Many problems in physics are inherently of multi-scale nature. The issues of MHD turbulence or magnetic reconnection, namely in the hot and sparse, almost collision-less astrophysical plasmas, can stand as clear examples. The Finite Element Method (FEM) with adaptive gridding appears to be the appropriate numerical implementation for handling the broad range of scales contained in such high Lundquist-number MHD problems. In spite the FEM is now routinely used in engineering practice in solid-state and fluid dynamics, its usage for MHD simulations has recently only begun and only few implementations exist so far. In this paper we present our MHD solver based on the Least-Square FEM (LSFEM) formulation. We describe the transformation of the MHD equations into form required for finding the LSFEM functional and some practical issues in implementation of the method. The algorithm was tested on selected problems of ideal (non-resistive) and resistive MHD. The tests show the usability of LSFEM for solving MHD equations.

We present an experimental study of the dynamics of shocks generated by the interaction of a double-spot laser in different kinds of targets:simple aluminum foils and foam-aluminum layered *** experiment was performed using the Prague PALS iodine laser working at 0.44μm wavelength and irradiance of a few 10^(15)W/cm^(2).Shock breakouts for pure Al and for foam-Al targets have been recorded using time-resolved self-emission *** results have been compared with numerical *** shocks originating from two spots move forward and expand radially in the targets,finally colliding in the intermediate region and producing a very strong increase in *** is particularly clear for the case of foam layered targets,where we also observed a delay of shock breakout and a spatial redistribution of the *** influence of the foam layer doped with high-Z(Au)nanoparticles on the shock dynamics was also studied.

Today we witness the exponential growth of scientific research. This fast growth is possible thanks to the rapid development of computing systems since its first days in 1947 and the invention of transistor till the present days with high performance and scalable distributed computing systems. This fast growth of computing systems was first observed by Gordon E. Moore in 1965 and postulated as Moore’s Law. For the development of the scalable distributed computing systems, the year 2000 was a very special year. The first GHz speed processor, GB size memory and GB/s data transmission through network were achieved. Interestingly, in the same year the usable Grid computing systems emerged, which gave a strong impulse to a rapid development of distributed computing systems. This paper recognizes these facts that occurred in the year 2000, as the G-phenomena, a millennium cornerstone for the rapid development of scalable distributed systems evolved around the Grid and Cloud computing paradigms.

The goal of this paper focuses on the development of dew computing, including its origins, research status, development status,and its impact on the transition history of Internet computing paradigms. By gathering and studying all the research papers related to dew computing that we are aware of, we found that these papers can be classified into three groups: dew computing early explorations, dew computing feature research, and dew computing application research. Commercial development in the dew computing area also has progressed fast recently; many dew computing products were developed and put into the market. To distinguish dew computing from other Internet computing paradigms and to reveal its essential features, we analyze the transition history of the Internet computing paradigms from information location and distribution aspects. Online impact and redundancy rate are two indices introduced to perform the analysis. The analysis reveals that dew computing is significantly different from other Internet computing paradigms.

The discovery of the essential difference of maximum ion energy for TW-pslaser plasma interaction compared with, the 100 ns laser pulses led to the theory of a skin layermodel where the control of prepulses suppressed the usual relativistic self-focusing. The subsequentgeneration of two nonlinear force driven blocks has been demonstrated experimentally and inextensive numerical studies where one block moves against the laser light and the other block intothe irradiated target. These blocks of nearly solid state density DT plasma correspond to ion beamcurrent densities exceeding 10^(10) A/cm^2 where the ion velocity can be chosen up to highlyrelativistic values. Using the results of the expected ignition of DT fuel by light ion beams, aself-sustained fusion reaction front may be generated even into uncompressed solid DT fuel similarto the Nuckolls-Wood scheme where 10 kJ laser pulses produce 100 MJ fusion energy. This new andsimplified scheme of laser-ICF needs and optimisation of the involved parameters.
