Further study of sources of the imported cobalt-blue pigment used on Jingdezhen porcelain from late 13 to early 15 centuries

Based on the conclusion of modern scientific analysis: the cobalt-blue pigment applied on Jingdezhen official porcelain during Yuan Dynasty and prior to Xuande reign of Ming Dynasty (1271―1425) contains high iron and low manganese con- tents, and the cobalt during Xuande and after Xuande periods (after 1426) of Ming Dynasty contains high manganese and low iron contents, in combination with the traditional archaeological method, the related historical textual records were in- vestigated and analyzed, the imported cobalt employed on Jingdezhen official porcelain was studied comprehensively, systematically and logically. In fact, 'Su Ma Li Qing' (Samarra-blue) and 'Su Bo Ni Qing' (Sumatra-blue) are definitely different cobalt ores originated in different places, because of their very similar translitera- tions in Chinese, the confusion has appeared in ancient books for more than 400 years, which considered 'Su Ma Li Qing' and 'Su Bo Ni Qing' as the same co- balt-blue pigment. In this article the mistake was corrected, the possible producing places and the approximate eras of the two pigments imported to China and used at Jingdezhen were also suggested.

Gas-solid fluidized beds have found extensive utilization in frontline manufacturing,in particular as low-velocity *** fluidization status,the bubbling or turbulent flow regime and the transition in between,determine the system performance in practical *** the convoluted hydrodynamics are quantitively evaluated through numerous data-processing methodologies,none of them alone can reflect all the critical information to identify the transition from the bubbling to the turbulent ***,this study was to exploit a coupling data processing methodology,in the combination of standard deviation,power spectrum density,probability density function,wavelet transform,and wavelet multiresolution method,to jointly explain the micro-flow structure at the regime transition from bubbling to turbulent *** transient differential pressure fluctuation was measured for the evaluation in a fluidized bed(0.267 m i.d.×2.5 m height)with FCC catalysts(d_(p)=65μm,ρ_(p)=1780kg/m^(3))at different superficial gas velocities(0.02–1.4 m/s).The results show that the onset of turbulent fluidization starts earlier in the top section of the bed than in the bottom *** wavelet decomposition displays that the fluctuation of differential pressure mainly concentrates on the sub-signals with an intermediate frequency *** sub-signals could be synthesized into three types of scales(micro-scale,meso-scale,and macro-scale),representing the multi-scale hydrodynamics in the fluidized *** micro-scale signal has the characteristic information of bubbling fluidization,and the characteristic information of turbulent fluidization is mainly represented by the meso-scale *** work provides a systematic comprehension of fluidization status assessment and serves as an impetus for more coupling analysis in this sector.

As one of the most effective measures to extract useful information from medical database and provide scientific decision-making for diagnosis and treatment of diseases, medical data mining has become an increasingly hot topic in the last few years. Some of the intrinsic characteristics of medical databases, such as the huge volume and imbalanced samples as well as stringent performance standards, make this mining process particularly challenging. By elaborating various challenges existing in Task 1 of KDD Cup 2008 competition, this paper analyzes some potential solutions to these problems and presents a modified boosted tree as the final classification model. This model ranked the fourth among all the solutions to Task 1. We hope that our analysis and solutions to these challenges would contribute to the development of medical data mining applications.

Regioregular poly(3-hexylthio)thiopene(P3HTT) has emerged tremendous potential in organic electronic applications due to the strong noncovalent interactions from the sulfur atom linked to thiophene. However, P3HTT generally exhibits low charge mobility mostly due to poor solution processability attributed to dense arrangement of hexylthio side chain in polymer, which led to strong noncovalent interactions among sulfur atoms. To balance the nonvalent interaction and aggregation for P3HTT, herein, we systematically study the effect of hexylthio side chain content in polymer backbone on the structure and properties. A series of regioregular P3HTT-based homopolymers(P3HTT, P3HTT-50,P3HTT-33 and P3HTT-25) were prepared via Kumada catalyst transfer polycondensation method from a set of mono-, bi-, ter-and quarterthiophenes containing different contents of hexylthio side chain. The DFT calculation shows the planarity of polymers backbone could be improved through reducing the density of hexylthio side chain in polymer mainchain. And significant changes in their crystallinity, aggregation and optical properties were observed with the content of hexylthio side chain reducing. The P3HTT-33 displayed the highest field-effect transistor hole mobility of 2.83×10^(-2) cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1) resulting from a balance between the crystallinity and planarity. This study demonstrates modulating the content of hexylthio side chain in P3HTT is an effective strategy to optimize the opto-electronic properties of polymer obtaining excellent semiconductor device performance.

The edge detection of a multispectral image with a mass of image information is theoretically expected to give a more accurate *** algebra is more suitable for processing multidimensional data and expressing the data association than general ***,the basic properties of Clifford algebra are ***,the Clifford algebra description of a multispectral image is ***,a novel multispectral image edge detection algorithm is proposed in terms of the Clifford *** the first two experiments,comparison of the detail achieved by the new algorithm with that from the maximal entropy edge detection algorithm reveals that the edge detection based on Clifford gradient is better at retaining and identifying edge information of the multispectral image than the maximal entropy edge detection *** experiments using tuberculosis CT image show that the new algorithm has clinical value in reducing risk of misdiagnosis.

Utilizing both borehole and Cone Penetration Testing(CPT)data in soil stratification helps to get more convincing soil stratification ***,the soil classification results revealed by borehole(Unified Soil Classification System,USCS)and CPT tests(soil behavior type,SBT)are commonly not *** study proposes a feasible solution to integrate the borehole and CPT data with the tree-based *** tree-based method is naturally suitable for soil stratification tasks as it aims to divide the subsurface space into several clusters based on the similarities of the soil types.A novel boundary dic-tionary method is proposed to enhance the model performance on complex soil layer conditions.A prob-abilistic mapping matrix between the USCS-SBT system is built based on a collected municipal database with collocated borehole and CPT *** optimal soil stratification results can be selected based on considering multiple borehole information and pruning the structure of *** structure of the trees can be optimized in a back analysis perspective with the Sequential Model-Based Global Optimization(SMBO)algorithm which aims to maximize the possibility of observing the borehole information based on the USCS-SBT probabilistic mapping *** uncertainties of the optimal soil stratification results can be estimated based on a weighted Gini index *** performance of the proposed method is validated based on a real case in New Zealand with a cross-validation *** results indicate that the proposed method is robust and effective.
