Prussian Blue Analogue‑Templated Nanocomposites for Alkali‑Ion Batteries:Progress and Perspective

Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have dominated the portable electronic and electrochemical energy markets since their commercialisation,whose high cost and lithium scarcity have prompted the development of other alkali-ion batteries(AIBs)including sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)and potassium-ion batteries(PIBs).Owing to larger ion sizes of Na^(+)and K^(+)compared with Li^(+),nanocomposites with excellent crystallinity orientation and well-developed porosity show unprecedented potential for advanced lithium/sodium/potassium *** enticing open rigid framework structures,Prussian blue analogues(PBAs)remain promising self-sacrificial templates for the preparation of various nanocomposites,whose appeal originates from the well-retained porous structures and exceptional electrochemical activities after thermal *** review focuses on the recent progress of PBA-derived nanocomposites from their fabrication,lithium/sodium/potassium storage mechanism,and applications in AIBs(LIBs,SIBs,and PIBs).To distinguish various PBA derivatives,the working mechanism and applications of PBA-templated metal oxides,metal chalcogenides,metal phosphides,and other nanocomposites are systematically evaluated,facilitating the establishment of a structure–activity correlation for these *** on the fruitful achievements of PBA-derived nanocomposites,perspectives for their future development are envisioned,aiming to narrow down the gap between laboratory study and industrial reality.

Simulation,experimental evaluation and performance improvement of a cone dielectric elastomer actuator

Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) are an emerging class of polymer actuation devices and have extensive application prospect in the field of robotics because of their light weight, high efficiency and large deformation. A cone DEA is manufactured and its working principle is analyzed. To obtain the deformation of elastomer and movement of DEA in advance, a finite element method (FEM) simulation is performed first. According to the working principle, two working equilibrium points of DEA, corresponding to the displacements of DEA with voltage off and on, are obtained and validated by experiments, thus work output in a workcycle is computed. Experiments show that the actuator can respond quickly when voltage is applied and can return to its original position rapidly when voltage is released. Simulation results agree well with experimental ones and the feasibility of DEA simulation is proved, and causes for the small difference between them in displacement output are analyzed. The performance of the actuator is improved from the aspects of both displacement and force output. A diamond four-bar linkage mechanism is used as the preload part and a displacement output of 17 mm is obtained. The force output of one actuating unit is about 1.77 N, so three actuating units are assembled in parallel and the force output is heightened to as high as 5.07 N.

The burden of upper motor neuron involvement is correlated with the bilateral limb involvement interval in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis:a retrospective observational study

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a rare neurodegenerative disease characterized by the involvement of both upper and lower motor *** bilateral limb involvement significantly affects patients'daily lives and may lead them to be confined to ***,the effect of upper and lower motor neuron impairment and other risk factors on bilateral limb involvement is *** address this issue,we retrospectively collected data from 586 amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients with limb onset diagnosed at Peking University Third Hospital between January 2020 and May 2022.A univariate analysis revealed no significant differences in the time intervals of spread in different directions between individuals with upper motor neuron-dominant amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and those with classic amyotrophic lateral *** used causal directed acyclic graphs for risk factor determination and Cox proportional hazards models to investigate the association between the duration of bilateral limb involvement and clinical baseline characteristics in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis *** factor analyses revealed that higher upper motor neuron scores(hazard ratio[HR]=1.05,95%confidence interval[CI]=1.01–1.09,P=0.018),onset in the left limb(HR=0.72,95%CI=0.58–0.89,P=0.002),and a horizontal pattern of progression(HR=0.46,95%CI=0.37–0.58,P<0.001)were risk factors for a shorter interval until bilateral limb *** results demonstrated that a greater degree of upper motor neuron involvement might cause contralateral limb involvement to progress more quickly in limb-onset amyotrophic lateral sclerosis *** findings may improve the management of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients with limb onset and the prediction of patient prognosis.

Efficacy and safety of interferon alpha-2b versus pegylated interferon alpha-2a monotherapy in children with chronic hepatitis B:a real-life cohort study from Shanghai,China

Background Interferon alpha(IFN-α)is a preferred therapy for antiviral treatment of children with chronic hepatitis B(CHB)aged>1 year *** alpha-2a(Peg-IFNα-2a)is a recommended international guideline for treatment of CHB children,which is limited to children aged>3 *** the exact efficacy and safety of IFN-αand Peg-IFNα-2a for treating CHB are not *** Clinical manifestations,baseline characteristics,related laboratory tests and adverse events were retrospectively analyzed in children with CHB,who visited Children's Hospital of Fudan University and were treated with IFNα-2b or Peg-IFNα-2a monotherapy and followed up from January 2003 to October *** A total of 36 immune-active patients without advanced fibrosis were enrolled to be treated with IFNα-2b(group A,n=18)or Peg-IFNα-2a(group B,n=18).IFNα-2b or Peg-IFNα-2a was administered for a median of 48 weeks subcu-taneously by body surface area(BSA)category at a dose of 3 MU/m2 or 104μg/m2,*** e antigen(HBeAg)seroconversion rates at 48 weeks post-treatment were higher in group A than group B(92.9%vs.87.5%),so as the rates of HBsAg clearance(22.2%vs.11.1%),and hepatitis B virus(HBV)-DNA<1000 IU/mL(88.9%vs.83.3%).Only mild flu-like symptoms and transient neutropenia appeared in some children at the early stage of *** severe abnormal results was observed in other laboratory *** The antiviral monotherapy of 48-week IFNα-2b or Peg-IFNα-2a in children with CHB is well tolerated and effective,which is associated with higher rates of HBeAg seroconversion and HBsAg clearance than in adults and previ-ously pediatric patients.

Biodegradation of Phthalate Esters by a Newly Isolated Acinetobacter sp. Strain LMB-5 and Characteristics of Its Esterase

Phthalate esters （PAEs） are extensively applied in industry, and they migrate to environment during the process of production, employ, and treatment and axe difficult to be degraded in nature. However, some microorganisms could use them as the carbon source to growth. In this study, an Acinetobacter sp. strain LMB-5, capable of utilizing PAEs, was isolated from a vegetable greenhouse soil. The degradation capability of strain LMB-5 was also investigated by incubation in mineral salt medium containing different PAEs, dimethyl phthalate （DMP）, diethyl phthalate （DEP）, di-n-butyl phthalate （DBP）, and di-（2-ethylhexyl） phthalate （DEHP）. The strain could grow well with DMP, DEP, DBP, and DEHP. When the concentration of DBP increased from 100 to 400 mg L-1, the half-life extended from 9.5 to 15.5 h. In the concentration range of DBP, the degradation ability of strain LMB-5 could be described by first-order kinetics. During the biodegradation of DBP, three intermediates, 1,2-benzenedicaxboxylic acid,butyl methyl ester, DMP, and phthalic acid （PA） were detected, and the proposed pathway of DBP was identified. By analysis of bioinformatics, one esterase was cloned from the genome of LMB-5 and expressed in Escherichia coll. It displayed an ability to break the ester bonds of DBP. The enzyme exhibited maximal activity at pH 7.0 and 40 ℃ with DBP as the substrate. It was activated by Cu2＋ and Fe3＋ and had a high activity in the presence of low concentrations of methanol or dimethylsulfoxide （each 10%, volume：volume）. The Acinetobacter sp. strain LMB-5 may make a contribution to the remediation of soils polluted by PAEs in the future.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Pattern Classification and Herbal Medicine for COVID-19: A Comparative Study of Data from Different Sources

Background: Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) plays a crucial role in the prevention and control of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19). Objective: The study aimed to reveal the distribution characteristics of COVID-19 TCM syndrome types and syndrome elements and the law of TCM treatment and medication. Methods: The TCM diagnosis and treatment protocol for COVID-19 and clinical research data were obtained through network retrieval, and Revman 5.3 and SPSS 23.0 were employed to analyze the composition of TCM syndromes and the situation of TCMs in meta and frequency. Results: The top three TCM syndromes of COVID-19 included damp-heat accumulation in the lung pattern, damp abundance due to spleen deficiency, and epidemic toxin invading the lung pattern, while the syndrome elements were dampness, heat, and toxin. Gypsum fibrosum, Pogostemonis herba, and Armeniacae semen were identified as the commonly used drugs. Different syndrome elements were identified at lung disease location: Forsythiae fructus, Glycyrrhizae radix, and Armeniacae semen can be used for “wind;” Glycyrrhizae radix, Armeniacae semen, and Scutellariae radix can be used for “Heat;” Armeniacae semen, Sheng Gypsum fibrosum, and Ephedrae herba can be used for “Toxin;” Ephedrae herba, Armeniacae semen, and Atractylodis rhizome can be used for “Damp;” Magnoliae officinalis Cortex, Ephedrae herba, and Zingiberis Rhizoma recens can be used for “cold;” and Armeniacae semen, Gypsum fibrosum, Ephedrae herba, and Lepidii/Descurainiae semen can be used for “epidemic.” Conclusion: The establishment of a treatment scheme based on the classification of disease syndrome elements should be considered for sudden infectious diseases, such as COVID-19. Pogostemonis herba, Armeniacae semen, Gypsum fibrosum, and Glycyrrhizae radix should be considered as effective drugs from TCM for the treatment of COVID-19.

Fermi polarons in a driven-dissipative background medium

The study of the polaron of an open quantum system plays an important role in verifying the effectiveness of an approximate many-body theory and predicting novel quantum phenomena in open quantum systems. In a pioneering work, Piazza et al.(2021) proposed a Fermi-polaron scheme with a lossy impurity, which exhibits a novel long-lived attractive polaron branch in the quantum Zeno limit. However, we have encountered a counterpart problem in which an impurity interacting with an open quantum bath scatters exciting polarons, which is what we focus on. In this work, we determine through analytical research the molecular state under the two limits of vanishingly small and infinitely large dissipation intensities as well as the reason why the dissipation range leads to a decrease in the gap between the molecular state and the molecule-hole continuum in the former *** spectrum functions of molecular and polaron states with different dissipation ranges and loss rates are investigated. We find the spectral signals of molecular and polaron states will first diffuse and then revive as the dissipation increases. Moreover, we show that the attractive and repulsive polarons respond differently to an increasing dissipation range in our model. Finally, we exhibit the polaron energy, residue, effective mass, and two-body decay for mass-balanced and imbalanced systems. Our results might be useful for cold-atom experiments on open quantum systems.
