Room-temperature Self-healing and Recyclable PDMS Elastomers with Superior Mechanical Properties for Triboelectric Nanogenerators

Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is an electron-withdrawing material that is widely used in triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs). However, PDMS has poor mechanical properties after curing and is easily damaged when subjected to long-term workloads. Thus, the long-term stable operation of TENGs under mechanical deformation cannot be guaranteed. In this work, multiple hydrogen bonds and aromatic disulfide bonds were introduced into PDMS elastomers. These elastomers exhibited high toughness (a tensile strength of 1.91 MPa and an elongation at break of 340%), good recyclability, and room-temperature self-healing properties (healing efficiency of 96.4%in 24 h). Recyclable sandwich-like triboelectric nanogenerators with excellent electrical output performance (13.5 V) and room-temperature self-healing performance (24 h, 98% recovery of self-generating performance) were prepared by utilizing the hydrogen bonding between the PDMS elastomer and MXene. The work reported herein offers theoretical guidance and a compelling strategy for developing high-performance TENG negative friction layers.

The Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source(SLEGS, located in BL03SSID) beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF) is a Laser Compton Scattering(LCS) gamma source used for the investigation of nuclear structure, which is in extensive demand in fields such as nuclear astrophysics, nuclear cluster structure, polarization physics, and nuclear energy. The beamline is based on the inverse Compton scattering of 10640 nm photons on 3.5 GeV electrons and a gamma source with variable energy by changing the scattering angle from 20° to 160°. γ rays of 0.25-21.1 MeV can be extracted by the scheme consisting of the interaction chamber, coarse collimator, fine collimator, and attenuator. The maximum photon flux for 180° is approximately 10~7 photons/s at the target at 21.7 MeV, with a 3-mm-diameter beam. The beamline was equipped with four types of spectrometers for experiments in( γ,γ'),( γ,n),( γ,p), and( γ,α). At present, Nuclear Resonance Fluorescence(NRF) spectrometry, Flat-Efficiency neutron Detector(FED) spectrometry, neutron Time-Of-Flight(TOF) spectrometry, and Light-Charged Particle(LCP) spectrometry methods have been developed.

METTL7A-mediated m6A modification of corin reverses bisphosphonates-impaired osteogenic differentiation of orofacial BMSCs

Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of jaw(BRONJ) is characterized by impaired osteogenic differentiation of orofacial bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs). Corin has recently been demonstrated to act as a key regulator in bone development and orthopedic disorders. However, the role of corin in BRONJ-related BMSCs dysfunction remains unclarified. A m6A epitranscriptomic microarray study from our group shows that the CORIN gene is significantly upregulated and m6A hypermethylated during orofacial BMSCs osteogenic differentiation. Corin knockdown inhibits BMSCs osteogenic differentiation, whereas corin overexpression or soluble corin(sCorin) exerts a promotion effect. Furthermore, corin expression is negatively regulated by bisphosphonates(BPs). Corin overexpression or sCorin reverses BPs-impaired BMSCs differentiation ability. Mechanistically, we find altered expression of phosERK in corin knockdown/overexpression BMSCs and BMSCs under sCorin stimulation. PD98059(a selective ERK inhibitor) blocks the corin-mediated promotion effect. With regard to the high methylation level of corin during osteogenic differentiation, we apply a non-selective m6A methylase inhibitor, Cycloleucine, which also blocks the corin-mediated promotion effect. Furthermore, we demonstrate that METTL7A modulates corin m6A modification and reverses BPs-impaired BMSCs function, indicating that METTL7A regulates corin expression and thus contributes to orofacial BMSCs differentiation ability. To conclude, our study reveals that corin reverses BPs-induced BMSCs dysfunction, and METTL7A-mediated corin m6A modification underlies corin promotion of osteogenic differentiation via the ERK pathway. We hope this brings new insights into future clinical treatments for BRONJ.
