Evolution of pore structure in organic shale with typeⅢkerogen and high kaolinite content in Ningwu Basin

Special deposition environment makes organic-rich shales in Ningwu Basin have typeⅢkerogen and high kaolinite content,which are also famous as the kaolinite *** specific composition of shale in Ningwu Basin can change the pore structure and thus,influence the shale gas storage and *** study focuses on the pore structure and its evolution in shales with typeⅢkerogen and high kaolinite *** this study,14 Upper Paleozoic shale samples,whose total organic matter contents(TOC)range from 0.39%to 5.91%and maturities(represented by vitrinite reflectance)range from 1.22%to 2.06%,were *** electron microscopy(SEM),high-pressure mercury injection,and low-tempera-ture N2 adsorption experiments were used to analyze pore structure of these shale *** show that when the TOC content is smaller than 1.4%,the kaolinite content decreases linearly and quartz content increases linearly with increasing the TOC *** contrast,when TOC content is>1.4%,the clay content tends to increase with increasing *** on the SEM images,organic pores and clay pores were identified in shale samples with typeⅢkerogen and high kaolinite *** the maturation process,the kaolinite content decreases and illite content increases with increasing the vitrinite *** the same time,the pore volume and pore surface area both increase with increasing the vitrinite reflectance,and it may be because more organic pores and clay pores in the illite were generated during the maturation *** study can provide further understandings of shale gas accumulation in shale with typeⅢkerogen and high kaolinite content.

The explosion of digital healthcare data has led to a surge of data-driven medical research based on machine learning. In recent years, as a powerful technique for big data, deep learning has gained a central position in machine learning circles for its great advantages in feature representation and pattern recognition. This article presents a comprehensive overview of studies that employ deep learning methods to deal with clinical data. Firstly,based on the analysis of the characteristics of clinical data, various types of clinical data(e.g., medical images,clinical notes, lab results, vital signs, and demographic informatics) are discussed and details provided of some public clinical datasets. Secondly, a brief review of common deep learning models and their characteristics is conducted. Then, considering the wide range of clinical research and the diversity of data types, several deep learning applications for clinical data are illustrated: auxiliary diagnosis, prognosis, early warning, and other *** there are challenges involved in applying deep learning techniques to clinical data, it is still worthwhile to look forward to a promising future for deep learning applications in clinical big data in the direction of precision medicine.

Although nanotechnology has been rapidly developed and applied in tumor targeting, the outcome of chemotherapy remains greatly restricted by the toxicity of cytotoxic drugs in normal tissues and cells. Therefore, the development of alternative delivery systems, with few side effects in normal cells, has attracted increasing attention. Energy restriction is a novel and promising approach to cancer treatment, which can restrict tumor growth via inhibition of cellular energy metabolism. In this study, a novel tumor targeting system, based on folate-conjugated bovine serum albumin （BSA）, was developed to co-deliver albendazole and nanosilver simultaneously, to restrain the energy metabolism of tumor cells. This nanosystem showed stronger anti-tumor efficacy than those using nanoparticles without folic acid modification, nanosilver, or albendazole, both in vitro and in vivo. This nanosystem depleted cellular ATP via direct inhibition of glycolytic enzymes and mitochondrial damage, resulting in inhibition of proliferation, cell-cycle arrest, and apoptosis of tumor cells. The enhanced anti-tumor activity contributed to the tumor-targeting ability of this system, resulting in specific energy inhibition in tumor cells. Toxicity evaluation was performed to confirm the safety of this system. This nanosystem provides an efficient and safe strate~ for tumor therapy.

High-sum-rate beamformers for multi-pair two-way relay networks with amplify-and-forward relaying strategy

In multi-pair two-way relay networks,the control over inter-pair-interference is a challenging *** mobile stations(MSs)cooperate fully,to achieve the sum capacity of networks and at the same time completely remove the inter-pair-interference,a singular value decomposition(SVD)based beamforming scheme at relay station(RS)is established where SVD beamformers are applied over both uplink and downlink channels,*** avoid any cooperation among users,an efcient beamforming scheme is *** scheme uses the Max-SINR based receive beamformer at RS in uplink channel and the Max-SLNR based transmit precoder at RS in downlink *** omits interference(uplink)and leakage(donwlink)inside each pair of users due to their abilities of self-interference *** beamforming scheme provides an analytical solution like some well-known linear beamformers such as zero-forcing,block diagonalization,*** simulation,we find:the proposed SVD shows an excellent sum-rate performance at the expense of a large cooperation overhead at MSs and can be used as a tighter upper bound of sum-rate;the proposed scheme of Max-SINR beamformer plus Max-SLNR precoder performs much better on sum-rate than the ZF-based and the BD-based schemes by using almost the same computational amount.

A Novel Method of Gene Regulatory Network Structure Inference from Gene Knock-Out Expression Data

Inferring Gene Regulatory Networks(GRNs) structure from gene expression data has been a challenging problem in systems biology. It is critical to identify complicated regulatory relationships among genes for understanding regulatory mechanisms in cells. Various methods based on information theory have been developed to infer GRNs. However, these methods introduce many redundant regulatory relationships in the network inference process due to external noise in the original data, topology sparseness in the network structure, and non-linear dependency among genes. Especially as the network size increases, the performance of these methods decreases dramatically. In this paper, a novel network structure inference method named Loc-PCA-CMI is proposed that first identifies local overlapped gene clusters, and then infers the local network structure for each cluster by a Path Consistency Algorithm based on Conditional Mutual Information(PCA-CMI). The final structure of the GRN is denoted as dependence among genes by an ensemble of the obtained local network structures. Loc-PCA-CMI was evaluated on DREAM3 knock-out datasets, and its performance was compared to other information theorybased network inference methods including ARACNE, MRNET, PCA-CMI, and PCA-PMI. Experimental results demonstrate our novel method Loc-PCA-CMI outperforms the other four methods in DREAM3 datasets especially in size 50 and 100 networks.

A novel integrated microfluidic chip for on-demand electrostatic droplet charging and sorting

On-demand droplet sorting is extensively applied for the efficient manipulation and genome-wide analysis of individual ***,state-of-the-art microfluidic chips for droplet sorting still suffer from low sorting speeds,sample loss,and labor-intensive preparation ***,we demonstrate the development of a novel microfluidic chip that integrates droplet generation,on-demand electrostatic droplet charging,and high-throughput *** charging electrode is a copper wire buried above the nozzle of the microchannel,and the deflecting electrode is the phosphate buffered saline in the microchannel,which greatly simplifies the structure and fabrication process of the ***,this chip is capable of high-frequency droplet generation and sorting,with a frequency of 11.757 kHz in the drop *** chip completes the selective charging process via electrostatic induction during droplet ***-demand charged microdroplets can arbitrarilymove to specific exit channels in a three-dimensional(3D)-deflected electric field,which can be controlled according to user requirements,and the flux of droplet deflection is thereby significantly ***,a lossless modification strategy is presented to improve the accuracy of droplet deflection or harvest rate from 97.49% to 99.38% by monitoring the frequency of droplet generation in real time and feeding it back to the charging *** chip has great potential for quantitative processing and analysis of single cells for elucidating cell-to-cell variations.

The aqueous zinc ion batteries(AZIBs)are thought as promising competitors for electrochemical energy storage,though their wide application is curbed by the uncontrollable dendrite growth and gas evolution side ***,to stabilize both zinc anodes and water molecules,we developed a modified electrolyte by adding a trace amount of N,N-diethylformanmide(DEF)into the ZnSO_(4)electrolyte for the first time in zinc ion *** effectiveness of DEF is predicted by the comparison of donor number and its preferential adsorption behavior on the zinc anode is further demonstrated by several spectroscopy characterizations,electrochemical methods,and molecular dynamics *** modified electrolyte with 5%*** content can ensure a stable cycling life longer than 3400 h of Zn‖Zn symmetric cells and an ultra-reversible Zn stripping/plating process with a high coulombic efficiency of 99.7%.The Zn‖VO_(2)full cell maintains a capacity retention of 83.5%and a 104 mA h g^(-1)mass capacity after *** work provides insights into the role of interfacial adsorption behavior and the donor number of additive molecules in designing low-content and effective aqueous electrolytes.

Theoretical analysis of pilotless frame synchronization for LDPC code using Gaussian approximation

The pilotless frame synchronization approach and implementations of LDPC code are the crucial issue of LDPC decoder. The Maximum-A-Posteriori probability( MAP) decoder has a perfect frame synchronization error rate( FSER) performance. In this paper,a theoretical derivation of the FSER performance of pilotless frame synchronization for LDPC code is presented. The FSER performance by theoretical analysis coincides well with that by simulation in additive white Gaussian channel and Rician fading channel. So it is estimated the FSER performance of an LDPC code by theoretical analysis can be used instead of the simulations which are much more time-consuming.

Oral insulin delivery has received the most attention in insulin formulations due to its high patient compliance and, more importantly, to its potential to mimic the physiologic insulin secretion seen in non-diabetic individuals. However, oral insulin delivery has two major limitations： the enzymatic barrier that leads to rapid insulin degradation, and the mucosal barrier that limits insulin＇s bioavailability. Several approaches have been actively pursued to circumvent the enzyme barrier, with some of them receiving promising results. Yet, thus far there has been no major success in overcoming the mucosal barrier, which is the main cause in undercutting insulin＇s oral bioavailability. In this review of our group＇s research, an innovative silica-based, mucoadhesive oral insulin formulation with encapsulated-insulin/cell penetrating peptide （CPP） to overcome both enzyme and mucosal barriers is discussed, and the preliminary and convincing results to confirm the plausibility of this oral insulin delivery system are reviewed. In vitro studies demonstrated that the CPPinsulin conjugates could facilitate cellular uptake of insulin while keeping insulin＇s biologic functions intact. It was also confirmed that low molecular weight protamine （LMWP） behaves like a CPP peptide, with a cell translocation potency equivalent to that of the widely studied TAT. The mucoadhesive properties of the produced silica-chitosan composites could be controlled by varying both the pH and composition; the composite consisting of chitosan （25wt-%） and silica （75 wt-%） exhibited the greatest mucoadhesion at gastric pH. Furthermore, drugrelease from the composite network could also be regulated by altering the chitosan content. Overall, the universal applicability of those technologies could lead to development of a generic platform for oral delivery of many other bioactive compounds, especially for peptide or protein drugs which inevitably encounter the poor bioavailability issues.

A highly efficient and selective N-alkylation reaction of 2-amino-4H-chromene-3-carbonitrile derivatives using various alcohols as alkylation agent were developed in the presence of AlCl3 as a catalyst as well as CH3COOH as an additive,in which the cyano group kept inert and the amino group was alkylated in high *** the target products were characterized and determined by infrared(IR),1H NMR,13C NMR,and *** the X-ray structure of product 3ab was obtained.A bimolecular reaction mechanism catalyzed by AlCl3 was proposed under the assistance of CH3COOH.
