Understanding the sensitivity of tidal flats to environmental changes is ***,most studies rely on process-based models to systematically explain the morphodynamic evolution of tidal *** this study,we proposed an alternative empirical approach to explore tidal flat dynamics using statistical indices based on long-term time series of daily surface elevation *** elevation dynamic(SED)indices focus on the magnitude and period of surface elevation changes,while morphodynamic signature(MDS)indices relate sediment dynamics to environmental *** statistical analyses were applied to an intervention site in the Netherlands to determine the effect of recently constructed groynes on the tidal *** these analyses,we were able to(1)detect a reduction in the daily SED and(2)determine that the changes in the daily SED were predominantly caused by the reduction in wave impact between the groynes rather than the reduction in tidal ***,the presented results showed that the combination of novel statistical indices provides new insights into the trajectories of tidal flats,ecosystem functioning,and sensitivity to physical drivers(wind and tides).Finally,we suggested how the SED and MDS indices may help to explore the future trajectories and climate resilience of intertidal habitats.

Little research can be found in relation to the stability of anisotropic and heterogenous soils in three *** this paper,we propose a study on the three-dimensional(3D)undrained slopes in anisotropic and heterogenous clay using advanced upper and lower bounds finite element limit analysis(FELA).The obtained stability solutions are normalized,and presented by a stability number that is a function of three geometrical ratios and two material ratios,*** ratio,length ratio,slope angle,shear strength gradient ratio and anisotropic strength *** results are compared with experimental data in the literature,and charts are presented to cover a wide range of design *** the multivariate adaptive regression splines(MARS)analysis,the respective influence and sensitivity of each design parameter on the stability number and the failure mechanism are *** empirical equation is also developed to effectively estimate the stability number.

Most geotechnical stability research is linked to“active”failures,in which soil instability occurs due to soil self-weight and external surcharge *** contrast,research on passive failure is not common,as it is predominately caused by external loads that act against the soil *** earlier active trapdoor stability investigation using the Terzaghi’s three stability factor approach was shown to be a feasible method for evaluating cohesive-frictional soil ***,this technical note aims to expand“active”trapdoor research to assess drained circular trapdoor passive stability(blowout condition)in cohesive-frictional soil under axisymmetric *** numerical finite element limit analysis(FELA)simulations,soil cohesion,surcharge,and soil unit weight effects are considered using three stability factors(Fc,Fs,and Fγ),which are all associated with the cover-depth ratio and soil internal friction *** upper-bound(UB)and lower-bound(LB)results are presented in design charts and tables,and the large dataset is further studied using an artificial neural network(ANN)as a predictive model to produce accurate design *** proposed passive trapdoor problem under axisymmetric conditions is significant when considering soil blowout stability owing to faulty underground storage tanks or pipelines with high internal pressures.

Tunnel heading stability in two dimensions(2D)has been extensively investigated by numerous scholars in the past *** significant limitation of 2D analysis is the absence of actual tunnel geometry modeling with a considerable degree of ***,it is possible to study the stability of tunnels in three dimensions(3D)with a rectangular shape using finite element limit analysis(FELA)and a nonlinear programming *** paper employs 3D FELA to generate rigorous solutions for stability numbers,failure mechanisms,and safety factors for rectangular-shaped *** further explore the usefulness of the produced results,multivariate adaptive regression spline(MARS)is used for machine learning of big dataset and development of design equations for practical design *** study should be of great benefit to tunnel design practices using the developed equations provided in the paper.

Different turbulence closures were used to predict the flow interaction between the wakes created by compressor outlet guide vanes(OGVs) and a downstream annular *** statistical turbulence models were tested based on the classical Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) *** high-Re and low-Re(Launder-Sharma) versions of the k-ε model were applied to a selected test problem for OGV wake/diffuser *** test problem was specifically chosen because experimentally determined inlet conditions and both profile and performance data were available to validate predictions.A preliminary study was also reported of the more advanced large eddy simulation(LES) *** LES sub-grid-scale(SGS) model was the basic Smagorinsky eddy viscosity assumption,with a van-Driest damping function for improved capture of near-wall viscous *** between the two RANS models showed little difference in terms of velocity contours at OGV trailing edge and diffuser *** terms of overall diffuser performance(static pressure recovery and total pressure loss coefficients),the high-Re model was shown to agree well with experimental *** preliminary LES study indicates the highly unsteady character of the OGV wake flow,but requires improved treatment of inlet conditions.

如果精神病是一种跨诊断的维度,精神病性症状的出现受动态变化的情境和情感因素左右,而后者又是可治疗的,那么目前精神科疾病的分类学和治疗研究的方法可能需要修改。迄今为此,无论在临床工作上还是在疾病概念上,占主导地位的方法是将精神病性症状置于精神分裂症的框架中。然而,终生患病率为1%的精神分裂症只代表了部分预后不佳的精神病谱系障碍,而后者发生更多,终生患病率为3.5%。因此,精神分裂症的研究结果可能反映了预后相关的机制,而非精神病和其他症状维度之间本质上的相关性。同样,常见的非精神病性精神障碍中高达30%的个体有阈下精神病性症状,他们会被归于精神病的跨诊断维度之下,这些精神症状还会影响临床严重程度和治疗有效性。上述发现也同样提示武断区分"精神病性"与"非精神病性"的做法妨碍了临床实践和研究。精神病学诊断手册可以借鉴跨诊断维度(包括精神病的跨诊断维度)的体系。引入跨诊断维度,则既能根据原则进行分类诊断(即疾病分组的特异性),又可结合个体特有的多维度综合评分(即个体特异性)。这样的益处在于促使人们思考在精神病理学中症状之间是如何动态地交互作用的,并思考社会环境是如何影响精神病理症状的。

Empowerment according to Persons with Severe Mental Illness: Development of the Netherlands Empowerment List and Its Psychometric Properties

Objectives. It is unclear whether and to what extent purportedly empowering practices in mental health care, like rehabilitation programs, recovery-supporting mental health care environments and peer-run services, contribute to the process of empowerment. Several American empowerment questionnaires have been developed in recent years, facilitating the measurement of empowerment outcomes. Given likely major transatlantic cultural differences in a value-sensitive concept such as empowerment, this article describes the development of the Netherlands Empowerment List (NEL) and its psychometric properties. Methods. Patients in Dutch mental health services provided meaning to the empowerment concept from which the NEL was derived. Based on 531 completed questionnaires, analyses in agreement with COSMIN criteria examined aspects of internal consistency, content validity, structural validity, convergent validity, discriminant validity, reproducibility and responsiveness of the NEL. Results. The NEL is a 40-item self-report questionnaire with six subscales: Social support, Professional help, Connectedness, Confidence and purpose, Self-management and Caring community. Internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.94), aspects of validity, reproducibility (intraclass correlation = 0.79) and responsiveness were good. Correlation with existing scales was the highest for the Mental Health Confidence Scale (r = 0.78) and the lowest for the Boston Empowerment Scale (r = 0.61). Conclusion. The NEL appears to be a suitable instrument to capture the dimension of empowerment in European mental health settings.

Background: Catheter related bloodstream infections (CRIs) are a major cause of morbidity, mortality and prolonged hospitalization in pediatric patients with home parenteral nutrition (HPN). In recent years, new prophylactic and treatment options have been evaluated to reduce the incidence of CRIs and infection related catheter removals. In children, two retrospective studies have shown the efficacy of ethanol lock treatment (ELT) in reducing the incidence of CRIs in pediatric oncology patients. However, prospective data are missing. Our aim of the present study was to evaluate prospectively the effect of ELT on the cure and recurrence rate of CRIs, duration of hospitalization and antibiotic use in HPN pediatric patients. Methods: HPN children older than three months with a clinical suspicion of a CRI were included and randomised to ELT or standard flushing treatment (heparin or taurolidine). The primary outcomes were persistence and recurrence of the bacteraemia and Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) removal. Secondary outcomes included duration of antibiotic use, duration of hospitalization and side effects. Results: Data from eight HPN children experiencing 14 suspected CRI were analysed. Seven patients had proven CRIs by positive blood cultures. Four were treated with ELT and three with their standard flushing treatment. One CRI persisted in the control group. In one single patient, bacteraemia recurred three times within 24 weeks. This patient had been enrolled in both study arms. A CVAD removal was needed in one patient because of occlusion. Conclusions: This small study showed no additional efficacy of the use of ELT on cure rate or recurrences of CRIs compared to standard therapy in HPN treated children. There were also no differences in duration of hospitalization, the use of antibiotics or CVAD removal between both groups.

The chiral magnetic effect(CME)is a novel transport phenomenon,arising from the interplay between quantum anomalies and strong magnetic fields in chiral *** high-energy nuclear collisions,the CME may survive the expansion of the quark-gluon plasma fireball and be detected in *** the past two decades,experimental searches for the CME have attracted extensive interest at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider(RHIC)and the Large Hadron Collider(LHC).The main goal of this study is to investigate three pertinent experimental approaches:the$\gamma$correlator,the R correlator,and the signed balance *** exploit simple Monte Carlo simulations and a realistic event generator(EBE-AVFD)to verify the equivalence of the core components among these methods and to ascertain their sensitivities to the CME signal and the background contributions for the isobar collisions at the RHIC.
