Development of CONTHAC-3D and hydrogen distribution analysis of HPR1000

An in-house code,CONTHAC-3D,was developed to calculate and analyze thermal-hydraulic phenomena in containments during severe ***-3D is a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics code that can be applied to predict gas flow,diffusion,and steam condensation in a containment during a severe hypothetical accident,as well as to obtain an estimate of the local hydrogen concentration in various zones of the ***-3D was developed using multiple models to simulate the features of the proprietary systems and equipment of HPR1000 and ACP100,such as the passive cooling system,passive autocatalytic recombiners and the passive air cooling *** validate CONTHAC-3D,a GX6 test was performed at the Battelle Model Containment *** hydrogen concentration and temperature monitored by the GX6 test are accurately predicted by ***,the hydrogen distribution in the HPR1000 containment during a severe accident was *** results show that the hydrogen removal rates calculated using CONTHAC-3D for different types of PARs agree well with the theoretical values,with an error of less than 1%.As the accident progresses,the hydrogen concentration in the lower compartment becomes higher than that in the large space,which implies that the lower compartment has a higher hydrogen risk than the dome and large space at a later stage of the *** amount of hydrogen removed by the PARs placed on the floor of the compartment is small;therefore,raising the installation height of these recombiners appropriately is ***,we do not recommend installing all autocatalytic recombiners at high *** study findings in regard to the hydrogen distribution in the HPR1000 containment indicate that CONTHAC-3D can be applied to the study of hydrogen risk containment.

Ni-Cu bimetallic alloy anchored on nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes for CO_(2)-to-CH_(4) electrochemical conversion

Electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction to CH_(4) remains challenging due to multi-electron transfer and intermediates ***,we synthesized electrocatalysts by growing Ni-Cu alloy structure on nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(NixCuy-NCNT)for electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)via hydrothermal method followed by *** optimized Ni_(1)Cu_(1)-NCNT demonstrated a superior CO_(2)RR performance,achieving 99.7%FECH_(4)(FE=Faradaic efficiency)and 11.54 mA·cm^(−2) current density at−1.2 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE),which outperformed single metal *** outstanding performance was due to the electrons transferred from Cu to Ni and Ni-Cu alloy shifted the d-band center toward the Fermi level,which was more conducive to the intermediate *** situ electrochemical attenuated total reflection(EC-ATR)and density functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed the appearance of *CHO intermediate and the pathway during the CO_(2)RR *** design of the bimetallic electrocatalyst in this study provides a new perspective for the highly selective reduction of CO_(2).

The lungs were long thought to be sterile until technical advances uncovered the presence of the lung microbial *** microbiome of healthy lungs is mainly derived from the upper respiratory tract(URT)microbiome but also has its own characteristic *** selection mechanisms in the lung,including clearance by coughing,pulmonary macrophages,the oscillation of respiratory cilia,and bacterial inhibition by alveolar surfactant,keep the microbiome transient and mobile,which is different from the microbiome in other *** pulmonary bacteriome has been intensively studied recently,but relatively little research has focused on the mycobiome and *** up-to-date review retrospectively summarizes the lung microbiome’s history,composition,and *** focus on the interaction of the lung microbiome with the oropharynx and gut microbiome and emphasize the role it plays in the innate and adaptive immune *** importantly,we focus on multiple respiratory diseases,including asthma,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),fibrosis,bronchiectasis,and *** impact of the lung microbiome on coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and lung cancer has also been comprehensively ***,by summarizing the therapeutic potential of the lung microbiome in lung diseases and examining the shortcomings of the field,we propose an outlook of the direction of lung microbiome research.

Design optimization of a hexapod vibration isolation system for electro-optical payload

The electro-optical payloads on mobile platforms generally suffer undesirable vibrations generated by maneuvers and *** vibrations are in six degrees of freedom and cause line-of-sight jitters,resulting in image blurring and loss of tracking *** this paper,a Hexapod Vibration Isolation System(HVIS)is proposed and optimized to solve this *** optimization aims to centralize and minimize the natural frequencies of HVIS,for expanding the vibration isolation bandwidth and improving the vibration isolation in the higher frequency *** that the design space for HVIS is limited and interfered with the frames of the mobile platform,a non-collision algorithm is proposed and applied in the optimization to obtain the feasible optimal *** optimization result shows that the natural frequency bandwidth has been reduced by 42.9%,and the maximum natural frequency is reduced by 30.2%.The prototypes of initial and optimal designs are manufactured and *** simulated and experimental results demonstrate the validity of the optimization,and the optimal design provides a maximum of 15 dB more isolation in rotation direction than the initial design.

The brown planthopper(BPH,Nilaparvata lugens)is a notorious sap-sucking insect pest that damages rice(Oryza sativa)plants throughout *** BPH feeding,saliva enters rice plant tissues,whereas during oviposition egg-associated secretions(EAS)are deposited in damaged plant *** changes in rice to planthopper salivary effectors have been widely ***,the effects of EAS from planthopper on rice immunity remains largely *** this study,we found that both infestation of rice by gravid BPH female adults and treatment with the EAS elicited a strong and rapid accumulation of jasmonic acid(JA),JA-isoleucine,and hydrogen peroxide in *** enhanced plant defenses not only in rice but also in tobacco,and these impaired the performance of BPH on rice,as well as the performance of aphids and whiteflies on ***-throughput proteome sequencing of EAS led to 110 proteins being identified and 53 proteins with 2 or more unique peptides being *** proteins from BPH EAS were also found in the salivary proteome from herbivores,suggesting potential evolutionary conservation of effector functions across feeding and oviposition;however,others were only identified in EAS,and these are likely specifically related to *** findings point to novel proteins affecting interactions between planthoppers and rice during oviposition,providing an additional source of information for effector studies.

Magnesium(Mg)alloy is considered as a promising biodegradable implant material but restricted to rapid ***,the new strategies based on thixomolding process had been explored to utilize the outstanding anti-permeability of graphene nanosheets(GNPs)while inhibit its galvanic corrosion with the matrix,so as to improve the corrosion resistance of *** agglomerate of GNPs with 0.9 wt%content is the main reason for the deterioration of corrosion performance due to the formation of micro-galvanic *** grain refinement of composites with 0.6 wt%content had positive effects on the better corrosion *** process adjusting,the unique distributions of GNPs along grain boundaries play a vital role in improving the corrosion *** can be ascribed to the following mechanisms:(I)The barriers can be established between the Mg matrix and corrosive medium,hence blocking the charge transfer at the interface;(II)The GNPs can effectively promote apatite deposition on the Mg matrix,leading to form dense apatite layers and prevent the further invasion of SBF;(III)The GNPs acting as reinforcements exists in the corrosion layer and apatite layer,impede the apatite layer falling off from the Mg *** findings broaden the horizon for biomedical applications in Mg matrix composites to realize desired performances.

It remains full of challenge for extending short-wave infrared(SWIR)spectral response and weak-light detection in the context of broad spectral responses for *** this work,a novel poly(2,5-bis(4-hexyldodecyl)-2,5-dihydro-3,6-di-2-thienyl-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione-alt-thiophene)(PDPPT3-HDO):COTIC-4F organic bulk-heterojunction is prepared as active layer for bulk heterojunction ***3-HDO serves as a hole transport material,while COTIC-4F enhances the absorption of SWIR light to 1020 *** a result,smooth and connected PDPPT3-HDO film is fabricated by blade coating method and exhibits high hole mobility up to 2.34 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1) with a current on/off ratio of 4.72×10^(5) in organic thin film ***3-HDO:COTIC-4F heterojunction phototransistors exhibit high responsivity of 2680 A·W^(-1) to 900 nm and 815 A·W^(-1) to 1020 nm,with fast response time(rise time~20 ms and fall time~100 ms).The photosensitivity of the heterojunction phototransistor improves as the mass ratio of non-fullerene acceptors increases,resulting in an approximately two orders of magnitude enhancement compared to the bare polymer ***,the phototransistor exhibits decent responsivity even under ultra-weak light power of 43μW·cm^(-2) to 1020 *** work represents a highly effective and general strategy for fabricating efficient and sensitive SWIR light photodetectors.

BACKGROUND The intricate relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and diabetic nephropathy(DN)presents a challenge in understanding the significance of various biomarkers in *** To elucidate the roles and diagnostic values ofα2-macroglobulin(α2-MG),podocalyxin(PCX),α-L-fucosidase(AFU),retinol-binding protein-4(RBP-4),and cystatin C(CysC)in *** From December 2018 to December 2020,203 T2DM patients were enrolled in the *** these,115 were diagnosed with DN(115 patients),while the remaining 88 patients were classified as *** urinary levels ofα2-MG,PCX,and AFU and the serum concentrations RBP-4 and CysC were measured in conjunction with other relevant clinical indicators to evaluate their potential correlations and diagnostic *** After adjustments for age and gender,significant positive correlations were observed between the biomarkers CysC,RBP-4,α2-MG/urinary creatinine(UCr),PCX/UCr,and AFU/UCr,and clinical indicators such as urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio(UACR),serum creatinine,urea,24-h total urine protein,and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR).Conversely,these biomarkers exhibited negative correlations with the estimated glomerular filtration rate(P<0.05).Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis further demonstrated the diagnostic performance of these biomarkers,with UACR showcasing the highest area under the ROC curve(AUC^(ROC))at *** This study underscores the diagnostic significance ofα2-MG,PCX,and AFU in the development of *** biomarkers RBP-4,CysC,PCX,AFU,andα2-MG provide promising diagnostic insights,while UACR is the most potent diagnostic biomarker in assessing DN.

Oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the imperative reaction for many energy storage and conversion devices such as recharge-able metal-air batteries and electrochemical water splitting[1].OER is a complex 4-electron process with sluggish kinetics and therefore requires electrocatalysts to overcome the high *** oxide(RuO_(2))and iridium oxide(IrO_(2))catalysts can promote the OER process remarkably[2-4],however,their ex-tremely high cost,natural scarcity,and long-term instability con-strain their scale-up application in clean-energy technologies[5,6].It is crucial to develop inexpensive,highly efficient,and durable electrocatalysts for OER.
