In this study, we present a preprocessing method for quadrupole time-of-flight (Q-TOF) tandem mass spectra to increase the accuracy of database searching for peptide (protein) identification. Based on the natural isotopic information inherent in tandem mass spectra, we construct a decision tree after feature selection to classify the noise and ion peaks in tandem spectra. Furthermore, we recognize overlapping peaks to find the monoisotopic masses of ions for the following identification process. The experimental results show that this preprocessing method increases the search speed and the reliability of peptide identification.

To the Editor:Withthepopularityoflivertransplantation(LT)andtheinspirationforlong-timesurvival,issuesrelatedtoevaluatingthe liver allograft have increased in recent years [1–3]. Although there hasbeenrenewedinterestinnon-invasivemethodstoevaluate diffuseliverdisease,liverbiopsyisstillthegoldenstandardin clinical practice, particularly for liver transplant recipients (LTRs).TheliverbiopsyhasalwaysbeenperformedinLTRsasapart ofstandardprocedureincaseswhoseliverfunctionwasnormal, named as protocol liver biopsy, or to identify histological abnormalities for abnormal liver function and provide guidance for the adjustment of immunosuppressive regimen [4, 5]. Percutaneous liver biopsy (PLB) has been frequently conducted in LTRs; however,the clinical implementation of protocol liver biopsy by PLB in LTRs is challenging due to their suboptimal compliance, particularly in China [6]. Besides, the PLB procedure has been associated with discomfort and potentially life-threatening complications in the generalpopulation,asreportedintheliterature[7, 8].Recently,endoscopic ultrasound-guided liver biopsy (EUS-LB) has been widely carried out in clinical practice, with comparable safety profile, satisfactory tissue acquisition, and technical success [9–12]. To date,EUS-LB in LTRs has not been studied sufficiently, thus, our preliminary experience of EUS-LB among LTRs is presented in this study.

Temporal knowledge graph(TKG) reasoning, has seen widespread use for modeling real-world events, particularly in extrapolation settings. Nevertheless, most previous studies are embedded models, which require both entity and relation embedding to make predictions, ignoring the semantic correlations among different entities and relations within the same timestamp. This can lead to random and nonsensical predictions when unseen entities or relations occur. Furthermore, many existing models exhibit limitations in handling highly correlated historical facts with extensive temporal depth. They often either overlook such facts or overly accentuate the relationships between recurring past occurrences and their current counterparts. Due to the dynamic nature of TKG, effectively capturing the evolving semantics between different timestamps can be *** address these shortcomings, we propose the recurrent semantic evidenceaware graph neural network(RE-SEGNN), a novel graph neural network that can learn the semantics of entities and relations simultaneously. For the former challenge, our model can predict a possible answer to missing quadruples based on semantics when facing unseen entities or relations. For the latter problem, based on an obvious established force, both the recency and frequency of semantic history tend to confer a higher reference value for the current. We use the Hawkes process to compute the semantic trend, which allows the semantics of recent facts to gain more attention than those of distant facts. Experimental results show that RE-SEGNN outperforms all SOTA models in entity prediction on 6 widely used datasets, and 5 datasets in relation prediction. Furthermore, the case study shows how our model can deal with unseen entities and relations.

This study investigated environmental distribution and human exposure of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)and their derivatives in one Chinese petroleum refinery *** was found that,following with high concentrations of 16 EPA PAHs(∑Parent-PAHs)in smelting subarea of studied petroleum refinery facility,total derivatives of PAHs[named as XPAHs,including nitro PAHs(NPAHs),chlorinated PAHs(Cl-PAHs),and brominated PAHs(Br-PAHs)]in gas(mean=1.57×10^(4)ng/m^(3)),total suspended particulate(TSP)(mean=4.33×10^(3) ng/m^(3))and soil(mean=4.37×10^(3) ng/g)in this subarea had 1.76-6.19 times higher levels than those from other subareas of this facility,surrounding residential areas and reference areas,indicating that petroleum refining processes would lead apparent derivation of ***,compared with those in residential and reference areas,gas samples in the petrochemical areas had higher∑NPAH/∑PAHs(mean=2.18),but lower∑Cl-PAH/∑PAHs(mean=1.43×10^(-1))and∑Br-PAH/∑PAHs ratios(mean=7.49×10^(-2)),indicating the richer nitrification of PAHs than chlorination during petrochemical *** occupational exposure to PAHs and XPAHs in this petroleum refinery facility were 24-343 times higher than non-occupational exposure,and the ILCR(1.04×10^(-4))for petrochemical workers was considered to be potential high ***,one expanded high-resolution screening through GC Orbitrap/MS was performed for soils from petrochemical area,and another 35 PAHs were found,including alkyl-PAHs,phenyl-PAHs and other species,indicat-ing that profiles and risks of PAHs analogs in petrochemical areas deserve further expanded investigation.

Nitrogen-doping of carbon support(N-C) for platinum(Pt) nanoparticles to form Pt/N-C catalyst represents an effective strategy to promote the electrocatalysis of cathodic oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in proton exchange membrane fuel cells. For fundamental understanding, clearly identifying the metalsupport effect on enhancement mechanisms of ORR electrocatalysis is definitely needed. In this work,the impact of Pt-support interaction via interfacial Pt-N coordination on electrocatalytic ORR activity and stability in Pt/N-C catalyst is deeply studied through structural/compositional characterizations,electrochemical measurements and theoretical DFT-calculations/AIMD-simulations. The resulting Pt/N-C catalyst exhibits a superior electrocatalytic performance compared to the commercial Pt/C catalyst in both half-cell and H2-O2fuel cell. Experimental and theoretical results reveal that the interfacial Pt-N coordination enables electron transfer from N-C support to Pt nanoparticles, which can weaken the adsorption strength of oxygen intermediates on Pt surface to improve ORR activity and induce the strong Pt-support interaction to enhance electrochemical stability.
