Postnatal calpeptin treatment causes hippocampal neurodevelopmental defects in neonatal rats

Our previous studies showed that the early use of calpain inhibitors reduces calpain activity in multiple brain regions, and that postnatal treatment with calpeptin may lead to cerebellar motor dysfunction. However, it remains unclear whether postnatal calpeptin application affects hippocampus-related behaviors. In this study, Sprague-Dawley rats were purchased from the Animal Center of Anhui Medical University of China. For the experiments in the adult stage, rats were intraperitoneally injected with calpeptin, 2 mg/kg, once a day, on postnatal days 7–14. Then on postnatal day 60, the Morris water maze test was used to evaluate spatial learning and memory abilities. The open field test was carried out to assess anxiety-like activities. Phalloidin staining was performed to observe synaptic morphology in the hippocampus. Immunohistochemistry was used to count the number of NeuN-positive cells in the hippocampal CA1 region. DiI was applied to label dendritic spines. Calpeptin administration impaired spatial memory, caused anxiety-like behavior in adulthood, reduced the number and area of apical dendritic spines, and decreased actin polymerization in the hippocampus, but did not affect the number of NeuN-positive cells in the hippocampal CA1 region. For the neonatal experiments, neonatal rats were intraperitoneally injected with calpeptin, 2 mg/kg, on postnatal days 7 and 8. Western blot assay was performed to analyze the protein levels of Akt, Erk, p-Akt, p-Erk1/2, Erk1/2, SCOP, PTEN, mTOR, p-mTOR, CREB and p-CREB in the hippocampus. SCOP expression was increased, and the phosphorylation levels of Akt, mTOR and CREB were reduced in the hippocampus. These findings show that calpeptin administration after birth affects synaptic development in neonatal rats by inhibiting the Akt/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby perturbing hippocampal function. Therefore, calpeptin administration after birth is a risk factor for neurodevelopmental defects.

Multiferroic bi-layer Fe/BaTiO3 （BTO） thin films were successfully deposited on Pt（200）/MgO（100） substrates using ion beam sputter deposition （1BSD）, and the mutiferroic properties were studied at room temperature. X-ray diffraction （XRD） analyses showed that BTO films were c-axis oriented and epitaxially grown on platinum coated MgO substrates, and （110） epitaxial Fe films were subsequently grown on （001） BTO films. Fe/BTO bi-layer films showed good ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties at room temperature and the multiferroic coupling was observed, which should be attributed to the hybridization of Fe and Ti occurring at the ferromagnetic-ferroelectric interface.

The Kulun region is located in the eastern Bainaimiao arc belt on the southeastern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB),adjacent to the North China Craton(NCC)to the *** region records the closure of the PaleoAsian Ocean during the Paleozoic to early Mesozoic and is key to study the tectonic evolution of the northern margin of the *** conducted zircon U-Pb geochronology and Hf isotope analysis of volcanic-sedimentary and intrusive rocks in the Kulun *** volcanic-sedimentary rocks were previously assigned an early Carboniferous age,but include volcanic rocks with ages of 267–266 Ma and sedimentary rocks with youngest detrital zircon age peaks of 265–244 Ma,which were intruded by a granite with an age of 242 *** indicates that these rocks are actually middle Permian to Middle Triassic in age(267–242Ma)and correspond to the Qingfengshan and Liujiagou ***,two volcanic rock samples have highεHf(t)values(+1.6 to+16.1)and relatively young two-stage Hf model ages(1095–327 Ma),indicating their sources associated with the *** age spectra and Hf isotopic characteristics of detrital zircons from the sedimentary rocks suggest that,during the middle Permian to Middle Triassic,the sedimentary provenance in the Kulun region was mainly the ***,by the Early Jurassic,the provenance changed to the NCC(i.e.,the Inner Mongolia Paleo-uplift,IMPU).This result,combined with the development of a series of conglomerates on the northern margin of the NCC in the Late Triassic(i.e.,Xingshikou,Xiaoyingzi,and Xiaohekou formations),indicates the Kulun region experienced an abrupt change in paleogeography during the Late Triassic,with the IMPU undergoing significant uplift and thus becoming the main sediment source in the Kulun *** on the Late Triassic alkaline igneous belt(235–215 Ma)in the IMPU,we speculate that this uplift was caused by detachment of the southward-subducting Paleo-Asian oceanic plate,which occurred in a post-o

为了调查混凝土在双轴拉-压交变荷载作用下的疲劳性能和累积损伤规律,利用改造的MTS疲劳试验机对变截面棱柱体混凝土试件进行了定侧压下轴心拉-压单级等幅和多级高-低、低-高变幅疲劳试验.总结了实测等幅与变幅疲劳应变与变形模量的衰减规律,基于疲劳变形模量定义了损伤变量,拟合试验结果得到了两阶段的损伤演化方程,依据损伤演变与损伤状态、加载条件间的相关性,建立了相应的疲劳累积损伤模型,并给出了利用本文模型进行疲劳损伤分析和剩余寿命预测的方法.模型预测的剩余寿命与实际试验结果的对比验证了模型的精度与有效性.

为研究中下承式拱桥在公路车辆作用下的吊杆冲击系数不均匀性问题,提出基于车桥耦合振动的公路桥梁动力响应分析方法。首先,将车辆简化为4个自由度的整车模型,根据D'Alembert原理推导了车辆振动方程,将桥梁离散为有限元模型,根据车辆与桥梁接触点处位移与力的协调条件耦合二者的振动方程;然后,采用Newmark-β算法,基于MATLAB语言编制了公路桥梁车桥耦合振动计算程序VBAP;最后,以某钢管混凝土拱桥为例,利用该方法与程序分析结构阻尼、桥上路面粗糙度、车重及车速对吊杆应力冲击系数的影响。

Domain generalization with semi-supervised learning for people-centric activity recognition

People-centric activity recognition is one of the most critical technologies in a wide range of real-world applications,including intelligent transportation systems, healthcare services, and brain-computer interfaces. Large-scale data collection and annotation make the application of machine learning algorithms prohibitively expensive when adapting to new tasks. One way of circumventing this limitation is to train the model in a semi-supervised learning manner that utilizes a percentage of unlabeled data to reduce the labeling burden in prediction tasks. Despite their appeal, these models often assume that labeled and unlabeled data come from similar distributions, which leads to the domain shift problem caused by the presence of distribution gaps. To address these limitations, we propose herein a novel method for people-centric activity recognition,called domain generalization with semi-supervised learning(DGSSL), that effectively enhances the representation learning and domain alignment capabilities of a model. We first design a new autoregressive discriminator for adversarial training between unlabeled and labeled source domains, extracting domain-specific features to reduce the distribution gaps. Second, we introduce two reconstruction tasks to capture the task-specific features to avoid losing information related to representation learning while maintaining task-specific consistency. Finally, benefiting from the collaborative optimization of these two tasks, the model can accurately predict both the domain and category labels of the source domains for the classification task. We conduct extensive experiments on three real-world sensing datasets. The experimental results show that DGSSL surpasses the three state-of-the-art methods with better performance and generalization.

The dominant annual cycle of sea surface temperature(SST)in the tropical Pacific exhibits an antisymmetric mode,which explains 83.4%total variance,and serves as a background of El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO).However,there is no consensus yet on its anomalous impacts on the phase and amplitude of *** on data during 1982-2022,results show that anomalies of the antisymmetric mode can affect the evolution of ENSO on the interannual scale via Bjerknes feedback,in which the positive(negative)phase of the antisymmetric mode can strengthen El Niño(La Niña)in boreal winter via an earlier(delayed)seasonal cycle transition and larger(smaller)annual *** magnitude of the SST anomalies in the equatorial eastern Pacific can reach more than±0.3◦C,regulated by the changes in the antisymmetric mode based on random sensitivity *** reveal the spatial pattern of the annual cycle associated with the seasonal phase-locking of ENSO evolution and provide new insight into the impact of the annual cycle of background SST on ENSO,which possibly carries important implications for forecasting ENSO.
