Objective To investigate into the changes of dietary patterns and their impacts on health of urban and rural residents in jiangsu province, china during the 1990s. Methods On the basis of the results of food consumption survey, the calorie intake was calculated according to the balanced diet method and the quality of diet was assessed by scores of desirable dietary pattern (DDP). Results It was found that food consumption and dietary patterns changed remarkably during the 1990s. Grain consumption was decreasing year by year, but the consumption of animal food was markedly increasing. Although the score of desirable dietary pattern (DDP) in urban residents was more than 90, the deducted score due to over-consumption of animal food increased. The mortality from infectious diseases evidently decreased in the whole province, while the death rates of some chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, colorectal cancer and breast cancer, were increasing rapidly in urban areas. Conclusions Sufficient attention should be paid to the negative effects of change in dietary patterns on people's health, especially in the urban residents.

A Study on the Kunyang Aulacogen

The Kunyang Aulacogen is a continental rift which initiated at the beginning of the Middle Proterozoic. Itwas generated on the rigid continental crust represented by the crystalline Kangding Complex, and is boundedby two N-S-trending deep faults--Anninghe-Luzhijiang Fault and Xiaojiang Fault. Its early stage of rupturewas characterized by alkalinc mafic igneous activities in the Dahongshan Group and Hekou Group. Duringthe later tensile-depression stage the aulacogen evolved into a graben where scdimentation of the KunyangGroup took place. The sedimentary sequence comprises terrestrial red beds, algal dolomite, marine black shaleand carbonate rocks which are quite typical of rift sedimentary association, and contains stratabound copperdeposits of the well-known Dongchuan type.

Analysis of the co-seismic responses of the fluid well pattern system in jiangsu province to the Wenchuan and Tohoku earthquakes

This thesis discusses the earthquake reflecting ability of the observation well pattern system of jiangsu province, china, which has been digitally renovated, and probes into the cause of the major differences in the earthquake reflecting abilities of well holes at different measurement points. This is achieved through the analysis of the co-seismic responses to the Wenchuan (2008; Ms8.0, china) and Tohoku (2011; Ms9.0, Japan) earthquakes. We found that the co-seismic response of water level from regional well holes in jiangsu province was stronger than that of water temperature. The water-level co-seismic response follows a consistent law and is closely related to the earthquake magnitude. The co-seismic response of water temperature strongly varied among well points, and was more often manifested as a slow restorative change. The co-seismic responses also varied based on tectonic elements. The response in central and northern jiangsu was weaker than that of southern jiangsu, possibly due to the thicker loess cover layer in central jiangsu which makes it less effective at capturing the micro-changes of stress-strain states relative to the hilly land in the south. The more complicated geological structure in southern jiangsu makes it contribute to greater changes in the state of underground water after a minor disturbance.

BACKGROUND: There are many methods for myelin staining, mordant, or oil-soluble dye or the special reaction of osmic acid with lipoid is used according to different principles. The commonly used methods are classic Well staining, classic lithium carbonate-haematine staining, fast green staining, silver staining, etc. Luxol Fast Blue can brightly stain myelin sheath, and has certain specificity. The background can be very clean if there is proper differentiation, whereas Luxol Fast Blue is cheap and convenient to operate, thus it is an ideal staining reagent for routine myelin sheath. OBJECTIVE: To show the corticospinal tract of normal adult rats with Luxol Fast Blue staining method. DESIGN: A repetitive measurement design. SETTINGS: Institute of Nuerobiology, Nantong University; Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University. MATERIALS: Six healthy adult male SD rats of clean degree, weighing averagely 300 g, were provided by the experimental animal center of Nantong University. 1 g/L Luxol Fast Blue solution was provided by Sigma Company; Leica CM1900 cryostat microtome by Leica Company; Leica DMR microscope by Leica Company. METHODS: The experiment was carried out in the Staff Room of Human Anatomy, Nantong University in May 2005. The rats were given intraperitoneal injection of combined anesthetic (2 mL/kg), then the chest was open for perfusing saline and phosphate buffer containing formamint via heart. Brain and spinal cord were removed after 1 hour then fixed, then changed to phosphate buffer (pH 7.4) containing 300 g/L saccharu at 4 ℃, and stayed overnight, tissue blocks at pyramid, decussation of pyramid and cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral segments of spinal cord were removed to prepare continuous horizontal frozen sections (30 μm) after sedimentation, the sections were dried at room temperature. The corticospinal tract of normal adult rats were shown with Luxol Fast Blue staining method, and observed under Leica DMR

AIM: To analyze the correlation between cytokineinduced killer (CIK) cells adoptive immunotherapy and cancer-related death in gastric cancer patients. METHODS: One hundred and fifty-six gastric cancer patients after operation at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University were enrolled in this study. Their clinical data including demographic characteristics, operation time, tumor size, pathological type and staging, tumor metastasis, outcome of chemotherapy or CIK cells adoptive immunotherapy, survival time or time of death were collected with a standard structured questionnaire. Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate the median survival time, and the 2- and 5- year survival rates. Hazard risk (HR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) of CIK cells adoptive immunotherapy for gastric cancer were calculated using the two-stage time-dependent covariates Cox model. RESULTS: The survival time of gastric cancer patients was longer after CIK cells adoptive immunotherapy than after chemotherapy (χ 2 = 10.907, P = 0.001). The median survival time of gastric cancer patients was also longer after CIK cells adoptive immunotherapy than after chemotherapy (49 mo vs 27 mo, P < 0.05). The 2- and 5-year survival rates of gastric cancer patients were significantly higher after CIK cells adoptive immunotherapy than after chemotherapy (73.5% vs 52.6%, 40.4% vs 23.9%, P < 0.05). A significant difference was observed in the survival curve for patients who received CIK cells adoptive immunotherapy (0, 1-10, 11-25, and over 25 frequencies) (χ 2 = 14.534, P = 0.002). The frequencies of CIK cells adoptive immunotherapy were significantly related with the decreasing risk of death in gastric cancer patients after adjustment for sex and age of the patients, tumor stage and relapse (HR = 0.54, 95% CI: 0.36-0.80) when the first stage Cox model was used to define the subjects who remained alive beyond 36 mo as survivors. Equilibrium equations for nonlinear buckling analysis of drill-strings in 3D curved well-bores

With the development of drilling technology, the oil/gas well has evolved from its early vertical straight form to the inclined, horizontal, plane curved, or even 3D curved well-bore. Understanding of the buck- ling behavior of a drill-string in a well-bore is crucial for the success of a drilling operation. Therefore, equilibrium equations for analyzing the buckling behavior of a drill-string in a 3D curved well-bore are required. Based on Love’s equilibrium equations for a curved and twisted rod in space, a set of equi- librium equations for the nonlinear buckling analysis of a drill-string in a 3D curved well-bore are de- rived by introducing a radial constraint of the well-bore. The proposed formulae can account for the well curvature and tortuosity. Thus, it can be used to analyze the buckling behaviors of a drill-string constrained in a well-bore and subjected to axial compression, torsion at its upper end, and gravity simultaneously. It is worth noting that the existing equations in the literature for a drill-string in a straight and plane curved well-bore with a constant curvature are a special case of the proposed model. Thus, the present model can provide a theoretical basis for the nonlinear buckling analysis of a drill-string constrained in a 3D curved well-bore.
