Losartan Protects Podocytes against High Glucose-induced Injury by Inhibiting B7-1 Expression

The role of B7-1 in podocyte injury has received increasing *** aim of this study was to investigate whether losartan protects podocytes of patients with diabetic kidney disease(DKD)by regulating B7-1 and the underlying *** with streptozotocin-induced DKD were treated with losartan for 8 *** changes in blood and urine were *** were isolated for electron microscopy,immunofluorescence,real-time quantitative PCR(RT-PCR),and Western blot *** mouse podocyte cells were cultured in normal or high glucose medium in the presence or absence of losartan for 48 h,and then the cells were collected for immunofluorescence,PCR,Western blotting and monolayer permeability *** phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)110a subunit and angiotensin II type 1 receptor(AT1R)plasmids were transfected into podocytes,respectively,and then Western blotting was performed to assess the expression of B7-1 *** results showed that losartan ameliorated podocyte structure and function in the rat model of DKD,and reduced the expression of B7-1 *** of PI3K 110a subunit in podocytes attenuated the inhibitory effect of losartan on B7-1 expression in high glucose-stimulated *** expression of B7-1 was significantly increased by overexpression of ATI R and significantly reduced by blocking PI3K 110a *** conclude that losartan protects podocytes against high glucose-induced injury by inhibiting AT1R-mediated B7-1 *** effect is dependent on the AT1R-PI3K 110a subunit pathway.

Slowly rotating charges from Weyl double copy for Kerr black hole with Chern-Simons correction

The Weyl double copy builds the relation between gauge theory and gravity theory, in particular the correspondence between gauge solutions and gravity solutions. In this paper, we obtain the slowly rotating charge solutions from the Weyl double copy for the Kerr black hole with small Chern-Simons correction. Based on the Weyl double copy relation, for the Petrov type D solution in Chern-Simons modified gravity, we find the additional correction to the electromagnetic field strength tensor of the rotating charge. For the Petrov type I solution, we find that the additional electromagnetic field strength tensors have external sources, while the total sources vanish at the leading order.

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by memory and cognitive *** two primary pathological hallmarks of AD include the accumulation ofβ-amyloid(Aβ)plaques and formation of neurofibrillary tangles(NFTs)composed predominantly of hyperphosphorylated tau protein(zhang et al.,2023).Moreover,synaptic dysfunction is considered another crucial factor in AD pathogenesis and is closely associated with cognitive ***,synaptic damage,loss,and dysfunction manifest earlier than the pathological features of Aβplaques and NFTs(Knopman et al.,2021).Therefore,understanding the mechanisms underlying synaptic dysfunction in AD is vital for providing insights into disease mechanisms and developing novel therapeutic strategies.

Inflammasomes are large protein complexes that play a major role in sensing inflammatory signals and triggering the innate immune *** inflammasome complex has three major components:an upstream sensor molecule that is connected to a downstream effector protein such as caspase-1 through the adapter protein *** formation typically occurs in response to infectious agents or cellular *** active inflammasome then triggers caspase-1 activation,followed by the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and pyroptotic cell *** inflammasome activation and activity contribute to the development of diabetes,cancer,and several cardiovascular and neurodegenerative *** a result,recent research has increasingly focused on investigating the mechanisms that regulate inflammasome assembly and activation,as well as the potential of targeting inflammasomes to treat various *** clinical trials are currently underway to evaluate the therapeutic potential of several distinct inflammasome-targeting ***,understanding how different inflammasomes contribute to disease pathology may have significant implications for developing novel therapeutic *** this article,we provide a summary of the biological and pathological roles of inflammasomes in health and *** also highlight key evidence that suggests targeting inflammasomes could be a novel strategy for developing new disease-modifying therapies that may be effective in several conditions.

Serum vitamin D_3 does not correlate with liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C

AIM: To investigate the relationship between serum vitamin D3 levels and liver fibrosis or inflammation in treatment-naive Chinese patients with chronic hepatitis C(CHC).METHODS: From July 2010 to June 2011, we enrolled 122 CHC patients and 11 healthy controls from Dingxicity, Gansu Province, China. The patients were infected with Hepatitis C virus(HCV) during blood cell retransfusion following plasma donation in 1992-1995, and had never received antiviral treatment. At present, all the patients except two underwent liver biopsy with ultrasound guidance. The Scheuer Scoring System was used to evaluate hepatic inflammation and the Metavir Scoring System was used to evaluate hepatic fibrosis. Twelve-hour overnight fasting blood samples were collected in the morning of the day of biopsy. Serum levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, cholineste rase, prothrom binactivity, albumin, γ-glutamyl transpeptidase, hemoglobin, calcium and phosphorus were determined. Serum HCV RNA levels were measured by real-time PCR. Serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 [25(OH)D3] and 24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [24,25(OH)2D3] were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.R E S U LT S : Serumlevels of 2 5(OH) D3 but not 24,25(OH)2D3 were significantly lower in CHC patients than in control subjects. Serum 25(OH)D3 levels did not correlate with liver fibrosis, inflammation, patient age, or levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, prothrombin activity, cholinesterase or HCV RNA. However, serum 25(OH)D3 levels did correlate with serum 24,25(OH)2D3 levels. Lightweight infrared stealth and absorption-dominant electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials are highly desirable in areas of aerospace,weapons,military and wearable ***,lightweight and high-efficiency dual-functional segregated nanocomposite foams with microcellular structures are developed for integrated infrared stealth and absorption-dominant EMI shielding via the efficient and scalable supercritical CO_(2)(SC-CO_(2))foaming combined with hydrogen bonding assembly and compression molding *** obtained lightweight segregated nanocomposite foams exhibit superior infrared stealth performances benefitting from the synergistic effect of highly effective thermal insulation and low infrared emissivity,and outstanding absorption-dominant EMI shielding performances attributed to the synchronous construction of microcellular structures and segregated ***,the segregated nanocomposite foams present a large radiation temperature reduction of 70.2℃ at the object temperature of 100℃,and a significantly improved EM wave absorptivity/reflectivity(A/R)ratio of 2.15 at an ultralow Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) content of 1.7 vol%.Moreover,the segregated nanocomposite foams exhibit outstanding working reliability and stability upon dynamic compression *** results demonstrate that the lightweight and high-efficiency dual-functional segregated nanocomposite foams have excellent potentials for infrared stealth and absorption-dominant EMI shielding applications in aerospace,weapons,military and wearable electronics.

In engineering application,there is only one adaptive weights estimated by most of traditional early warning radars for adaptive interference suppression in a pulse reputation interval(PRI).Therefore,if the training samples used to calculate the weight vector does not contain the jamming,then the jamming cannot be removed by adaptive spatial *** the weight vector is constantly updated in the range dimension,the training data may contain target echo signals,resulting in signal cancellation *** cope with the situation that the training samples are contaminated by target signal,an iterative training sample selection method based on non-homogeneous detector(NHD)is proposed in this paper for updating the weight vector in entire range *** principle is presented,and the validity is proven by simulation results.

Feline calicivirus(FCV)was a highly prevalent RNA virus causing upper respiratory tract infections in cats through the mouth and nose around the world,result in the death of cats especially under 1 year old with upper respiratory tract disease(URTD)and virulent systemic disease(FCV-VSD)[1].Infected cats usually presented with mouth ulcers,salivation and ***,both recovered cats and asymptomatic carriers can still carry and spread the FCV virus for extended periods of time,contributing to the potential for *** presented a significant threat to the health and lives of cats,and rare wildlife and took a heavy financial loss on the pet industry,making the prevention and control of the virus ***,rapid identification of FCV in clinical samples was necessary to prevent the spread of FCV and avoid financial loss.

Recent advances in Pt catalysts and membrane electrode assemblies fabrication for proton exchange membrane fuel cells

Proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs) have been identified as a highly promising means of achieving sustainable energy conversion. A crucial factor in enhancing the performance of PEMFCs for further potential energy applications is the advancement in the field of catalyst engineering that has led to remarkable performance enhancement in facilitating the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR). Subsequently, it is important to acknowledge that the techniques used in preparation of membrane electrode assemblies(MEAs), the vital constituents of PEMFCs, also possess direct and critical influence on exhibiting the full catalytic activity of meticulously crafted catalysts. Here, a succinct summary of the most recent advancements in Pt catalysts for ORR was offered and their underly catalytic mechanism were discussed. Then, both laboratory-scale and industrial-scale MEA fabrication techniques of Pt catalysts were summarized. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the connections between materials, process, and performance in MEA fabrication was presented in order to facilitate the development of optimal catalyst layers.
