Socioeconomic and environmental losses caused by water erosion have highlighted the importance of quantifying and understanding the dynamics of soil redistribution in the landscape to develop effective soil management *** methods are applied to estimate erosion/deposition rates and identify sources of sediments,among them,the one that uses rare earth elements(REE)as a tracer stands ***,an alternative not yet explored that can benefit the accuracy of the estimates provided by the method is using a tracer containing a chemical signature composed of more than one *** present study aimed to evaluate the performance of a new water erosion tracer based on montmoril-lonite labeled with rare earth elements(La40-MMT).The innovative aspects of this La40-MMT tracer include its highly stable multi-chemical signature(Nd^(3+),La^(3+),and Pr^(3+)),which enhances tracer detection in the environment,and its low production cost due to the use of an industrial residue in the synthesis *** tracer was evaluated for a typical soil of the cerrado biome,using a natural rainfall field-scale plot-NRFP(5 m × 20 m)and a physical predictive erosion model(WEPP).The results showed that the La40-MMT tracer could be used to estimate erosion/deposition rates,with agreement between the values observed with the tracer and the WEPP ***,this study confirmed the great potential of La40-MMT as a tool to identify patterns of soil redistribution at the field scale and aid in the validation of erosion models.

Uncovering the uncertainty: Risk factors and clinical relevance of P1 lesions on small bowel capsule endoscopy of anemic patients

AIM To identify risk factors for P1 lesions on small bowel capsule endoscopy(SBcE) and to describe the natural history of anemic patients with such type of *** one hundred patients were consecutively selected for a case-control analysis performed between 37 cases with P1 lesions and 63 controls with negative SBcE. Age, gender, comorbidities and regular medication were collected. Rebleeding, further investigational studies and death were also analyzed during the *** No significant differences on gender, median age or charlson index were found between groups. Although no differences were found on the use of proton pump inhibitors, acetylsalicylic acid, anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents, the use of non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs(NSAID) was associated with a higher risk of P1 lesions(oR = 12.00, 95%cI: 1.38-104.1). From the 87 patients followed at our center, 39 were submitted to additional studies for investigation of iron-deficiency anemia(IDA), and this was significantly more common in those patients with no findings on SBcE(53.7% vs 30.3%, P = 0.033). A total of 29 patients had at least one rebleeding or IDA recurrence episode and 9 patients died of non-anemia related causes but no differences were found between cases and *** P1 lesions are commonly found in patients with IDA submitted to SBcE. The use of NSAID seems to be a risk factor for P1 lesions. The outcomes of patients with P1 lesions do not differ significantly from those with P0 lesions or normal SBcE.

The colider and Roosevelt olcanic rocks (sw amazonian craton): geochemistry and sm-nd isotope characteristics of a silicic large igneous province

The volcanic rocks of the colíder and Roosevelt formations are extensively exposed in the south-central portion of the Amazonian craton where effusive and pyroclastic rocks have been *** units,topped by chemical sediments and oceanic facies as rhyolite and andesite lavas,rhyodacite,and porphyritic dacite,with frequent intercalations of pyroclastic and epiclastic ***-rock geochemistry for 55 samples of rhyolitic to andesitic composition suggests the involvement of fertile mantle-derived components with E-MoRB to oIB *** analyzed rocks display calc-alkaline to shoshonitic affinity consistent with generation related to an active continental *** whole-rock Sm-Nd isotope data from selected felsic volcanic rocks of the colíder and Roosevelt formations yield negative initial eNd values between–3 and–9,indicating the predominantly crustal nature of the parental magmas with early Archean to late Paleoproterozoic(ca.2.5–2.0 Ga)depleted mantle model ages.

In this paper we introduce a method of analysis for the automated ordenng and selection or solutions of a multicriteria shortest path model. The method is based on a reference point approach, where the paths in a specific priority region are ranked by non-decreasing order of a chebyshev metric. In order to list paths according with this objective function a labelling algorithm is proposed. The developed method is applied in a video-traffic routing context. computational results are presented and analysed, for randomly generated networks of significant dimension.

A self-supporting ZSM-5 monolith with a hierarchical porosity was prepared using polyurethane foam (PUF) as a structural template and a hydrothermal synthesis procedure. The synthesized monolith was characterized and investigated towards the adsorption and catalytic oxidation of trichloroethylene (TcE). Adsorption of TcE was studied gravimetrically and oxidation of TcE was studied using a vapor-phase down-flow reactor. Monolithic ZSM-5 displayed good sorption properties and completely oxidized TcE. conversion levels of 50% and 90% were achieved at reduced temperatures (by ∼50 °c) when compared with the conversion temperatures obtained from the powder counterparts. Besides the activity of the monolith towards TcE adsorption and oxidation, it was stable and enhanced diffusion, thereby reducing pressure drops to a great extent owing to its hierarchical porous nature.

Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium rank among the leading causes of nosocomial bacteremia and urinary tract infections. They often persist on hospital surfaces due to their ability to withstand adverse environmental conditions (low or high temperatures, high pH, and high salinity). The global Enterococcus faecalis-Enterococcus faecium ratio is currently shifting towards Enterococcus faecium. Enterococci present variable levels of resistance to certain families of antibiotics. This is the case for aminoglycosides, beta-lactams and cephalosporins. In 2017, WHo ranked Enterococci among priority pathogens for research and development of new antibiotics. The objective of our study was to determine the antibiotic resistance profile of Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium isolates from urine and pleural fluid in two hospitals in cameroon. This cross-sectional and analytic study was carried out between June to August 2023 on hospitalized and day patients in which a cytobacteriological test of urine and pleural fluid was done. The samples were inoculated on cLED Agar for urine and on chocolate + polyvitex and blood agar (prepared from columbia agar) for pleural fluid samples and incubated at 37℃ for 18 to 24 hours. Identification of isolates was carried out using the API 20 STREP micro gallery (Biomerieux, France) and tested for antimicrobial susceptibility. The data on socio-demographical and potential risk factors were recorded using self-administered questionnaires and data from laboratory analyses of the specimen were collected in a data capture sheet. Potential risk factors associated with the presence of Enterococci, were evaluated using the logistic regression in univariate and multivariate analysis. P value considered as significant. A total of 511 patients were recruited who were predominantly females. Enterococcus spp were isolated in 27.79% of our samples with Enterococcus faecalis mostly encountered. The management of information systems contributes to the economic development of the construction sector by organizing and structuring technical and economic information. It is proposed how BIM (Building Information Modelling) and a Portuguese information system-ProNIc (abbreviation for Protocol for the Standardization of construction Technical Information) may be interconnected. The scope of this information transmission in construction sector is a step to solve several problems that have been identified in conception of BIM models.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process involving generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places, which can be exchanged or networked to support decision-making in architecture, engineering and construction (AEc) sector. BIM is a relatively new technology in an industry typically slow to adopt changes, especially in Portugal. The present paper aims to frame the international implementation of BIM in order to propose a roadmap to spread the use of BIM methodologies in Portugal in the next decade.

The Paraiba do Sul(PSR)and Guandu Rivers(GR)water diversion system(120 km long)is located in the main industrial pole of Brazil and supplies drinking water for 9.4 million people in the metropolitan region of Rio de *** study aims to discern the trace metals dynamics in this complex aquatic *** used a combined approach of geochemical tools such as geochemical partitioning,Zn isotopes signatures,and multivariate *** and Pb concentrations in Suspended Particulate Matter(SPM)and sediments were considerably higher in some *** sediment partition of As,cr,and cu revealed the residual fraction(F4)as the main fraction for these elements,indicating low *** and Pb were mostly associated with the exchangeable/carbonate(F1)and the reducible(F2)fractions,respectively,implying a higher susceptibility of these elements to being released from *** isotopic compositions of sediments and SPM fell in a binary mixing source process between lithogenic(δ^(66/64)Zn_(JMc)≈+0.30‰)and anthropogenic(δ^(66/64)Zn_(JMc)≈+0.15‰)end *** lighterδ^(66/64)Zn_(JMc)values accompanied by high Zn concentrations in exchangeable/carbonate fraction(ZnF1)enable the tracking of Zn anthropogenic sources in the studied ***,the results indicated that Hg,Pb,and Zn had a dominant anthropogenic origin linked to the industrial activities,while As,cr,and cu were mainly associated with lithogenic *** work demonstrates how integrating geochemical tools is valuable for assessing geochemical processes and mixing source effects in anthropized river watersheds.

Assessment of postcombustion carbon capture technologies for power generation
