Optimization for the multi-chiller system is an indispensable approach for the operation of highly efficient chiller *** optima obtained by model-based optimization algorithms are dependent on precise and solvable objective *** classical neural networks cannot provide convex input-output mappings despite capturing impressive nonlinear fitting capabilities,resulting in a reduction in the robustness of model-based *** this paper,we leverage the input convex neural networks(ICNN)to identify the chiller model to construct a convex mapping between control variables and the objective function,which enables the NN-based OCL as a convex optimization problem and apply it to multi-chiller optimization for optimal chiller loading(OCL).Approximation performances are evaluated through a four-model comparison based on an experimental data set,and the statistical results show that,on the premise of retaining prior convexities,the proposed model depicts excellent approximation power for the data set,especially the unseen ***,the ICNN model is applied to a typical OCL problem for a multi-chiller system and combined with three types of optimization *** with conventional and meta-heuristic methods,the numerical results suggest that the gradient-based BFGS algorithm provides better energy-saving ratios facing consecutive cooling load inputs and an impressive convergence speed.

Under the dual-carbon target, CO_(2) mineralization through solid wastes presents a mutually beneficial approach for permanent carbon emission reduction at a low material cost, while also enabling the resource utilization of these wastes. However, despite its potential, a comprehensive understanding about the effect of industrial solid waste properties and operating parameters on the carbonation process, and the mechanism of direct aqueous carbonation is still lacking. A series of experiments were conducted to compare the carbonation performance of fly ash, steel slag, and carbide slag. Subsequently, CO_(2) mineralization by carbide slag was systematically studied under various operating parameters due to its high CO_(2) sequestration capacity. Results showed the reactivity of CaO and Ca(OH)2 was higher than that of CaO·SiO_(2) and 2CaO·SiO_(2). Carbide slag demonstrated a sequestration capacity of 610.8 g CO_(2)/kg and carbonation efficiency ζCa of 62.04% under the conditions of 65 ℃, 1.5 MPa initial CO_(2) pressure, 15 mL/g liquid-to-solid ratio, and 200 r/min stirring speed. Moreover, the formation of carbonates was confirmed through XRD, SEM-EDS, TG, and FTIR. A mechanism analysis revealed that initially, the rate of the carbonation process was primarily controlled by the mass transfer of CO_(2) in the gas–liquid interface. However, the rate-determining step gradually shifted to the mass transfer of Ca2+ in the solid–liquid interface as the reaction time increased. This study lays the foundation for the large-scale implementation of CO_(2) sequestration through carbide slag carbonation.

With a pressing need for high efficiency, low power consumption, and miniaturization of electronics, soft magnetic composites(SMCs) show great potential, especially for applications in key electronic component. However, core loss is still the focused issue for SMCs that hinders their sustainable development and widespread applications. In the present study, high-performance SMCs were fabricated by novel Fe_(74)B_(7)C_(7)P_(7)Si_(3)Mo_(1)Cr_(1) powders with spherical shape and a fully glassy structure, which were successfully prepared by a gas atomization method. The microstructure and high-frequency magnetic properties of these SMCs were studied in detail. To enhance the soft ferromagnetism, the effects of annealing temperature(T_a) and powder size on their performance were clarified. Increasing T_a up to 703 K not only helps to effectively release internal stress in the powders, but also improves the integrity of the insulation layer structure, which is conducive to decreasing the core loss. In addition, reducing the powder size contributes to the overall performance enhancement. Prepared from the powders with the smallest mean particle size and annealed at 703 K, the SMC exhibits optimum property combination of a stable effective permeability of 26.2 up to 1 MHz, a total core loss of 883 kW m^(–3)(100 kHz, 100 mT), and a DC-Bias performance of 79.3% under 100 Oe field, which is even comparable to those of the most prominent SMCs reported so far. These results are meaningful for potentially stimulating the development and application of new low-loss SMCs.

Supercapacitors are electrochemical energy storage devices with great potential ***-while,the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)determines the efficiency of some electrochemical energy *** study aims at constructing,exploring,and optimizing Ramsdellite-MnO_(2)@NiCoAl-LDH@CC(R-MNCA@CC)*** effect of microstructure and Al role on the performance is investigated when R-MNCA@CC was used as supercapacitor electrode material and OER ***-like R-MNCA@CC in-situ growth composites were synthesized by a two-step hydrothermal method.R-MNCA@CC-2(molar ratio of Ni:Co:Al is 1:1:1)performs the best with the largest specific capacitance,1,742 F/g at 1 A/g,increased by 797%and 1,489%compared to that of NiCoAl-LDH and Ramsdellite-MnO_(2).The capacitance retention rate of the R-MNCA@CC-2//AC@CC supercapacitor is 80.1%after 5,000 cycles at 0.8 A/*** overpotential for driving an OER to reach 10 m/cm^(2)is only 276 mV,which is lower than that of commercial IrO_(2)(300 mV).Noteworthy,we propose a view that is“competing to trigger redox re-action”of electrochemical active sites in LDH during electrochemical processes derived from a discrepancy between theory and experimental results.

Rechargeable magnesium-metal batteries(RMMBs)are promising next-generation secondary batteries;however,their development is inhibited by the low capacity and short cycle lifespan of *** various strategies have been devised to enhance the Mg^(2+)migration kinetics and structural stability of cathodes,they fail to improve electronic conductivity,rendering the cathodes incompatible with magnesium-metal ***,we propose a dual-defect engineering strategy,namely,the incorporation of Mg^(2+)pre-intercalation defect(P-Mgd)and oxygen defect(Od),to simultaneously improve the Mg^(2+)migration kinetics,structural stability,and electronic conductivity of the cathodes of *** lamellar V_(2)O_(5)·nH_(2)O as a demo cathode material,we prepare a cathode comprising Mg_(0.07)V_(2)O_(5)·1.4H_(2)O nanobelts composited with reduced graphene oxide(MVOH/rGO)with P-Mgd and *** Od enlarges interlayer spacing,accelerates Mg^(2+)migration kinetics,and prevents structural collapse,while the P-Mgd stabilizes the lamellar structure and increases electronic ***,the MVOH/rGO cathode exhibits a high capacity of 197 mAh g^(−1),and the developed Mg foil//MVOH/rGO full cell demonstrates an incredible lifespan of 850 cycles at 0.1 A g^(−1),capable of powering a light-emitting *** proposed dual-defect engineering strategy provides new insights into developing high-durability,high-capacity cathodes,advancing the practical application of RMMBs,and other new secondary batteries.

Mineral carbonation is a promising CO2 sequestration strategy that can utilize industrial wastes to convert CO2 into high-value CaCO3. This review summarizes the advancements in CO2 mineralization using typical industrial wastes to prepare ultrafine CaCO3. This work surveys the mechanisms of CO2 mineralization using these wastes and its capacities to synthesize CaCO3, evaluates the effects of carbonation pathways and operating parameters on the preparation of CaCO3, analyzes the current industrial application status and economics of this technology. Due to the large amount of impurities in solid wastes, the purity of CaCO3 prepared by indirect methods is greater than that prepared by direct methods. Crystalline CaCO3 includes three polymorphs. The polymorph of CaCO3 synthesized by carbonation process is determined the combined effects of various factors. These parameters essentially impact the nucleation and growth of CaCO3 by altering the CO2 supersaturation in the reaction system and the surface energy of CaCO3 grains. Increasing the initial pH of the solution and the CO2 flow rate favors the formation of vaterite, but calcite is formed under excessively high pH. Vaterite formation is favored at lower temperatures and residence time. With increased temperature and prolonged residence time, it passes through aragonite metastable phase and eventually transforms into calcite. Moreover, polymorph modifiers can decrease the surface energy of CaCO3 grains, facilitating the synthesis of vaterite. However, the large-scale application of this technology still faces many problems, including high costs, high energy consumption, low calcium leaching rate, low carbonation efficiency, and low product yield. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate ways to accelerate carbonation, optimize operating parameters, develop cost-effective agents, and understand the kinetics of CaCO3 nucleation and crystallization to obtain products with specific crystal forms.
