AIM To compare the capacity of newly developed epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)-targeted immune magnetic liposomes(EILs) vs epithelial cell adhesion molecule(Ep CAM) immunomagnetic beads to capture colorectal circulating tumor cells(CTCs).METHODS EILs were prepared using a two-step method, and the magnetic and surface characteristics were confirmed. The efficiency of capturing colorectal CTCs as well as the specificity were compared between EILs and Ep CAM magnetic beads. RESULTS The obtained EILs had a lipid nanoparticle structure similar to cell membrane. Improved binding with cancer cells was seen in EILs compared with the method of coupling nano/microspheres with antibody. The binding increased as the contact time extended. Compared with Ep CAM immunomagnetic beads, EILs captured more CTCs in peripheral blood from colorectal cancer patients. The captured cells showed consistency with clinical diagnosis and pathology. Mutation analysis showed same results between captured CTCs and cancer tissues. CONCLUSION EGFR antibody-coated magnetic liposomes show high efficiency and specificity in capturing colorectal CTCs.

To better understand the migration behavior of plastic fragments in the environment,development of rapid non-destructive methods for in-situ identification and characterization of plastic fragments is ***,most of the studies had focused only on colored plastic fragments,ignoring colorless plastic fragments and the effects of different environmental media(backgrounds),thus underestimating their *** address this issue,the present study used near-infrared spectroscopy to compare the identification of colored and colorless plastic fragments based on partial least squares-discriminant analysis(PLS-DA),extreme gradient boost,support vector machine and random forest *** effects of polymer color,type,thickness,and background on the plastic fragments classification were ***-DA presented the best and most stable outcome,with higher robustness and lower misclassification *** models frequently misinterpreted colorless plastic fragments and its background when the fragment thickness was less than 0.1mm.A two-stage modeling method,which first distinguishes the plastic types and then identifies colorless plastic fragments that had been misclassified as background,was *** method presented an accuracy higher than 99%in different *** summary,this study developed a novel method for rapid and synchronous identification of colored and colorless plastic fragments under complex environmental backgrounds.

Ozone (O3) poses a significant global public health concern as it exerts adverse effects on human cardiovascular health. Nevertheless, there remains a lack of comprehensive understanding regarding the relationships between O3 exposure and the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), as well as the underlying biological mechanisms. To address this knowledge gap, this narrative review meticulously summarizes the existing epidemiological evidence, susceptibility, and potential underlying biological mechanisms linking O3 exposure with CVD. An increasing body of epidemiological studies has demonstrated that O3 exposure heightens the incidence and mortality of CVD, including specific subtypes such as ischemic heart disease, hypertension, and heart failure. Certain populations display heightened vulnerability to these effects, particularly children, the elderly, obese individuals, and those with pre-existing conditions. Proposed biological mechanisms suggest that O3 exposure engenders respiratory and systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, disruption of autonomic nervous and neuroendocrine systems, as well as impairment of coagulation function, glucose, and lipid metabolism. Ultimately, these processes contribute to vascular dysfunction and the development of CVD. However, some studies have reported the absence of associations between O3 and CVD, or even potentially protective effects of O3. Inconsistencies among the literature may be attributed to inaccurate assessment of personal O3 exposure levels in epidemiologic studies, as well as confounding effects stemming from co-pollutants and temperature. Consequently, our findings underscore the imperative for further research, including the development of reliable methodologies for assessing personal O3 exposure, exploration of O3 exposure's impact on cardiovascular health, and elucidation of its biological mechanisms.

All-season thermal management with zero energy consumption and emissions is more crucial to global decarbonization over traditional energy-intensive cooling/heating ***,the static single thermal management for cooling or heating fails to self-regulate the temperature in dynamic seasonal temperature ***,inspired by the dual-temperature regulation function of the fur color changes on the backs and abdomens of penguins,a smart thermal management composite hydrogel(PNA@H-PM Gel) system was subtly created though an "on-demand" dual-layer structure design *** PNA@H-PM Gel system features synchronous solar and thermal radiation modulation as well as tunable phase transition temperatures to meet the variable seasonal thermal requirements and energy-saving demands via self-adaptive radiative cooling and solar heating ***,this system demonstrates superb modulations of both the solar reflectance(ΔR=0.74) and thermal emissivity(ΔE=0.52) in response to ambient temperature changes,highlighting efficient temperature regulation with average radiative cooling and solar heating effects of 9.6℃ in summer and 6.1℃ in winter,***,compared to standard building baselines,the PNA@H-PM Gel presents a more substantial energy-saving cooling/heating potentials for energy-efficient buildings across various regions and *** novel solution,inspired by penguins in the real world,will offer a fresh approach for producing intelligent,energy-saving thermal management materials,and serve for temperature regulation under dynamic climate conditions and even throughout all seasons.

Research on the ecohydrological processes of terrestrial plants is a frontier field comprising ecology,hydrology and global change research,yielding the key theoretical foundations of *** karst areas,due to its unique geological background,the karst landscape is strongly developed,with high bedrock exposure,high permeability,fragmented soils,shallow soils,and high spatial heterogeneity,resulting in very limited water storage for plant uptake and growth in rock fissures and shallow ***,water conditions are an important ecological factor influencing plant *** comprehensively understand the current progress and development trends in plant water use research focusing on karst areas,this paper uses the VOSviewer software to analyze the literature on plant water use in karst areas between 1984 and *** results showed that:(1)Research on plant water use in karst areas has developed rapidly worldwide,and the number of relevant studies in the literature have increased year by year,which together means that it is attracting more and more attention.(2)The investigation of plant water sources,geological background of karst areas,seasonal arid tropical climates,the relationship betweenδ13C values and plant water use efficiency,karst plant water use in karst savannas and subtropical areas,and ecosystems under climate change yields the knowledge base in this field.(3)Most studies in this area focus on the division of water sources of plants in karst areas,the methods of studying the water use sources of plants,and the water use strategies and efficiency of plants.(4)Future research will focus on how plant water use in karst areas is influenced by Earth’s critical zones,climate change,and ecohydrological *** studies will provide a key scientific basis for guiding ecological restoration and promoting sustainable development in karst areas.

A coordination polymer{[Cd(H_(2)dpa)(bpy)]·3H_(2)O}_(n)(Cd-CP)was designed and hydrothermal synthesized based on 4-(2,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)phthalic acid(H_(4)dpa),2,2'-bipyridine(bpy)and Cd(NO_(3))_(2)·4H_(2)*** structure was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction,powder X-ray diffraction,elemental analysis,and infrared ***-CP belongs to the monoclinic crystal system with the P2_1/c space group and performs in a 1D double-chain *** adjacent double chains further form a 3D supramolecular network structure through hydrogen *** analysis shows that Cd-CP has good thermal *** analysis showed that Cd-CP had good choosing selectively and was sensitive to metal ions(Fe^(3+)and Zn^(2+)),2,4,6-trinitrophenylhydrazine(TRI),and pyrimethanil(Pth).Interestingly,when Cd-CP was used for fluorescence detection of metal ions,it was found to have a fluorescence quenching effect on Fe^(3+)but had an obvious enhancement effect on Zn^(2+).Therefore,we designed an“on-off-on”logic *** addition,the mechanism of fluorescence sensing has been deeply ***:2258625.
