The brown seaweed,Sacchairna japonica,has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over one thousand *** administration of fucoidan or low molecular weight fucoidan(LMWF)from *** could ameliorate kidney dysfunction in chronic kidney diseases and inhibit diabetic vascular *** many studies,LMWF was found to be more potent than fucoidan with high molecular ***,the pharmacokinetics of LMWF still remains *** purpose of the research is to compare the pharmacokinetics of fucoidan with high molecular weight(136 kDa)with that low molecular weight(9.5 kDa)after oral administration to ICR *** fucose is the main and representative monosaccharide of fucoidans,we evaluate the pharmacokinetics of fucoidan and LMWF by determining the fucose concentration in mice *** fucoidan and LMWF were absorbed following oral *** and LMWF were provided to mice by oral administration with 60 mg/kg and the maximum Concentration(C_(max))was found at 2.5 h(0.66±0.32 mg/L)for Fucoidan and 1.5 h(1.01±0.56 mg/L)for LMWF,*** seems that LMWF had a higher area under the curve(AUC_(0–t))and was absorbed more quickly than *** estimated bioavailability of LMWF was28.3%in the mice treated with a single dose of 30 mg/*** addition,LMWF was found widely spreaded into different tissues following oral administration and the highest concentration was found in kidney at 19.93±7.02μg/*** this study,we first studied the pharmacokinetics of LMWF,in order to help to understand the function of *** our results shed light on the potential of development of drugs based on LMWF.

Although stem cell-based therapy has demonstrated considerable potential to manage certain diseases more successfully than conventional surgery,it nevertheless comes with inescapable drawbacks that might limit its clinical *** to stem cells,stem cell-derived exosomes possess numerous advantages,such as non-immunogenicity,non-infusion toxicity,easy access,effortless preservation,and freedom from tumorigenic potential and ethical *** can inherit similar therapeutic effects from their parental cells such as embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells through vertical delivery of their pluripotency or *** a thorough search and meticulous dissection of relevant literature from the last five years,we present this comprehensive,up-to-date,specialty-specific and disease-oriented review to highlight the surgical application and potential of stem cell-derived *** derived from stem cells(e.g.,embryonic,induced pluripotent,hematopoietic,mesenchymal,neural,and endothelial stem cells)are capable of treating numerous diseases encountered in orthopedic surgery,neurosurgery,plastic surgery,general surgery,cardiothoracic surgery,urology,head and neck surgery,ophthalmology,and obstetrics and *** diverse therapeutic effects of stem cells-derived exosomes are a hierarchical translation through tissue-specific responses,and cell-specific molecular signaling *** this review,we highlight stem cell-derived exosomes as a viable and potent alternative to stem cell-based therapy in managing various surgical *** recommend that future research combines wisdoms from surgeons,nanomedicine practitioners,and stem cell researchers in this relevant and intriguing research area.

Therapeutic cancer vaccines have undergone a resurgence in the past *** of the high level of immune cell accumulation and abundant capillary lymphatic system in the dermis,percutaneous vaccination is considered to be an ideal treatment *** convenient administration,the recent development of microneedles(MNs)provides a safe,painless,and low-cost transdermal delivery strategy,which could bypass the first-pass metabolism of vaccines for enhanced stability and ***,the therapeutic effect of MNs-based cancer vaccines is not optimal,which is limited by the complex set of host,tumor,and environmental factors,as well as the limited vaccine loading ***,further improvements are still required to push their clinical *** this critical review,we deliberate on how to improve the therapeutic effect of MNs-based vaccines for cancer immunotherapy,summarize the recent advances in MNs-based cancer vaccination,and provide an overview of various design strategies and mechanisms for active or passive targeting delivery,aiming to develop safer,more effective,and more stable MNs-based cancer ***,we briefly describe the potential of vaccine platforms in combination with other therapies,suggest the need to design vaccines according to specific circumstances,and discuss the biosafety of repeated administration for enhancing clinical efficacy.

Radiation build-up and dissipation in Raman random fiber laser

Raman random fiber laser(RRFL) is a complex physical system that arises from the distributed Raman amplification and the intrinsic stochasticity of fiber *** analysis of the underlying lightwave kinetics at steady state has been the focus of considerable ***,the transient state,such as the RRFL build-up and dissipation,is particularly important for revealing the lightwave interaction ***,we investigate for the first time the RRFL dynamics at the transient state and track the RRFL temporal and spectral evolution theoretically and ***,with the contribution of random distributed feedback,RRFL build-up exhibits continuous Verhulst logistic growth curves without cavity-related features,which is significantly different from the step-like growth curve of conventional fiber ***,the radiation build-up duration is inversely related to the pump power,and the spectral evolution of the RRFL undergoes two phases,i.e.,from spectral density increase to spectral *** the steady state to the pump switch-off state,the RRFL output power dissipates immediately,and the remaining Stokes lightwave from the Rayleigh scattering will gradually disappear after one round *** work provides new insights into the transient dynamic features of the RRFL.

Modeling and analysis of gradient metamaterials for broad fusion bandgaps

A gradient metamaterial with varying-stiffness local resonators is proposed to open the multiple bandgaps and further form a broad fusion bandgap. First, three local resonators with linearly increasing stiffness are periodically attached to the spring-mass chain to construct the gradient metamaterial. The dispersion relation is then derived based on Bloch's theorem to reveal the fusion bandgap theoretically. The dynamic characteristic of the finite spring-mass chain is investigated to validate the fusion of multiple bandgaps. Finally, the effects of the design parameters on multiple bandgaps are discussed. The results show that the metamaterial with a non-uniform stiffness gradient pattern is capable of opening a broad fusion bandgap and effectively attenuating the longitudinal waves within a broad frequency region.

Fault detection and diagnosis(FDD)plays a significant role in ensuring the safety and stability of chemical *** the development of artificial intelligence(AI)and big data technologies,data-driven approaches with excellent performance are widely used for FDD in chemical ***,improved predictive accuracy has often been achieved through increased model complexity,which turns models into black-box methods and causes uncertainty regarding their *** this study,a causal temporal graph attention network(CTGAN)is proposed for fault diagnosis of chemical processes.A chemical causal graph is built by causal inference to represent the propagation path of *** attention mechanism and chemical causal graph were combined to help us notice the key variables relating to fault *** in the Tennessee Eastman(TE)process and the green ammonia(GA)process showed that CTGAN achieved high performance and good explainability.

Removal of pathogenic indicator microorganisms during partial nitrification:the role of free nitrous acid

Digested wastewater contains pathogenic microorganisms and high ammonia concentrations,which can pose a potential risk to public *** removal of pathogens and nitrogen is crucial for the post-treatment of digested *** nitrification-anammox is an energy-saving nitrogen removal *** nitrous acid(FNA),an intermediate product of partial nitrification,has the potential to inactivate ***,the efficiency and mechanisms of FNA-related inactivation in pathogens during partial nitrification remains *** this study,Enterococcus and Escherichia coli(***)were selected to investigate the efficiency and mechanisms of FNA-related inactivation in partial nitrification *** results revealed that 83%±13%and 59%±27%of *** and Enterococcus were removed,respectively,in partial nitrification process at FNA concentrations of 0.023−0.028 mg/*** the concentration of FNA increased from 0 to 0.5 mg/L,the inactivation efficiencies of *** and Enterococcus increased from 0 to 99.9%and 89.9%,*** exhibited a higher resistance to FNA attack compared to ***.3D-laser scanning microscopy(3D-LSM)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)revealed that FNA exposure caused the surface collapse of *** and Enterococcus,as well as visible pore formation on the surface of *** cells.4',6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole dihydrochloride n-hydrate(DAPI)/propidium iodide(PI)and biomolecule leakage confirmed that inactivation of *** and Enterococcus occurred due to breakdown of cell walls and cell *** findings indicate that partial nitrification process can be used for the removal of residual pathogenic microorganisms.

Spatiotemporal Distributions of Bacterioplankton Communities in the Qiantang River(Hangzhou Section),China

The spatial and temporal distribution of bacterioplankton communities plays a vital role in understanding the ecological dynamics and health of aquatic *** this study,we conducted a comprehensive investigation of the bacterioplankton communities in the Qiantang River(Hangzhou section).Water samples were collected quarterly from seven sites over a one-year *** and chemical parameters,including dissolved oxygen(DO),water temperature(WT),chemical oxygen demand(COD),nitrite(NO_(2)^(-)),active phosphate(PO_(4)^(3-))and other indices were *** this study,theαdiversity,βdiversity and abundance differences of bacterial communities were investigated using 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing *** spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and main driving factors of the bacterioplankton community structure and diversity were *** results showed that a total of 57 phyla were detected in the bacterioplankton community,among which Proteobacteria and Actinomycetes were the two dominant groups with the highest relative *** results of PCoA based on Bray-Curtis distance showed that the sampling season had a slightly greater effect on the changes in bacterioplankton community structure in the Qiantang *** and partial Mantel test showed that environmental variables(Mantel r=0.6739,Ptant than geographical distance(Mantel r=0.5322,Ptance attenuation model showed that there was significant distance attenuation in all four seasons,and the maximum limit of bacterial community diffusion was found in *** analysis showed that nine environmental factors,including COD,WT and DO,significantly affected community distribution(Ptang R
