Recent advances in laser self-injection locking to high-Q microresonators

The stabilization and manipulation of laser frequency by means of an external cavity are nearly ubiquitously used in fundamental research and laser applications. While most of the laser light transmits through the cavity, in the presence of some back-scattered light from the cavity to the laser, the self-injection locking effect can take place, which locks the laser emission frequency to the cavity mode of similar frequency. The self-injection locking leads to dramatic reduction of laser linewidth and noise. Using this approach, a common semiconductor laser locked to an ultrahigh-Q microresonator can obtain sub-Hertz linewidth, on par with state-of-the-art fiber lasers. Therefore it paves the way to manufacture high-performance semiconductor lasers with reduced footprint and cost. moreover, with high laser power, the optical nonlinearity of the microresonator drastically changes the laser dynamics, offering routes for simultaneous pulse and frequency comb generation in the same microresonator. Particularly, integrated photonics technology, enabling components fabricated via semiconductor CmOS process, has brought increasing and extending interest to laser manufacturing using this method. In this article, we present a comprehensive tutorial on analytical and numerical methods of laser self-injection locking, as well a review of most recent theoretical and experimental achievements.

Trade-Offs and Synergie Effects of Regulating Ecosystem Services along an Climatic Gradient in Slovakia

This study aims to assess the synergies and trade-offs of regulating ecosystem services. Ecosystem services are non-linearly interconnected and changes in one service can positively or negatively affect another. We evaluated ecosystem services based on biophysical indicators using an expert scoring system that determines the corresponding soil functions and is part of the existing databases available in Slovakia. This methodological combination enabled us to provide unique mapping and assessment of ecosystem services within Slovakia. Correlation analysis between individual regulating ecosystem services and climate regions, slope, texture, and altitude confirm the statistically significant influence of climate and slope in all agricultural land, arable land, and grassland ecosystems. Statistically significant synergistic effects were established between the regulation of the water regime and the regulation of soil erosion within each climate region, apart from the very warm climate region. Only in a very warm climate region was potential of regulating ecosystem services mutually beneficial for soil erosion control and soil cleaning potential (immobilization of inorganic pollutants).

Porous materials have many applications for laser–matter interaction experiments related to inertial confinement *** new knowledge about the properties of the laser-produced plasma of porous media is a challenging *** this work,we report,for the first time to the best of our knowledge,the time-dependent measurement of the reflected light of a terawatt laser pulse from the laser-produced plasma of low-Z foam material of overcritical *** experiments have been performed with the ABC laser,with targets constituted by foam of overcritical density and by solid media of the same chemical *** implemented in the mULTI-Fm code a model for the light reflection to reproduce and interpret the experimental *** the simulations together with the experimental results,we indicate a criterion for estimating the homogenization time of the laser-produced plasma,whose measurement is challenging with direct diagnostic techniques and still not achieved.

We deal with the Fourier-like analysis of functions on discrete grids in two-dimensional simplexes using C- and E-Weyl group orbit functions. For these cases, we present the convolution theorem. We provide an example of application of image processing using the C-functions and the convolutions for spatial filtering of the treated image.

Green synthesis of Ag nanoparticles: Effect of algae life cycle on Ag nanoparticle production and long-term stability

Spherical Ag nanoparticles（AgNPs） were biologically synthesized using four different extracts prepared from Parachlorella kessleri algae cultivated for 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks. The influence of algae life cycle on AgNPs formation and effect of different storage conditions on AgNPs long-term stability were investigated. The age of algae influenced the rate of AgNPs synthesis and amount of AgNPs in solution. The age of algae did not influence the AgNPs long-term stability. UV–vis and TEm observation revealed that long-term stability of AgNPs can be influenced by storage temperatures, and low temperature positively influences the AgNPs stability. AgNPs stored at dark and at temperature of ~5 °C showed the best long-term stability regardless of the culture age. Such AgNPs remained spherical, fine（5-20 nm） and stable（no agglomeration） even after 6 months.

The personality of the teacher is an indispensable part in the educational process. A teacher leads student learning activities and influences them educationally. The main task of a teacher is to lead a pupil towards the self-development of their own potential. This development is also influenced by the relationship between student and teacher and their views on the profession. The paper presents results of a research survey, which was implemented on the basis of a questionnaire among pupils of the first, third and fifth grades. The primary objective was to determine how children perceive their teachers and what features pupils expect from them. The secondary objective was to determine the behaviour of teachers during lessons and the actual relationship of a teacher to a pupil.

Ni/Al2O3 catalysts for oxidative dehydrogenation(ODH) of ethane were prepared by impregnation of Al2O3 with nickel acetate or nickel nitrate,and by mechanical mixing of NiO and *** Ni-based catalysts were characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption,X-ray diffraction,diffuse reflectance UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy,and temperature-programmed reduction of *** results showed that formation of crystalline NiO particles with a size of m and/or non-stoichiometric NiO species in the Ni/Al2O3 catalysts led to more active species in ODH of ethane under the investigated reaction *** contrast,tetrahedral Ni species present in the catalysts led to higher selectivity for *** of large crystalline NiO particles(22-32 nm) over Ni/Al2O3 catalysts decreased the selectivity for ethene.

Factors Influencing the Acidification Trends in Agriculture Soils: A Case Study of Slovakia

This study aims to evaluate the development of soil reaction values in 15 key localities of soil Partial monitoring System from 1994 to 2023, and to identify the most important regional drivers of pH value development. Soil samples were collected from the depth 0 - 0.10 m yearly in the spring (5 samples from each locality). In the dry soil, samples were determined actively and exchanged soil reaction. The most significant negative changes (decreases of soil reaction) were determined in Haplic Stagnosols group and Cambisols group. The pH value in topsoil is primarily controlled by soil type and soil substrate, soil management and land use, and to a lesser extent by climatic region.

Current State and Development of the Soil Health Index in Localities with Various Soil-Climatic Conditions in the Slovak Republic

The aim of the study was to assess the current state and development of the Soil Health Index (SHI) at 13 localities with various soil-ecological conditions in the Slovak Republic. The SHI was developed using a minimum soil data set, physical and chemical soil parameters in combination with environmental parameters (land use, gradients). The SHI is one numerical value accumulates information about the state of soil health and its ability to provide soil functions and thus ecosystems in the optimal range. The highest SHI values were determined at model localities used as arable land (Haplic Chernozem, Fluvisol) located in a warm climate at altitudes up to 200 meters above sea level. Ecosystems with very low and low value are mostly grasslands with mildly cold climate (Cambisol) and considerable slope, agroecosystem on low organic matter (Arenosol). Arable ecosystem SHI is also reduced in areas of geochemical anomalies and areas with anthropogenic load, where there is a higher content of risk elements. The SHI changes are mainly the result of changes in dynamic indicators such as soil response and soil bulk density.
