In the past decade, existing and new knowledge and datasets have been encoded in different ontologies for semantic web and biomedical research. The size of ontologies is often very large in terms of number of concepts and relationships, which makes the analysis of ontologies and the represented knowledge graph computational and time consuming. As the ontologies of various semantic web and biomedical applications usually show explicit hierarchical structures, it is interesting to explore the trade-offs between ontological scales and preservation/precision of results when we analyze ontologies. This paper presents the first effort of examining the capability of this idea via studying the relationship between scaling biomedical ontologies at different levels and the semantic similarity values. We evaluate the semantic similarity between three gene ontology slims (plant, yeast, and candida, among which the latter two belong to the same kingdom-fungi) using four popular measures commonly applied to biomedical ontologies (Resnik, Lin, jiang-Conrath, and SimRel). The results of this study demonstrate that with proper selection of scaling levels and similarity measures, we can significantly reduce the size of ontologies without losing substantial detail. In particular, the performances of jiang-Conrath and Lin are more reliable and stable than that of the other two in this experiment, as proven by 1) consistently showing that yeast and candida are more similar (as compared to plant) at different scales, and 2. small deviations of the similarity values after excluding a majority of nodes from several lower scales. This study provides a deeper understanding of the application of semantic similarity to biomedical ontologies, and shed light on how to choose appropriate semantic similarity measures for biomedical engineering. © 2.14 Chinese Association of Automation.

Bioretention is a best management practice which uses vegetation to improve the pollutant removal rates in the rain water *** select the best plant species to remove multiple pollutants in a bioretention system,we tested thirty species of plants in a laboratory in Beijing,*** found that the ability of the plants to reduce concentrations of heavy metals including cadmium(Cd),lead(Pb),zinc(Zn),and ammonium(NH4?–N)is more than90%.The removal efficiencies for NH4?–N,nitrate(NO3.–N),total phosphorus,and copper(Cu)varied markedly among plant *** single overall best plant was not easy to be *** select the best plant species,we used a dynamic neural network to establish an assessment index system,assessment criteria,and an assessment model that is used here for the first time for multiple pollutants’*** the theory and model,we discovered that Plantago asiatica *** Digitaria sanguinalis(L.)*** the overall best plants for removing the seven *** paper will provide a simple and useful guide for the comprehensive assessment of multiple pollutant removal by plants in complex ecological systems.

CODIMENSION-TWO BIFURCATIONS ANALYSIS AND TRACKING CONTROL ON A DISCRETE EPIDEMIC MODEL

In this paper, the dynamic behaviors of a discrete epidemic model with a nonlinear incidence rate obtained by Euler method are discussed, which can exhibit the periodic motions and chaotic behaviors under the suitable system parameter conditions. Codimension-two bifurcations of the discrete epidemic model, associated with 1：1 strong resonance, 1：2.strong resonance, 1：3.strong resonance and 1：4 strong resonance, are analyzed by using the bifurcation theorem and the normal form method of maps. Moreover, in order to eliminate the chaotic behavior of the discrete epidemic model, a tracking controller is designed such that the disease disappears gradually. Finally, numerical simulations are obtained by the phase portraits, the maximum Lyapunov exponents diagrams for two different varying parameters in 3.dimension space, the bifurcation diagrams, the computations of Lyapunov exponents and the dynamic response. They not only illustrate the validity of the proposed results, but also display the interesting and complex dynamical behaviors.

Background Cerebral alveolar echinococcosis （CAE） grows infiltratively like a malignant tumor, causing great harm to the human body. It is possible to display mass lesions of CAE using various imaging systems, but regarding the infiltrating proliferation active regions, it is difficult to evaluate its actual range using conventional magnetic resonance imaging （cMRI）. This research focused on proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy （1HMRS） techniques to find the mass and infiltration zone of CAE. We explored the marginal zone （MZ） of CAE nearly close to the actual infiltrating scope, to provide reliable images for clinical purposes, to overcome shortcomings of cMRI, to formulate beneficial clinical surgical plans and assess prognosis. Methods Between September 2.05 and May 2.11, 15 patients who were suffering from CAE （3. effective lesions altogether） were examined by 1HMRS at the first affiliated hospital of Xin{3. Medical {2.. Multi-voxel 1HMRS was acquired with a 1.5T MRI scanner. Concentrations and the ratios of the metabolites of CAE were calculated. Furthermore, changes in the concentrations of the metabolites containing N-acetyl-aspartic-acid （NAA）, choline （Cho）, creatine （Cr）, lipids and lactate （Lip＋Lac） and the ratios of Cho/Cr, NAA/Cr, （Lip＋Lac）/Cr were compared in the substantial region, 0-10 rnm MZ, and 11-2. mm MZ of the infiltration zone, as well as the corresponding contralateral part of the {3. brain parenchyma area （control group）. Results In this study, the ratios of Cho/Cr in the substantial region, 0-10 mm MZ of infiltration zone and the control group were 1.78＋0.70, 1.90＋_0.54, and 0.78＋_0.15, respectively; the ratios of NAA/Cr were 1.60＋0.2., 1.80＋0.42. 2.2.＋_0.86, respectively; the ratios of （Lip＋Lac）/Cr were 2..69＋_13.84, 2..18＋16.03. and 0.61 ＋0.15, respectively. Effects of different land use types on potential evapotranspiration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, North china

Potential evapotranspiration(ET_0) is vital for hydrologic cycle and water resource assessments as well as crop water requirement and irrigation demand assessments. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region(Jing-Jin-Ji)–an important, large, regional, economic community in china.has experienced tremendous land use and land cover changes because of urbanisation and ecological restoration, affecting the hydrologic cycle and water resources of this region. Therefore, we analysed ET_0 in this region using climate data from 2. meteorological stations for the period 1991–2.15 to understand this effect. Our findings show that ET_0 increased significantly at a rate of 7.40 mm per decade for the region. Based on the major land use type surrounding them, the meteorological stations were classified as urban, farmland, and natural stations using the 2.15 land use dataset. The natural stations in the northern mountainous area showed a significant increase in ET_0, whereas most urban and farmland stations in the plain area showed a decrease in ET_0, with only a few of the stations showing an increase. Based on the different ET_0 trends for different land use types, these stations can be ranked as follows: urban stations(trend value:-4.663.to-1.43.) > natural stations(trend value: 2.58 to 3.3.3. > farmland stations(trend value:-2.92. to-0.2.8). Our results indicate that land use changes affect meteorological parameters, such as wind speed and sunshine duration, which then lead to changes in ET_0. We noted that wind speed was the dominant parameter affecting ET_0 at all the natural stations, and wind speed and sunshine duration were the dominant parameters affecting ET_0 at most of the urban stations. However, the main controlling parameters affecting ET_0 at the farmland stations varied. These results present a scope for understanding land use impact on ET_0, which can then be applied to studies on sustainable land use planning and water resource management.

采用文献资料法、专家访谈法、数理统计法、逻辑分析法等科研方法,对我国青少年网球运动的组织管理和开展现状进行分析。结果发现:我国青少年网球赛事组织管理机构为由国家体育总局主管的体育系统和由教育部主管的教育系统两条战线的机构组成。体教融合背景下我国青少年网球赛事系统融合发展面临的主要困境有:青少年网球赛事体系目标定位存在差异性,“体”“教”赛事体系双轨制之间壁垒难突破,体育系统、教育系统运动员共同参赛限制严格,体育系统、教育系统赛事积分排名系统各自独立。体教融合背景下网球赛事体系融合发展的优化路径为:建立监督部门,落实“体教融合”政策,打破壁垒,统一办赛思想,发挥协会作用,构建“体教融合”背景下青少年游泳赛事体系,统一赛事注册和参赛资格,合理设立赛事组别,构建“双”积分排名系统,综合考量学生参与表现。本研究旨在为我国青少年网球赛事理论研究和实践探索提供参考。

Epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT) is a complex nonlinear biological process that plays essential roles in fundamental biological processes such as embryogenesis, wounding healing, tissue regeneration,and cancer metastasis. A hallmark of EMT is the switch-like behavior during state transition, which is characteristic of phase transitions. Hence, detecting the tipping point just before mesenchymal state transition is critical for understanding molecular mechanism of EMT. Through dynamic network biomarkers(DNB) model, a DNB group with 3. genes was identified which can provide the early-warning signals of EMT. Particularly, we found that two DNB genes, i.e., SMAD7 and SERPINE1 promoted EMT by switching their regulatory network which was further validated by biological experiments. Survival analyses revealed that SMAD7 and SERPINE1 as DNB genes further acted as prognostic biomarkers for lung adenocarcinoma.

The genetic models are greatly important in the analysis of genetic epidemiologic studies and many of the studies are conducted using the trend test under the additive model. However, for many complex diseases and traits, the underlying genetic model for a genetic locus is usually uncertain. So a robust test free of genetic model is appropriate. In this paper, the authors propose a model-embedded trend test by incorporating Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium information and obtain the explicit formula to calculate its statistical significance. Extensive simulation studies show the proposed test is more robust than the existing procedures. Finally, a real application is further analyzed to show the performance of the proposed test.
