Typhoon-Induced Ocean Waves and Stokes Drift:A Case Study of Typhoon Mangkhut(2018)

Ocean waves and Stokes drift are generated by *** study investigated the characteristics of ocean waves and wave-induced Stokes drift and their effects during Typhoon Mangkhut using European Centre for MediumRange Weather Forecasts(ECMWF)ERA5 datasets and observational *** results revealed that the typhoon generated intense cyclones and huge typhoon waves with a maximum wind speed of 45 m/s,a minimum pressure of955 h Pa,and a maximum significant wave height of 12 *** Stokes drift caused by typhoon waves exceeded 0.6m/s,the Stokes depth scale exceeded 18 m,and the maximum Stokes transport reached 6 m^(2)/*** spatial distribution of 10-m wind speed,typhoon wave height,Stokes drift,Stokes depth,and Stokes transport during the typhoon was highly correlated with the typhoon *** distribution along the typhoon track showed significant zonal asymmetry,with greater intensity on the right side of the typhoon track than on the left *** findings provide important insights into the impact of typhoons on ocean waves and Stokes drift,thus improving our understanding of the interactions between typhoons and the ocean *** study also investigated the contribution of Stokes transport to the total net transport during typhoons using Ekman-Stokes Numbers as a comparative *** results indicated that the ratio of Stokes transport to the total net transport reached up to 50%within the typhoon radius,while it was approximately 30%outside the *** Stokes transport induced by typhoon waves led to divergence in the transport direction,which resulted in upwelling of the lower ocean as a compensation ***,Stokes transport played a crucial role in the vertical mixing of the ocean during *** findings suggested that Stokes transport should be paid more attention to,particularly in high latitude ocean regions,where strong winds can amplify its effects.

Recent advances on thermosensitive hydrogels-mediated precision therapy

Precision therapy has become the preferred choice attributed to the optimal drug concentration in target sites, increased therapeutic efficacy, and reduced adverse *** the past few years, sprayable or injectable thermosensitive hydrogels have exhibited high therapeutic potential. These can be applied as cell-growing scaffolds or drug-releasing reservoirs by simply mixing in a free-flowing sol phase at room temperature. Inspired by their unique properties, thermosensitive hydrogels have been widely applied as drug delivery and treatment platforms for precision medicine. In this review, the state-of-theart developments in thermosensitive hydrogels for precision therapy are investigated,which covers from the thermo-gelling mechanisms and main components to biomedical applications, including wound healing, anti-tumor activity, osteogenesis, and periodontal,sinonasal and ophthalmic diseases. The most promising applications and trends of thermosensitive hydrogels for precision therapy are also discussed in light of their unique features.

Universal synthesis of metallophthalocyanine covalent organic frameworks as ultra-sensitive multifaceted electrochemical sensor

The universal synthesis of highly stable covalent organic frameworks(COFs)for ultra-sensitive and multi-component electrochemical detection in different scenarios remains a great ***,a series of metallophthalocyanine-based twodimensional(2D)dioxin(DXI)-linked metalophthalocyanine(MPc)-n DXI-COFs(M=Ni,Zn;n=1,2)are afforded in high yield(80%-96%)by a facile trace-quinoline assisted one-pot condensation of tetracarbonitrile *** X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy investigations disclose their lamellar texture 2D network with AA stacking *** and calculation results elucidate that the 2DXI-linked MPc-2DXI-COFs provide the stronger built-in electronic field and more electrostatic/hydrogen bonding adsorption sites than DXI-linked MPc-DXI-COFs,and the lower electrode reaction Gibbs free energy and stronger adsorption of analytes at Ni Pc than Zn Pc unit,which grants Ni Pc-2DXI-COF excellent sensing properties for various analytes including neurotransmitters,organic pollutants,and heavy metal ions,with high sensitivity and low detection limit of 0.53 to 25.66 *** in binary and ternary systems and even in real-world conditions,simultaneous multi-component detection could be achieved.

AHFO-based soil water content sensing technology considering soil-sensor thermal contact resistance

β-Receptor blocker enhances the anabolic effect of PTH after osteoporotic fracture

The autonomic nervous system plays a crucial role in regulating bone metabolism,with sympathetic activation stimulating bone resorption and inhibiting bone *** found that fractures lead to increased sympathetic tone,enhanced osteoclast resorption,decreased osteoblast formation,and thus hastened systemic bone loss in ovariectomized(OVX)***,the combined administration of parathyroid hormone(PTH)and theβ-receptor blocker propranolol dramatically promoted systemic bone formation and osteoporotic fracture healing in OVX *** effect of this treatment is superior to that of treatment with PTH or propranolol *** vitro,the sympathetic neurotransmitter norepinephrine(NE)suppressed PTH-induced osteoblast differentiation and mineralization,which was rescued by ***,NE decreased the PTH-induced expression of Runx2 but enhanced the expression of Rankl and the effect of PTH-stimulated osteoblasts on osteoclastic differentiation,whereas these effects were reversed by ***,PTH increased the expression of the circadian clock gene Bmal1,which was inhibited by NE-βAR ***1 knockdown blocked the rescue effect of propranolol on the NE-induced decrease in PTHstimulated osteoblast *** together,these results suggest that propranolol enhances the anabolic effect of PTH in preventing systemic bone loss following osteoporotic fracture by blocking the negative effects of sympathetic signaling on PTH anabolism.

Atropine can induce autophagy independent of the M3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor

Background: No other effects of atropine other than as an antagonist of muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR) have been found. Methods: In this study, human kidneyepithelial cells were treated with different physiological regulators. Results: Subsequently, it was found that atropine could significantly induce autophagy as demonstrated by the appearance of autophagosome-like double- or single-membrane vesicles in the cytoplasm ofhost cells and the number of GFP-LC3 dots. In addition, increased conversion of the autophagy marker protein LC3-I and LC3-II and increased p62/SQSTM1 indicatedincomplete autophagy. In addition, atropine induced autophagosome levels in a dose-dependent manner within a certain concentration range in human kidney epithelial cells. In atropine-treated mouse skeletal muscle cells containing nicotinic acetylcholinereceptors and rat cardiac muscle cells containing mAchR, atropine induced autophagy in mouse skeletal muscle cells but not in rat cardiac muscle cells. Furthermore, atropine did not induce autophagy in tissue cells containing mAchR in vivo but did in tissue cells not containing mAchR. Conclusion: This study expands the application and understanding of atropine’s action mechanism in the field of medicine.

Non-electrocardiography-gated dual-energy cardiac CT angiography for assessment of left atrial appendage thrombus

Objective:To explore the diagnosis value of a low dose,dual-energy cardiac computed tomography angiography(CTA)with non-electrocardiography-gated(non-ECG-gated)in detecting left atrial appendage(IAA)***:Consecutive patients with atrial fibrillation who underwent cardiac CTA protocol(dual-energy scan for arterial phase and conventional scan for delayed phase)were prospectively *** lesions were proved by clinical comprehensive diagnosis,the final study included 18 cases with LAA thrombus and 48 cases with circulatory *** parameters derived from dual-energy images were measured for the LAA lesions,including the conventional CT attenuation value(CT value),iodine concentration(IC),normalized iodine concentration(NIC),effective atomic number values(Zeff)and energy spectrum curve slope(Slope).The differences between LAA thrombus group and circulatory stasis group were compared by independent sample t-test or Wilcoxon rank sum test regarding to the normality *** diagnosis performance of the dual-energy parameters was assessed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis and area under curve(AUC).Results:All the dual-energy parameters were demonstrated significantly difference between LAA thrombus and circulatory stasis group(P<0.05),and showed better diagnostic performance than the conventional CT *** analysis revealed IC was the most predictive parameter with AUC equal to *** radiation dose in the arterial phase was(2.640.66)***:Dual-energy CTA scanning shows convincing diagnostic performance in detecting left atrial appendage thrombus with lower radiation dose,and may help reduce the need for delayed phase scan.

MOF-derived 1D CGO Cathode for Efficient Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells

Solid oxide electrolysis cells(SOECs)provide a promising way for converting renewable energy into chemical ***,NiO/CGO(nickel-gadolinium doped ceria)cermet has shown its excellent properties in ionic and electronic conductivity under reducing ***,we developed a novel 1D NiO/CGO cathode through a cerium metal-organic framework(MOF)derived *** cathode’s 1D nanostructure integrated with a microchannel scaffold facilitates enhanced mass transport,providing vertically aligned pathways for CO_(2)and H_(2)O ***,the 1D framework increases the number of interfacial sites and reduces ion diffusion distances,thereby simplifying electron/ion ***,this advanced cathode achieved a significant breakthrough in SOEC performance,maintaining efficient CO_(2)and H_(2)O electrolysis at an extraordinary current density of 1.41 A/cm^(2)at 1.5 V and excellent stability over 24 h at 850℃.The enhanced performance of this newly developed cathode not only achieves a remarkable 100%improvement compared to those of NiO/CGO cathodes with varying geometrical configurations but also surpasses those of commercial NiO/CGO catalysts by an outstanding 40%when tested under identical *** development of the 1D NiO/CGO enhances the efficiency and durability of ceramic cathodes for CO_(2)and H_(2)O co-electrolysis in SOECs and improves the scalability and effectiveness of SOECs in renewable energy applications.

The damage characteristics of different speed sections of Cu−Cr−Zr alloy rail after simulated launch were *** microstructure,morphologies and properties of samples were investigated by using XRD,XPS,EBSD,SEM,hardness test,electrochemical test and DSC *** was found that deposition layers were formed on the surfaces of the simulated launch *** thickness and surface roughness of these deposition layers increased with increasing the heat effect,suggesting a launch speed dependent damage degree of the arc *** hardness variation of samples is attributed to the effects of the deposition layer and deformation *** surface deposition layer affects corrosion resistance and crystalline characteristics,leading to changes in subsequent service ***,the surface texture and plastic deformation ability of the samples are related to the recrystallization degree and deformation grain amount.
