Regulatory T cells （Tregs） are a specialized subpopulation of T cells that control the immune response and thereby maintain immune system homeostasis and tolerance to self-antigens. Many subsets of CD4＋ Tregs have been identified, including Foxp3~, Trl, Th3, and Foxp3neg iT（R）35 cells. In this study, we identified a new subset of CD4＋VEGFR1high Tregs that have immunosuppressive capacity. CD4＋VEGFRlhigh T cells, which constitute approximately 1.0% of CD4＋ T cells, are hyporesponsive to T-cell antigen receptor stimulation. Surface marker and FoxP3 expression analysis revealed that CD4＋VEGFR1high T cells are distinct from known Tregs. CD4＋VEGFR1high T cells suppressed the proliferation of CD4＋CD25- T cell as efficiently as CD4＋CD25high natural Tregs in a contact-independent manner. Furthermore, adoptive transfer of CD4＋VEGFR1＋ T cells from wild type to RAG-2-deficient C57BL/6 mice inhibited effector T-cell-mediated inflammatory bowel disease. Thus, we report CD4＋ VEGFR1high T cells as a novel subset of Tregs that regulate the inflammatory response in the intestinal tract.

High mobility group box 1 in the central nervous system:regeneration hidden beneath inflammation

High-mobility group box 1 was first discovered in the calf thymus as a DNA-binding nuclear protein and has been widely studied in diverse fields,including neurology and ***-mobility group box 1 in the extracellular space functions as a pro-inflammatory damage-associated molecular pattern,which has been proven to play an important role in a wide variety of central nervous system disorders such as ischemic stroke,Alzheimer’s disease,frontotemporal dementia,Parkinson’s disease,multiple sclerosis,epilepsy,and traumatic brain *** drugs that inhibit high-mobility group box 1 as a damage-associated molecular pattern,such as glycyrrhizin,ethyl pyruvate,and neutralizing anti-high-mobility group box 1 antibodies,are commonly used to target high-mobility group box 1 activity in central nervous system *** it is commonly known for its detrimental inflammatory effect,high-mobility group box 1 has also been shown to have beneficial pro-regenerative roles in central nervous system *** this narrative review,we provide a brief summary of the history of high-mobility group box 1 research and its characterization as a damage-associated molecular pattern,its downstream receptors,and intracellular signaling pathways,how high-mobility group box 1 exerts the repair-favoring roles in general and in the central nervous system,and clues on how to differentiate the pro-regenerative from the pro-inflammatory *** targeting high-mobility group box 1 in the central nervous system may benefit from differentiating between the two functions rather than overall suppression of high-mobility group box 1.

Mapping Contaminants Associated with Autism: A Public Health Pilot in New Jersey

The rise in reported prevalence rates of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) is a national concern that continues to grow at a record pace. New Jersey has the highest prevalence rate of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) among states surveyed, with approximately 1 in 45 children diagnosed. The pilot study focused on toxins potentially linked to autism: arsenic, lead, manganese, mercury, organophosphate pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls, trichloroethylene, and vinyl chloride. In northern NJ there were approximately 4600 Known Contaminated Sites (KCSNJ) where these toxins were detected. A total of 269,790 sample detections were identified. Our objective was to identify and map these sites, and identify methods by which more robust contaminant data could be collected and analyzed. This study resulted in eight original maps showing sample detections. These maps will aid researchers and public health advocates in future analyses exploring links between autism and these toxins. Concentrations of multiple toxins associated with ASDs were most dense near urban industrial or mixed residential/industrial areas, though no conclusions can be made regarding association or causality between the sample detections and autism. Based in part on this study, NJDEP has made and will continue to make improvements to contaminant data collection systems.

Late Paleozoic to early Mesozoic volcanic-sedimentary history of the southeastern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt: Timing of uplift of the Inner Mongolia paleo-uplift

The Kulun region is located in the eastern Bainaimiao arc belt on the southeastern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB), adjacent to the North China Craton(NCC) to the south. This region records the closure of the PaleoAsian Ocean during the Paleozoic to early Mesozoic and is key to study the tectonic evolution of the northern margin of the *** conducted zircon U-Pb geochronology and Hf isotope analysis of volcanic-sedimentary and intrusive rocks in the Kulun region. The volcanic-sedimentary rocks were previously assigned an early Carboniferous age, but include volcanic rocks with ages of 267–266 Ma and sedimentary rocks with youngest detrital zircon age peaks of 265–244 Ma, which were intruded by a granite with an age of 242 Ma. This indicates that these rocks are actually middle Permian to Middle Triassic in age(267–242Ma) and correspond to the Qingfengshan and Liujiagou formations. Moreover, two volcanic rock samples have high εHf(t) values(+1.6 to +16.1) and relatively young two-stage Hf model ages(1095–327 Ma), indicating their sources associated with the CAOB. The age spectra and Hf isotopic characteristics of detrital zircons from the sedimentary rocks suggest that, during the middle Permian to Middle Triassic, the sedimentary provenance in the Kulun region was mainly the CAOB. However, by the Early Jurassic, the provenance changed to the NCC(i.e., the Inner Mongolia Paleo-uplift, IMPU). This result, combined with the development of a series of conglomerates on the northern margin of the NCC in the Late Triassic(i.e., Xingshikou, Xiaoyingzi,and Xiaohekou formations), indicates the Kulun region experienced an abrupt change in paleogeography during the Late Triassic, with the IMPU undergoing significant uplift and thus becoming the main sediment source in the Kulun region. Based on the Late Triassic alkaline igneous belt(235–215 Ma) in the IMPU, we speculate that this uplift was caused by detachment of the southward-subducting Paleo-Asian oceanic

Properties of multilayer gallium and aluminum doped ZnO(GZO/AZO) transparent thin films deposited by pulsed laser deposition process

Multilayer gallium and aluminum doped ZnO （GZO/AZO） films were fabricated by alternative deposition of Ga-doped zinc oxide（GZO） and Al-doped zinc oxide（AZO） thin film by using pulsed laser deposition（PLD） process. The electrical and optical properties of these GZO/AZO thin films were investigated and compared with those of GZO and AZO thin films. The GZO/AZO （1：1） thin film deposited at 400 ~C shows the electrical resistivity of 4.18 x 10 4 ~.cm, an electron concentration of 7.5 x 1020/cm3, and carrier mobility of 25.4 cm2/（V.s）. The optical transmittances of GZO/AZO thin films are over 85%. The optical band gap energy of GZO/AZO thin films linearly decreases with increasing the AI ratio.

Facial Expression Recognition of Various Internal States via Manifold Learning

Emotions are becoming increasingly important in human-centered interaction architectures. Recognition of facial expressions, which are central to human-computer interactions, seems natural and desirable. However, facial expressions include mixed emotions, continuous rather than discrete, which vary from moment to moment. This paper represents a novel method of recognizing facial expressions of various internal states via manifold learning, to achieve the aim of humancentered interaction studies. A critical review of widely used emotion models is described, then, facial expression features of various internal states via the locally linear embedding （LLE） are extracted. The recognition of facial expressions is created with the pleasure-displeasure and arousal-sleep dimensions in a two-dimensional model of emotion. The recognition result of various internal state expressions that mapped to the embedding space via the LLE algorithm can effectively represent the structural nature of the two-dimensional model of emotion. Therefore our research has established that the relationship between facial expressions of various internal states can be elaborated in the two-dimensional model of emotion, via the locally linear embedding algorithm.

Nusinersen for spinal muscular atrophy types Ⅱ and Ⅲ:a retrospective single-center study in South Korea

Background This study investigated the efficacy and safety of nusinersen,an antisense oligonucleotide,in patients with spinal muscular atrophy(SMA)types II(OMIM:253,550)or III(OMIM:253,400),including those with severe scoliosis or requiring respiratory support via mechanical *** Data from 40 patients with genetically confirmed SMA who were treated with nusinersen at our institute from March 2019 to April 2022 were retrospectively *** these,30 patients with an age of onset<3 years and not on permanent ventilation were *** and genetic characteristics were investigated,and motor function was evaluated based on the Hammersmith Functional Motor Scale-Expanded(HFMSE)*** The mean age of symptom onset was 1.2 *** patients were diagnosed with SMA type II(27/30,90%).Nusinersen was administered via computed tomography-guided or direct intrathecal injection in 87%(26/30)and 13%(4/30)of the patients,*** the 6-,14-,22-,and 26-month follow-ups,72%,71%,88%,and 86%of patients showed motor improvement,respectively,with mean changes in HFMSE scores of 2.10,2.88,4.21,and 5.29,*** analysis showed that the use of noninvasive ventilation was associated with poorer outcomes of motor *** Patients with SMA type II or III who received nusinersen treatment showed significant improvement in motor function.A longer treatment duration led to a higher number of patients with improved motor *** significant side effects of nusinersen were *** with SMA,even those with severe scoliosis or on respiratory support,can be safely treated using nusinersen.

Influence of potassium pyrophosphate in electrolyte on coated layer of AZ91 Mg alloy formed by plasma electrolytic oxidation

The effect of potassium pyrophosphate in the electrolyte on plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO) process for AZ91 Mg alloy was *** morphologies and chemical compositions of the coating layer on the AZ91 Mg alloy were evaluated and corrosion resistance was also estimated by potentiodynamic polarization *** coating layer on AZ91 Mg alloy coated from the Bath 2 containing 0.03 mol/L of potassium pyrophosphate for 360 s exhibited considerably dense structure and contained 11%-18%(mass fraction) of *** higher content of phosphorous of coating layer coated from Bath 2 could be detected at the bottom of oxide layer,which strongly implied that the phosphorous ion might be concentrated at the barrier *** potential of coating layer of AZ91 Mg alloy increased and corrosion current density decreased with increasing the concentration of potassium *** polarization resistance(Rp) of coating layer of AZ91 Mg alloy coated from Bath 2 was 4.65×107 Ω/cm2,which was higher than that(Rp=3.56×104 Ω/cm2) of the sample coated from electrolyte without potassium *** coating layer coated from Bath 2 containing 0.03 mol/L potassium pyrophosphate exhibited the best corrosion resistance.
