The back-streaming white-neutron beamline (Back-n) of the China Spallation Neutron Source is an essential neutron- research platform built for the study of nuclear data, neutron physics, and neutron applications. Many types of cross-sectional neutron-reaction measurements have been performed at Back-n since early 2018. These measurements have shown that a significant number of gamma rays can be transmitted to the experimental stations of Back-n along with the neutron beam. These gamma rays, commonly referred to as in-beam gamma rays, can induce a non-negligible experimental background in neutron-reaction measurements. Studying the characteristics of in-beam gamma rays is important for understanding the experimental background. However, measuring in-beam gamma rays is challenging because most gamma-ray detectors are sensitive to neutrons; thus, discriminating between neutron-induced signals and those from in-beam gamma rays is difficult. In this study, we propose the use of the black resonance filter method and a CeBr3 scintillation detector to measure the characteristics of the in-beam gamma rays of Back-n. Four types of black resonance filters, Ta-181, Co-59, Ag-nat, and Cd-nat, were used in this measurement. The time-of-flight (TOF) technique was used to select the detector signals remaining in the absorption region of the TOF spectra, which were mainly induced by in-beam gamma rays. The energy distribution and flux of the in-beam gamma rays of Back-n were determined by analyzing the deposited energy spectra of the CeBr3 scintillation detector and using Monte Carlo simulations. Based on the results of this study, the background contributions from in-beam gamma rays in neutron-reaction measurements at Back-n can be reasonably evaluated, which is beneficial for enhancing both the experimental methodology and data analysis.

Classifying Chinese Medicine Constitution Using Multimodal Deep-Learning Model

Objective:To develop a multimodal deep-learning model for classifying Chinese medicine constitution,i.e.,the balanced and unbalanced constitutions,based on inspection of tongue and face images,pulse waves from palpation,and health information from a total of 540 ***:This study data consisted of tongue and face images,pulse waves obtained by palpation,and health information,including personal information,life habits,medical history,and current symptoms,from 540 subjects(202 males and 338 females).Convolutional neural networks,recurrent neural networks,and fully connected neural networks were used to extract deep features from the *** fusion and decision fusion models were constructed for the multimodal ***:The optimal models for tongue and face images,pulse waves and health information were ResNet18,Gate Recurrent Unit,and entity embedding,*** fusion was superior to decision *** multimodal analysis revealed that multimodal data compensated for the loss of information from a single mode,resulting in improved classification ***:Multimodal data fusion can supplement single model information and improve classification *** research underscores the effectiveness of multimodal deep learning technology to identify body constitution for modernizing and improving the intelligent application of Chinese medicine.

Formaldehyde is a pollutant that significantly affects the indoor air ***,conventional remediation approaches can be challenging to deal with low-concentration formaldehyde in an indoor *** this study,Photocatalysts of Ag/graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))/Ni with 3D reticulated coral structure were prepared by thermal polymerization and liquid phase photo-deposition,using nickel foam(NF)as the *** demonstrated that when the Ag concentration was 3%,and the relative humidity was 60%,the Ni/Ag/g-C_(3)N_(4)showed the maximum degradation rate of formaldehyde at 90.19%under visible light irradiation,and the formaldehyde concentration after degradation was lower than the Hygienic standard stated by the Chinese *** porous structure of Ni/Ag/g-C_(3)N_(4)and the formation of Schottky junctions promoted the Adsorption efficiency and degradation of formaldehyde,while the nickel foam carrier effectively promoted the desorption of degradation ***,the degradation rate was only reduced by3.4%after 16 recycles,the three-dimensional porous structure extended the lifetime of the *** study provides a new strategy for the degradation of indoor formaldehyde at low concentrations.

Developing luminescent metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) capable of high-efficiency Fe^(3+)sensing has aroused great attraction in the fields of biology,chemistry,***,previous solvothermal methods are limited by organic solvent usage,time consuming,high pressure,and high-energy ***,we propose the waste-toMOF strategy towards the scale-up production of La-MOF nanoparticles through the ball milling of recycled poly(-ethylene terephthalate)(PET) bottles and La(NO_(3))_(3)·_(6)H_(2)*** goes on alkaline hydrolysis to form 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid sodium salt(Na_(2)BDC) and ethylene glycol by ball ***,BDC reacts with La^(3+)to form *** as-prepared La-MOF crystal nanoparticles possess a rod-like morphology with the size of few hundred ***,La-MOF nanoparticles display high selectivity and sensitivity for Fe^(3+)*** quenching constant and limit of detection are 5.29×10^(3)(mol·L^(-1))^(-1) and 0.147 μmol·L^(-1),respectively,thus surpassing many advanced Fe^(3+) *** to the result of density functional theory,the high Fe^(3+) detection performance of La-MOF is related to the complexing of Fe^(3+)with La-MOF,which leads to the gradual dissociation of the coordination bond between terephthalic acid and La^(3+).It is anticipated that the mechanochemistry milling-based wasteto-MOF strategy provides a new platform for the massive production of functional MOFs in a green manner.

Enhanced memristor performance via coupling effect of oxygen vacancy and ferroelectric polarization

As a new type of nonvolatile memory,the resistive memristor has broad application prospects in in-formation storage and neural computing based on its excellent resistive switching(RS)*** present,it is still a great challenge to improve both ferroelectric polarization and leakage current to achieve a high RS on/offratio of ferroelectric ***,epitaxial Pb(Zr_(0.40)Ti_(0.60))O_(3)(PZT)thin films with low content Ca doping were deposited on the Nb:SrTiO_(3)substrate to prepare PCZT/NSTO het-erostructures and their RS behaviors were *** research findings show that compared with pure PZT film,the ferroelectric polarization of 1-mol%-Ca-doped PZT film is slightly improved,while the leak-age current is increased by three orders of ***,the RS on/offratio reaches 2.5×10^(5),about three orders of magnitude higher than pure PZT *** theoretical analysis reveals that the RS behavior of PCZT/NSTO heterostructures is controlled by the PCZT/NSTO interfacial barrier and the space charge-limited current *** results demonstrate that the ferroelectricity and electricity of ferroelectric thin films can be improved simultaneously by doping low-content Ca ions to increase the RS performance,which provides a good reference for the development of high-performance ferroelectric memristor devices.

Aberrant protamination in sperm correlates to anomalous nuclear and cytoplasmic architectures in infertile males with sperm dysmorphology

Herein,Co/CoO heterojunction nanoparticles(NPs)rich in oxygen vacancies embedded in mesoporous walls of nitrogen-doped hollow carbon nanoboxes coupled with nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(P-Co/CoOV@NHCNB@NCNT)are well designed through zeolite-imidazole framework(ZIF-67)carbonization,chemical vapor deposition,and O_(2) plasma *** a result,the threedimensional NHCNBs coupled with NCNTs and unique heterojunction with rich oxygen vacancies reduce the charge transport resistance and accelerate the catalytic reaction rate of the P-Co/CoOV@NHCNB@NCNT,and they display exceedingly good electrocatalytic performance for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR,halfwave potential[EORR,1/2=0.855 V *** hydrogen electrode])and oxygen evolution reaction(OER,overpotential(η_(OER,10)=377mV@10mA cm^(−2)),which exceeds that of the commercial Pt/C+RuO_(2) and most of the formerly reported ***,both the aqueous and flexible foldable all-solid-state rechargeable zinc-air batteries(ZABs)assembled with the P-Co/CoOV@NHCNB@NCNT catalyst reveal a large maximum power density and outstanding long-term cycling ***-principles density functional theory calculations show that the formation of heterojunctions and oxygen vacancies enhances conductivity,reduces reaction energy barriers,and accelerates reaction kinetics *** work opens up a new avenue for the facile construction of highly active,structurally stable,and cost-effective bifunctional catalysts for ZABs.
