nurse supervisors, managers and nurse educatorsshould discuss different areas of trust during nursing supervision and focus-group meetings as well as with nursing graduates to ensure that nurses develop knowledge of how to create a trusting patient-nurse relationship.

该银矿区位于东南密苏里州圣·弗兰科依斯山脉的弗雷德里克城以西约14km,矿区钨-锡“银矿床中矿体呈扁豆状、透镜状以及不规则状产出在石英脉和云英岩中,与前寒武纪银矿化花岗岩共生。矿石中矿物生成序列比较复杂,可分为四个阶段:云英岩阶段、早期石英脉阶段、主要硫化物阶段和晚期石英脉阶段.云英岩及早期石英脉阶段含有钨-锡矿化(黑钨矿-锡石)。主要硫化物阶段以贱金属和贵金属矿化为特征.包括含银砷黝铜矿、锑硫砷铜银矿以及板硫铋铜铅矿。晚期石英脉阶段没有经济意义。流体包体数据表明,钨-锡矿化发生在温度为380°—250℃之间,成矿流体的盐度(为20.0—8.0％,ωNaGl)的贱金属及贵金属矿化则由较低的温度(270℃—150℃)和盐度变化较大(23.3—5.0％,ωNaGl)的流体形成的。贯穿于共生全过程的沸腾的流体包体事实表明,在云英岩,早期石英及主要硫化物等不同阶段。压力介于小到100至近于350bar之间。这一压力范围约相当于1.25km的矿化深度所受的压力,即变化于流体静压力及岩石静压力之间. 热液流体的氢、氧同位素值表明,D和^(18)O值从云英岩和早期石英脉阶段(δD=-52-77‰,δ^(18)O=5.2-4.8‰)到主要硫化物阶段(δD=-81-102‰,δ^(18)O=+2.0-5.3‰)逐渐降低。这些特征表明原始岩浆钨-锡热液流体系逐渐被沉积铅-锌-银的大气水所代替.紧随钨-锡阶段共生组合的稳定同位素组成的显著变化表明,银矿区热液体系的热力学很可能受构造控制。银矿区矿床的稳定同位素特征与其它含钨热液矿床的稳定同位素特征的对比表明,构造条件可能控制钨及其共生金属从冷却的深成岩体中转移并在金属矿床中富集的方式。
