Bone diseases such as osteoporosis and periodontitis are induced by excessive osteoclastic activity,which is closely associated with ***(BA)has been used as a cytokine-suppressive or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines or ***,its role in osteoclast differentiation and function remains ***,we explored the role of BA in regulating osteoclast differentiation and elucidated the underlying *** inhibited osteoclast differentiation and strongly suppressed interleukin-1β(IL-1β)*** inhibited osteoclast formation and bone resorption when added to bone marrowderived macrophages and differentiated osteoclasts,and the inhibitory effect was reversed by IL-1β*** reporter assay and the inhibitor study of IL-1βtranscription suggested that BA inhibited nuclear factor-κB and activator protein-1 by regulating IκB kinase,extracellular signal regulated kinase and P38,resulting in the down-regulation of IL-1β*** also promoted osteoblast ***,BA protected lipopolysaccharide-and ovariectomy-induced bone loss in mice,suggesting therapeutic potential against inflammation-induced bone diseases and postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Objective To evaluate the effect of 3-month kale （Brassica oleracea acephala） juice supplementation on coronary artery disease risk factors among hypercholesterolemic men. Methods Thirty-two men with hypercholesterolemia （〉 200 mg/dL） were recruited after annual health examinations among the faculty and staff at university. The subjects consumed 150 mL of kale juice per day for a 12-week intervention period. Dietary and anthropometric assessments were performed and blood samples were collected to evaluate biochemical profiles before and after supplementation. Results Serum concentrations of HDL-cholesterol, and HDL- to LDL-cholesterol ratio were significantly increased by 27% （P〈0.0001） and 52% （P〈0.0001）, respectively. The LDL-cholesterol concentration and the atherogenic index were significantly reduced by 10% （P=0.0007） and 24.2% （P〈0.0001）, respectively without affecting body mass index, waist and hip circumferences, or nutrient intakes after three months of supplementation. While there was no difference in the concentration of malondialdehyde, significant increase in glutathione peroxidase activity （P=0.0005） were accompanied by a significant increase in the serum selenium level （P=0.0132）. It was also found that the responses of these risk factors to kale juice administration were dependent on smoking status. Conclusion Regular meals supplementation with kale juice can favorably influence serum lipid profiles and antioxidant systems, and hence contribute to reduce the risks of coronary artery disease in male subjects with hyperlipidemia.

Perforation of the gallbladder with cholecystohepatic communication is a rare cause of liver abscess. Because it is a rare entity, the treatment modality has not been fully established. We report for the first time a patient with an intrahepatic abscess due to gallbladder perforation successfully treated by endoscopic stent placement into the gallbladder who had a poor response to continuous percutaneous drainage.

BACKGROUND：Prothymosinα（PTMA）is a nuclear oncoprotein-transcription factor essential for cell cycle progression and *** was overexpressed in several human malignancies including hepatocellular carcinoma（HCC）.However,the prognostic significance of PTMA protein expression in HCC remains *** the present study,we evaluated PTMA protein expression by immunohistochemistry in order to elucidate the prognostic roles of PTMA in HCC ***： By immunohistochemistry, we investigated the expression of PTMA protein in tumor tissue from 226 HCC patients who underwent curative hepatectomy. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate its predic- tive value for tumor recurrence and survival of patients. The median follow-up period was 120 months. RESULTS： PTMA expression was observed in 162 （71.7%） of the 226 HCC patients and was significantly associated with higher Edmondson grade, microvascular invasion, intrahe- patic metastasis, higher American Joint Committee on Cancer （AJCC） T-stage, and lower albumin level. PTMA expression was an independent predictor of early recurrence （P=0.001）. PTMA expression showed an unfavorable influence on recurrence- free survival （RFS）（P〈0.001）. Subgroup analysis showed that among patients with tumor size _〈5.0 cm （140 patients）, patients at AJCC T-stage I （95 patients） and patients with a-fetoprotein ≤20 ng/mL （83 patients）, the differences in RFS between PTMA- positive and PTMA-negative groups were also statistically sig- nificant （P=0.017, P=0.002 and P=0.002, respectively）. In addi- tion, PTMA expression was an independent predictor of shorter RFS （P=0.011）. PTMA expression showed an unfavorable influ- ence on overall survival （P=0.014）, but was not an independent predictor of shorter overall survival （P=0.161）. CONCLUSIONS： PTMA protein expression might be a novel predictor of early recurrence and RFS in HCC patients, even those at early stage or with a-fetoprotein-negative after curative hep

Background:Administrative database provides valuable information for large cohort studies,especially when tissue diagnosis is rather difficult such as the diagnosis for bile duct cancer(BDC).The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of administrative database for BDC by International Classification of Diseases(ICD)-10 codes in a tertiary ***:BDC and control groups were collected from 2003 to 2016 at Seoul National University Bundang *** of BDC were identified in the National Health Insurance Service(NHIS)database by ICD 10-code supported by V *** control group was selected from cases without ICD-10 codes for BDC.A definite or possible diagnosis was defined according to pathologic *** records,images,and pathology reports were analyzed to evaluate ICD-10 codes for ***,specificity,positive predictive value,and negative predictive value for BDC were analyzed according to diagnostic criteria and cancer ***:A total of 1707 patients with BDC and 1707 controls were *** those with BDC,1320(77.3%)were diagnosed by definite ***(99.4%)of them had *** of definite diagnosis was the highest for ampulla of Vater(88.9%),followed by that for extrahepatic(84.9%)and intrahepatic(68.3%)*** positive cases commonly had hepatocellular *** overall diagnosis of BDC,sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,and negative predictive value were 99.94%,98.33%,98.30%,and 99.94%,*** accuracies were similar regardless of diagnostic criteria or tumor ***:Administrative database for BDC collected according to ICD-10 code with V code shows good accuracy.

Efficacy of 14-d vs 7-d moxifloxacin-based triple regimens for second-line Helicobacter pylori eradication

AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of the 14-d moxifloxacinbased triple therapy for the second-line eradication of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) ***: Between 2011 and 2013, we conducted a retrospective review of the medical records of 160 patients who had experienced failure of their first-line proton pump inhibitor-based eradication therapy and subsequently received the moxifloxacin-based triple therapy as a second-line eradication treatment regimen. The patients who were treated with the moxifloxacinbased triple therapy(oral 20 mg rabeprazole b.i.d., 1000 mg amoxicillin b.i.d., and 400 mg moxifloxacin q.d.) for 7 d were assigned to the RAM-7 group(n = 79) while those who took them for 14 days were assigned to RAM-14 group(n = 81). The eradication rates for both groups were determined by intentionto-treat(ITT) and per-protocol(PP) analyses. ITT analysis compared the treatment groups as originally allocated while the PP analysis including only those patients who had completed the treatment as originally allocated. Successful eradication therapy for H. pylori infection was defined as the documentation of a negative 13C-urea breath test 4 wk after the end of the eradication ***: The overall ITT eradication rate was 76.2%(122/160). The final ITT eradication rates were 70.8%(56/79; 95%CI: 63.3%-77.1%) in the RAM-7 group and 81.4%(66/81; 95%CI: 74.6%-88.3%) in the RAM-14 group(P = 0.034). The overall PP eradication rate was 84.1%(122/145), and the final PP eradication rates were 77.7%(56/72; 95%CI: 70.2%-85.3%) in the RAM-7 group and 90.4%(66/73; 95%CI: 82.8%-98.1%) in the RAM-14 group(P = 0.017). The H. pylori-eradication rates in the RAM-14 group were significantly higher compared with that of the RAM-7 group according to both the ITT(P = 0.034) and the PP analyses(P = 0.017). The microstructure and mechanical properties of newly developed Al-35Zn cast alloys with TiB refiner addition were evaluated by X-ray diffractometry, optical microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectrometry. The microstructure of these alloys featured α-Al den- drites surrounded by AI-Zn （α ＋ rI） eutectic structures. After the addition of TiB refiner, the alloy grain sizes decreased, and its morphology abruptly changed from dendritic to equiaxed grains. Such an im- proved microstructure of the modified alloys was accompanied by a significant increase in the tensile strength and elongation percentage compared to those of the AI-Zn or Zn-Al-based alloys. The results showed that with the increase of TiB content up to 0.05%, the morphology of α-Al dendrites and α ＋ T1 phases changed from coarse dendrite and lamellar structures into independent and fine ones. Based on these results, the effect of TiB refiner addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the AI-35Zn binary alloys was investigated.

The tip vortex cavitation and its relevant noise has been the subject of extensive researches up to now. In most cases of experimental approaches, the accurate and objective decision of cavitation inception is primary, which is the main topic of this paper. Although the conventional power spectrum is normally adopted as a signal processing tool for the analysis of cavitation noise, a faithful exploration cannot be made especially for the cavitation inception. Alternatively, the periodic occurrence of bursting noise induced from tip vortex cavitation gives a diagnostic proof that the repeating frequency of the bursting contents can be exploited as an indication of the inception. This study, hence, employed the Short-Time Fourier Transform （STFT） analysis and the Detection of Envelope Modulation On Noise （DEMON） specmma analysis, both which are appropriate for finding such a repeating frequency. Through the acoustical measurement in a water tunnel, the two signal processing techniques show a satisfactory result in detecting the inception of tip vortex cavitation.
