The relationship between the radio core dominance parameter and the spectral index in different classes of extragalactic radio sources

Active galactic nuclei （AGNs） have two major classes, namely radio loud AGNs and radio quiet AGNs. A small subset of the radio-loud AGNs is called blazars, which display extreme observational properties, such as rapid variability, high luminosity, high and variable polarization, and superluminal motion. All of those observational properties are probably due to a relativistic beaming effect with the jet pointing close to the line of sight. Observations suggest that the orientation can be expressed by a core-dominance parameter, R. The R, to some extent, is associated with the beaming effect. Blazars are believed to be unified with Fanaroff ＆ Riley type I/II （FRI/II） radio galaxies. In this work, we collected relevant observations from the literature for a sample of 1223 AGNs including 77 BL Lacertae objects, 495 quasars, 460 galaxies, 119 FRs and 72 unidentified sources, and calculated the core-dominance parameters and spectral indexes, discussed the relationship between the two parameters, and gave some discussions. Our analysis suggests that the core-dominance parameters in BL Lacertae objects are larger than those in quasars and galaxies, and the radio spectral indexes in BL Lacertae objects are lower than those in quasars and galaxies. We also found that the core-dominance parameter-spectral index correlation exists for a large sample presented in this work, which may come from a relativistic beaming effect.

The gamma-ray Doppler factor determinations for a Fermi blazar sample

Observations suggest that γ-ray loud blazars are strongly beamed. The Fermi mission has detected many of blazars, which provide us with a good opportunity to investigate the emission mechanism and the beaming effect in the γ-ray region. We compiled the X-ray observations for 138 Fermi blazars （54 flat spectrum radio quasars, 36 low-peaked BL Lacertae objects, and 48 high-peaked BL Lacertae objects） and calculated their Doppler factors, δγ. It is interesting that the calculated Doppler factors, δγ, are strongly correlated with the γ-ray luminosity.

Phase transition and mechanical properties of Ni_(30)Cu_(20)Mn_(37+x)Ga_(13-x)(x=0–4.5) alloys

Ni30Cu20Mn37＋xGa13-x（x = 0–4.5） alloys were studied with the phase transformation and mechanical properties. With the increase of Mn content, the martensitic transformation temperatures increase and the Curie temperature decreases. Simultaneously, the room temperature microstructure evolves from single phase of austenite to dual phases containing martensite and precipitation. Both the ductility and the strength of the polycrystalline alloys are significantly improved by the precipitation. Coupled magnetostructural transition from weak magnetic martensite to ferromagnetic austenite is obtained in both single-phase and ductile dual-phase alloys.

Flower-like NiCo_(2)S_(4)/NiFeP/NF composite material as an effective electrocatalyst with high overall water splitting performance

Rational design and building of high efficiency,secure and inexpensive electrocatalyst is a pressing demand and performance to promote sustainable improvement of hydrogen *** bifunctional electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and hydrogen evolution response(HER)with high catalytic performance and steadiness in the equal electrolyte are extra treasured and ***,a unique three-dimensional(3D)structure electrocatalyst for NiCo_(2)S_(4)growing on the flower-like NiFeP was designed and synthesized in this *** results show that the flower-like NiCo_(2)S_(4)/NiFeP/NF composite electrocatalyst has large specific surface area,appropriate electrical conductivity,and greater lively websites uncovered in the three-dimensional structure,and affords extraordinary electrocatalytic overall performance for the ordinary water *** alkaline solution,the OER and HER overpotentials of NiCo_(2)S_(4)/NiFeP/NF only need 293 mV and 205 mV overpotential to provide the current densities of 100 mA/cm^(2)and 50 mA/cm^(2),*** high electrocatalytic activity exceeds the catalytic activity of most nickel-iron based electrocatalysts for OER and HER ***,the optimized NiCo_(2)S_(4)/NiFeP/NF sample has higher stability(24 h)at 1.560 and 10 mA/cm^(2),which extensively speeds up the overall water splitting *** view of the above performance,this work offers a fine approach for the further improvement of low fee and excessive effectivity electrocatalyst.

The zona incerta(ZI)is involved in various functions and may serve as an integrative node of the circuits for global behavioral ***,the long-range connectivity of different sectors in the mouse ZI has not been comprehensively ***,we obtained whole-brain images of the input and output connections via fluorescence micro-optical sectioning tomography and viral *** principal regions in the input-output circuits of ZI GABAergic neurons were topologically *** 3D distribution of cortical inputs showed rostro-caudal correspondence with different ZI sectors,while the projection fibers from ZI sectors were longitudinally organized in the superior *** results show that the medial and lateral ZI are two different major functional compartments,and they can be further divided into more subdomains based on projection and input *** study provides a comprehensive anatomical foundation for understanding how the ZI is involved in integrating different information,conveying motivational states,and modulating global behaviors.

W-doped FeNi_(2)S_(4)/Ni_(3)S_(2)/NF with interfacial effect as efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting

Given the current shortage of resources and environmental pollution,rationally designing and developing low-cost and highefficiency bifunctional electrocatalysts is an urgent and challenging *** is widely recognized that element doping can effectively improve the electrocatalytic activity by adjusting the microstructure,morphology,and electronic ***,this work rationally designs and prepares three-dimensional flower-like structured W-doped FeNi_(2)S_(4)/Ni_(3)S_(2)/NF heterojunctions as efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water *** 1 M KOH,the prepared W-FeNi_(2)S_(4)/Ni_(3)S_(2)/NF electrocatalyst can effectively drive both hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)processes,and only needs overpotentials of 93 and 210 mV to reach current densities of 10 and 50 mA·cm^(−2).In the double electrode cell composed by WFeNi_(2)S_(4)/Ni_(3)S_(2)/NF electrocatalyst,a low cell voltage of 1.52 V was required to reach a current density of 10 mA·cm^(−2),and 91.6%of this value was preserved after 24 h electrolysis *** performance of FeNi_(2)S_(4)/Ni_(3)S_(2)/NF electrocatalyst is superior to most of the current bifunctional electrocatalytic *** functional theory(DFT)theoretical calculations also revealed a more intense electron transfer process that can be facilitated by constructing FeNi_(2)S_(4)and Ni_(3)S_(2)/NF interface,which may be the main reason for the archived excellent electrochemical performance.

Stochastic Resonance for a SQUID with Dichotomous Resistance

We investigate the response to the ac current for a superconducting quantum interference device （SQUID） with a dichotomous resistance. It is shown that, for some suitably selected parameters＇ values, stochastic resonance appears for the amplitude of the stationary average voltage of the SQUID versus the correlation time of the dichotomous noise. Our result can provide some useful insights for the investigation of the response of the SQUID （especially for the ones with the nano junctions） to the temporal-periodic signal （including the input ac current, the irradiation microwave, the detected temporal-periodic signal, and the added ac voltage）.
