Paleogene integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China

The Paleogene is the first period after the Mesozoic Mass Extinction. Mammals become the dominant group in the terrestrial ecosystem with a rapid radiation, and Asia has been considered to be the origin place of several mammalian *** Paleogene System consists mostly of terrestrial deposits in Asia, especially in East Asia. A well-established regional chronostratigraphic framework is the foundation for understanding both the Paleogene geologic history and evolutionary history of Asia and their relationships. The Paleogene is subdivided into the Paleocene, Eocene and Oligocene in the International Chronostratigraphic Chart. Based on the land mammal ages, the Chinese terrestrial Paleogene can be subdivided into 11 stages:the Shanghuan, Nongshanian and Bayanulanian stages of the Paleocene, the Lingchan, Arshantan, Irdinmanhan, Sharamurunian,Ulangochuian and Baiyinian stages of the Eocene, and the Ulantatalian and Tabenbulukian stages of the Oligocene. These stages have distinctive paleontological characters, with special significance of fossil mammals, which provide a reliable practical *** bases of the Shanghuan, Lingchan, and Ulantatalian stages are coincident respectively with those of the Paleocene, Eocene and Oligocene. The ages for their bases are determined as 66.0, 56.0 and 33.9 Ma, respectively, following that for the corresponding series in the International Chronostratigraphic Chart. For other stages, estimated ages are provided based on available paleomagnetic results.

Characterization and ultraviolet-visible shielding property of samarium-cerium compounds containing Sm_(2)O_(2)S prepared by co-precipitation method

Since ultraviolet(UV)light,as well as blue light,which is part of visible light,is harmful to skin,samarium-cerium compounds containing Sm_(2)O_(2)S were synthesized by co-precipitation *** kind of compounds blocks not only UV light,but also blue *** minimum values of average transmittance(360-450 nm)and band gap of samarium-cerium compounds were 8.90%and 2.76 eV,respectively,which were less than 13.96%and 3.01 eV of CeO_(2).Elemental analysis(EA),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transformation infrared(FTIR),and Raman spectra determined that the samples contained Ce_(4)O_(7),Sm_(2)O_(2)S,Sm_(2)O_(3),and Sm_(2)O_(2)SO_(4).The microstructure of samples was analyzed by scanning and transmission electron microscopies(SEM and TEM).X-ray photoelectron spectrum(XPS)showed that cerium had Ce^(3+)and Ce^(4+) valence states,and oxygen was divided into lattice oxygen and oxygen vacancy,which was the direct cause of the decrease of average transmittance and band gap.

The reactions of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(p-hydroxyphenyl) porphyrin 1 and 5-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-10,15,20-tris(p-methoxyphenyl) porphyrin 2 with 1-bromo-2,3,4,6-O-acetyl-alpha -D- glucoside 3 respectively afforded 5,10,15,20-tetrakis[p-(2,3,4,6-O-acetyl-glucoside)-1-O-phenyl]porphyrin 4 and 5,10,15-tris(p-methoxyphenyl)-20-[p-(2,3,4,6-O-acetyl-glucoside)-1-O-phenyl] porphyrin 5. Their metal complexes Co-II(4), Mn-II (4) and Co-II(5), Mn-II'(5) also have been prepared. These new compounds have been identified by IR, UV-visible,H-1 NMR spectra and elemental analysis.

In vivo skin penetration and metabolic path of quantum dots

The skin is the largest organ of the body and is a potential route of exposure to sunscreens and cosmetics containing nanoparticles; however, the permeability of the skin to these nanoparticles is currently unknown. In this paper, we studied the transderreal delivery capacity through mouse skin of water-soluble CdSeS quantum dots （QDs） and the deposition of these QDs in the body. QD solution was coated onto the dorsal hairless skin of male ICR mice. Fluorescence microscopy and transmission electron microscopy （TEM） were used to observe the distribution of QDs in the skin and organs, and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry （ICP-MS） was used to measure the 111Cd content to indicate the concentration of QDs in plasma and organs. Experimental results indicate that QDs can penetrate into the dermal layer and are limited to the uppermost stratum corneum layers and the hair follicles. Through blood circulation, QDs deposit mostly in liver and kidney and are difficult to clear, 111Cd concentration was greater than 14 ng g-1 in kidney after 120 h after 0.32 nmol QDs was applied to a mouse. These results suggest that QDs have in vivo transdermal delivery capacity through mouse skin and are harmful to the liver and kidney.

Effect of moxibustion on expression profile of miRNAs in Tripterygium glycoside-induced decreased ovarian reserve

OBJECTIVE:To explore the possible regulatory mechanism of microRNA(miRNA)in moxibustion treatment for decreased ovarian reserve(DOR).METHODS:The DOR model was constructed by intragastrical Tripterygium glycoside suspension administration,and moxibustion therapy was simultaneously *** morphological ovarian changes were observed by hematoxylin and eosin *** miRNA expression profile was detected by RNA sequencing,and bioinformatics analysis was *** software 3.6.1 was used to establish a regulatory network and differentially expressed miRNAs were verified by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR).RESULTS:Decreased number of mature follicles,increased atresia follicles,and abnormal granulosa cell morphology were observed in the model group compared with the control *** moxibustion group demonstrated increased mature follicles,decreased atretic follicles,and significantly decreased abnormal morphology of granulosa cells compared with the model ***,RNA sequencing results manifested significantly up-regulated miRNA expressions(miR-92b-3p,miR-26-5p_R+1_1ss10TC,miR-206-3p,miR-9993b-3p_1ss6GA,miR-7857-3p_R-1,miR-219a-2-3p_1ss10GC,miR-3968-p5_1ss10AT,and PC-5p-6478_1795)and down-regulated miR-664-2-5p_R+1 in the model group,compared with the control group,and the moxibustion group reversed abnormal disorder levels of these ***,these differentially expressed miRNAs were mainly involved in the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/protein kinase B signaling pathway and nuclear factor erythropoietin-2-related factor 2/heme oxygenase 1 signaling ***,network and RT-qPCR verification revealed miR-9993b-3p_1ss6GA as the most critical ***:This experiment proved the effectiveness of moxibustion in improving the ovarian reserve of rats by regulating miRNA expression,especially miR-9993b-3p_1ss6GA.

Developing highly active alloy catalysts that surpass the performance of platinum group metals in the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)is critical in ***-based single-atom alloy(AuSAA)clusters are gaining recognition as promising alternatives due to their potential for high ***,enhancing its activity of AuSAA clusters remains challenging due to limited insights into its actual active site in alkaline ***,we studied a variety of Au_(54)M_(1) SAA cluster catalysts and revealed the operando formed MO_(x)(OH)_(y) complex acts as the crucial active site for catalyzing the ORR under the basic solution *** observed volcano plot indicates that Au_(54)Co_(1),Au_(54)M_(1),and Au_(54)Ru_(1) clusters can be the optimal Au_(54)M_(1) SAA cluster catalysts for the *** findings offer new insights into the actual active sites of AuSAA cluster catalysts,which will inform rational catalyst design in experimental settings.

Features and Prototypes of HTS High Q Resonant Circuit

High Te superconductor （HTS） technology has been used to develop a unique high Q resonant circuit. Such circuit or device has some special characteristics such as very high voltage generation. Theoretical study and experimental approaches have proceeded for the concept verification. This paper presents the theory about this high Q resonant circuit. The operation principle of the circuit is described. A practical prototype for HTS high voltage generation is also demonstrated. The experiment result shows that very high voltages can be achieved by the developed method using HTS technology.

After discovering high temperature superconducting materials 20 years ago, the preparation of applicable HTS materials has been pursued along with HTS mechanism and characteristic study. At present, the focus on the applied HTS technology has been moving to the industrial preparations from the laboratory research stage, and the technology has been well verified for practical applications from small to large scales. The fabrication techniques of engineering HTS materials are being industrialized; and various HTS devices are also on the way towards practical applications. This paper provides a comprehensive summary on the applied high temperature superconductivity with regard to various applicable HTS materials, their preparation techniques and charac- terization, and applications in a wide range.
