Mobility of rhenium and selenium during chemical weathering and their implication for petrogenic organic carbon oxidation

The oxidative weathering of petrogenic organic carbon(OC_(petro)) is an important source of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) into the atmosphere on geological timescales and significantly influences the carbon cycle and global climate change. However, at present, a robust proxy to assess OC_(petro)oxidation is lacking. Riverine rhenium(Re) has emerged as a potential proxy to trace OC_(petro)oxidation, but little is known about Re sources and its relationship with OC_(petro)oxidation. To better understand the robustness of this proxy, we analyzed a shale weathering profile from the early Cambrian Shuijingtuo Formation in Chengkou County, Chongqing City, to address the mobility of Re and selenium(Se) and their relationship with the oxidation of OC_(petro)by analyses of the elemental variation and sequential extraction. The results showed that the chemical index of alteration(CIA)increases from the fresh bedrock to the weathered sections, indicating enhanced weathering intensity. Based on the sequential extraction and mass transfer coefficients(τ), Re and Se mainly exist in the organic phase of shale and are paired lost with OC_(petro) during weathering, with no obvious correlation with sulfide minerals. Furthermore, the different proportions of Re and Se loss with OC_(petro) loss can be attributed to their different geochemical behaviors during weathering. Our study supports Re as a robust proxy to trace OC_(petro) oxidation, whereas Se is the potential one. In the future, combined studies on various sedimentary rock profiles with catchment basins are needed to determine the sources of riverine Re and Se and their relationships with OC_(petro) oxidation.

Electron-distribution control via Pt/NC and MoC/NC dual junction:Boosted hydrogen electro-oxidation and theoretical study

The scarcity,high cost and susceptibility to CO of Platinum severely restrict its application in alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR).Hybridizing Pt with other transition metals provides an effective strategy to modulate its catalytic HOR performance,but at the cost of mass activity due to the coverage of modifiers on Pt ***,we constructed dual junctions'Pt/nitrogen-doped carbon(Pt/NC)andδ-MoC/NC to modify electronic structure of Pt via interfacial electron transfer to acquire Pt-MoC@NC catalyst with electron-deficient Pt nanoparticles,simultaneously endowing it with high mass activity and durability of alkaline ***,the unique structure of Pt-MoC@NC endows Pt with a high COtolerance at 1,000 ppm CO/H_(2),a quality that commercial Pt-C catalyst *** theoretical calculations not only confirm the diffusion of electrons from Pt/NC to Mo C/NC could occur,but also demonstrate the negative shift of Pt d-band center for the optimized binding energies of*H,*OH and CO.

Heterogeneous interfaces produced by interdomain interactions on a nanoscale performs a crucial role in boosting the properties of an electrocatalyst toward oxygen evolution reaction(OER)***,a series of dual-phase electrodes with intimately connected heterointerfaces are prepared by in situ decomposing solid solution oxide of Ni_(x)Co_(y)Fe_(100-x-y)O,which grew on Ni foam massively via an ultrafast combustion ***,with high-reaction kinetics caused by the reduction treatment at 450℃,the less electronegative Fe and Co are more oxyphilic than Ni,which facilitated their co-exsolution and formation of CoFe_2O_4/NiO oxide with enriched oxygen *** from the nanoporous framework,heterojunction structure,and oxygen defects,the self-supporting electrodes present rapid charge/mass transmission and provide abundant active sites for *** optimized sample(R-SNCF4.5)shows low overpotentials of 226 and 324 mV at 10 and100 mA·cm^(-2),a small Tafel slope(46.7 mV·dec^(-1)),and excellent *** assembled R-SNCF4.5//Pt/C/NF electrolyzer demonstrates continuous electrolysis over 50 h at a current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2),under 1.51 *** functional theory(DFT)calculations verify that the strong electronic modulation plays a critical part in the CoFe_2O_4/NiO hybrid by lowering the energy barriers for the ratedetermining steps,and Fe sites are the most active OER sites.

Influence of pressure disturbance wave on dynamic response characteristics of liquid film seal for multiphase pump

Slug flow or high GVF(Gas Volume Fraction)conditions can cause pressure disturbance waves and alternating loads at the boundary of mechanical seals for multiphase pumps,endangering the safety of multiphase pump *** mechanical seal model is simplified by using periodic boundary conditions and numerical calculations are carried out based on the Zwart-Gerber-Belamri cavitation ***(User Define Function)programs such as structural dynamics equations,alternating load equations,and pressure disturbance equations are embedded in numerical calculations,and the dynamic response characteristics of mechanical seal are studied using layered dynamic mesh *** results show that when the pressure disturbance occurs at the inlet,as the amplitude and period of the disturbance increase,the film thickness gradually *** the fundamental reason for the hysteresis of the film thickness change is that the pressure in the high-pressure area cannot be restored in a timely *** maximum value of leakage and the minimum value of axial velocity are independent of the disturbance period and determined by the disturbance *** mutual interference between enhanced waves does not have a significant impact on the film thickness,while the front wave in the attenuated wave has a promoting effect on the subsequent film thickness changes,and the fluctuation of the liquid film cavitation rate and axial velocity under the attenuated wave condition deviates from the initial *** with pressure disturbance conditions,alternating load conditions have a more significant impact on film thickness and *** actual operation,it is necessary to avoid alternating load conditions in multiphase pump mechanical seals.

Comparison of antioxidant activities between salvianolic acid B and Ginkgo biloba extract(EGb 761)

Aim:To investigate and compare the antioxidant activities of salvianolic acid B(SalB)and Ginkgo biloba extract(EGb 761)in aqueous solution,rat microsomesand the cellular ***:Superoxide anion(O2~-)was generated usingxanthine/xanthine oxidase system and phenazine methosulate/NADH system,andthe effects of SalB and EGb 761 on the generation of O2~- were achieved by spectro-photometric measurement of the product formed on reduction of nitro *** different methods were used to assess the scavenging effects ofthe extracts on hydroxyl radical(.OH):HPLC method was used for quantitation *** by oxy-radical trapping of 5,5-dimethyl- 1-pyrroline-N-oxide(DMPO)to formDMPO-OH adducts in Fe2+-*** confirm the HPLC data,.OHwas also measured by spectrophotometry using a commercial detection ***-lipid peroxidation effects of the extracts in microsomes of rat brain,liver andkidney induced by ascorbate-NADPH were determined by thiobarbituric acid(TBA)*** protective effects of the extracts on peroxide hydrogen(H2O2)-induced oxidative damage in SH-SY5Y cells were investigated by assessing cellviability assay,the level of lipid peroxidation,and the lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)***:Both SalB and EGb 761 were able to scavenge O2~- ***,inhibit lipid peroxidation of microsomes,and protect SH-SY5Y ceils againstH2O2-induced oxidative ***,the concentration of SalB was far lowerthan that of EGb 761 when a similar effect was ***:The antioxi-dant efficiency of SalB was greater than that of EGb *** results suggestthat SalB,like EGb 761,has promising potential in treating oxidative damage-derived neurodegenerative disorders.

ZIF-8-functionalized polymer electrolyte with enhanced performance for high-temperature solid-state lithium metal batteries

Solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs)with high ionic conductivity are desirable for solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs)to achieve enhanced safety and energy *** nanofillers into a polymeric matrix to develop nanocomposite solid electrolytes(NCSEs)has become a promising method for improving the ionic conductivity of the ***,a novel ZIF-8-functionalized NCSE was prepared for high-temperature S SLMB s using an in situ radical polymerization *** is found that the ZIF-8 nanoparticles could reduce the crystallinity of polymer segments and offer a Lewis acid surface that promotes the dissociation of lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide(LiTFSI)and stabilizes the TFSI^(-) anion ***,the as-prepared NCSE exhibits an outstanding ionic conductivity of 1.63×10^(-3)S·cm^(-1),an electrochem ical stability window of 5.0 V at 80℃,and excellent interface compatibility with lithium metal anode with a stable polarization over 2000 ***,the assembled SSLMBs with LiFePO_(4)cathode show dendrite-free Li-metal surface,good rate capability,and stable cycling stability with a capacity retention of 70%over 1000 cycles at a high temperature of 80℃.This work provides valuable insights into promoting the ionic conductivity of SPEs.

Deep tissue infections caused by pathogenic bacteria seriously threat the lives of *** this study a smart heterostructured Au/Cu-BTA （BTA=1,2,4,5-benzenetetramine） with microwave （MW） response is synthesized via NaBH4reduction of HAuCl4on the ***/Cu-BTA exhibits excellent hyperthermy and dynamics under MW *** MW thermal mechanism of Au/Cu-BTA is attributed to the excellen dielectric loss and polarization of the heterogeneous ***,the surface energy levels of the Cu-BTA interface alleviate the difficulty of electron hopping through multistage ***,MW can excite Cu-BTA to produce free ***,Au nanoparticles rapidly increase electron transfer and inhibit electron-hole ***,the yields of reactive oxygen species can be enhanced for MW dynamic therapy Consequently,under 10 min of MW irradiation,Au/Cu-BTA killed 99.998%±0.001% of Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus,99.966%±0.014% of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus,and 96.871%±0.831% of Gram-negative Pseudomonas *** effective MW bacteria-killing strategy designed in this study shows significant potential for application in the MW-responsive treatment of deep tissue infections without antibiotics.

On a cold spouted fluidized bed,this study compares the characteristic differences in intrinsic mode function(IMF)energy and Hilbert–Huang spectrum between the spout zone and annulus zone under different combinations of spouted gas and fluidized gas flow rates for five typical flow *** energy distribution characteristics under different flow patterns are also *** Hilbert–Huang spectrum and IMF energy of pressure difference signals exhibit distinct variations in different zones as the flow pattern ***,there exists a correlation between the energy in the middle-frequency range and the flow *** the K-means algorithm,the middle-frequency range energy of IMFs in the spout zone and annulus zone is subjected to clustering analysis,leading to the identification of partition boundaries for each flow *** on this,a flow pattern identification method of spouted fluidized bed coupled with middle-frequency range energy in spout zone and annulus zone is proposed,which has very high identification accuracy.

Monocyte to High-density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Ratio as a Predictor of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Childhood Obesity

Objective Inflammation is involved in the development and progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).The monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio(MHR)has emerged as a marker for various inflammation-related *** aim of the present study was to investigate the association between the MHR and NAFLD in a population with childhood *** Based on hepatic ultrasound,a total of 504 children with obesity(357 with NAFLD and 147 without NAFLD)were included in the *** correlation between the MHR and NAFLD risk factors was assessed by Pearson’s and Spearman’s *** stepwise logistic regression analyses were conducted to explore the association between the MHR and the risk of *** The MHR in patients with NAFLD was significantly greater than that in patients without NAFLD[0.52(0.44-0.67)versus 0.44(0.34-0.57),P<0.001].Multivariate stepwise logistic regression analysis demonstrated that the MHR[odds ratio(OR):1.033,95%confidence interval(CI):1.015-1.051;P<0.001]was an independent predictor of NAFLD in childhood obesity patients,as were age(OR:1.205,95%CI:1.059-1.371;P=0.005],waist circumference[OR:1.037,95%CI:1.008-1.067;P=0.012],and alanine transaminase[OR:1.067,95%CI:1.045-1.089;P<0.001].Additionally,MHR quartiles showed a significant positive association with the incidence of NAFLD after adjusting for potential confounding *** The present study showed that the MHR may serve as an available and useful indicator of NAFLD in individuals with childhood obesity.
