Background:Eucommia ulmoides Oliv. is a medicinal plant native to China, with its bark (Eucommiae Cortex) traditionally being used for medicinal purposes. Previous research has shown that Eucommia male flowers can exert anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibacterial, and other pharmacological effects, including immune regulation. This study explored the anti-inflammatory effects of the 70% ethanol extract of male flowers (EF) of E. ulmoides in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells and LPS-administered ***:Cytotoxicity of EF for RAW 264.7 cells was investigated using Cell Counting Kit-8. The production of proinflammatory mediators, nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-6 was determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. IL-17, IL-23, and IL-10 mRNA levels were determined using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Activation of the nuclear factor (NF)-κB pathway in RAW 264.7 cells was investigated via Western blotting. In vivo antiinflammatory effects of EF were studied in an LPS-induced acute inflammation mouse model by analyzing lung tissue histopathology, serum TNF-α and IL-6 levels, and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity in lung ***:EF showed no significant cytotoxicity at concentrations from 10 to 60 μg/mL (cell viability > 80%) in the CCK-8 cell viability assay. EF inhibited the RAW 264.7 cell proliferation (EF 60 μg/mL, 120 μg/mL, and 250 μg/mL vs. negative control: 87.31±2.39% vs. 100.00±2.50%, P=0.001;79.01±2.56 vs. 100.00±2.50%, P<0.001;and 64.83±2.50 vs. 100.00±2.50%, P<0.001), suppressed NO (EF 20 μg/mL and 30 μg/mL vs. LPS only, 288.81±38.01 vs. 447.68±19.07 μmol/L, P=0.004;and 158.80±45.14 vs. 447.68±19.07 μmol/L, P<0.001), TNF-α (LPS+EF vs. LPS only, 210.20±13.85 vs. 577.70±5.35 pg/mL, P<0.001), IL-1β (LPS+EF vs. LPS only, 193.30±10.80 vs. 411.03±42.28 pg/mL, P<0.001), and IL-6 (LPS+EF vs. LPS only, 149.67±11.60 vs. 524.80±6.24 pg/mL, P<0.001) secretion, and downregul

New experimental data of densities and surface tensions are presented for the binary mixtures of the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3- methyl imidazolium nitrate （[EMIM]NO3） with methanol and ethanol. Measurements were performed at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure, covering the whole composition range. Excess molar volumes VE and the surface tension deviations 8y have been determined. For the excess molar volumes of binary mixture, there is a region of negative VE at low IL mole fraction, passing through a minimum and then VE increases and becomes positive, showing maximum at higher IL mole fraction. It is shown that the surface tension deviations ~y of [EMIM]NO3 ＋ methanol system are positive but those of [EMIM]NO3 ＋ ethanol system are negative over the entire mole fraction range.

Background Multi-detector computed tomography （MDCT） has already been the first line investigation method for diagnosis of pulmonary embolism （PE）. Reducing the amount of contrast medium used during CT scanning could decrease the incidental rate of adverse reactions. Our study amied to evaluate the image quality of pulmonary arteries using 64 slice multi-detector CT with small volumes of contrast media injection. Methods Forty nonconsecutive patients without PE or other lung diseases were randomly assigned to two groups. Group A underwent CT scanning with 16×1 .25 mm collimation and a 70 ml contrast injection, while group B had CT with 64×0.625 mm collimation and 20 ml of contrast injection. Two readers independently depicted the segmental and subsegmental pulmonary arteries. Reasons we could not analyze the pulmonary artery or that led to misdiagnosis of pulmonary embolism were evaluated, including the degree of contrast enhancement of the main pulmonary artery, and factors that caused misdiagnosis of PE （flow-related artifacts, partial volume artifact, beam-hardening artifacts and enhancement of pulmonary vein）. The independent samples t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and Pearson chi-square test were applied. Results There were no significant differences in image quality of segmental and subsegmental arteries between the two groups. No significant difference was found for factors that made pulmonary arteries non-analyzable or in the misdiagnosis of PE, except the degree of contrast enhancement. Conclusion 64×0.625 mm collimation with 20 ml contrast injection could depict the pulmonary arteries well.

The colloidal crystal template or opal with a closed-packed face-centered cubic （fcc） lattice was prepared from monodisperse polystyrene （PS） spheres by vertical sedimentation. The template provided void space for infiltration of monomer precursor composed of acrylate acid, acrylamide and ammonium-persulfate, as well as microgel from the subsequent copolymerization. The sample was immersed in dimethylbenzene for completely removing PS spheres to form PAM inverse opal hydrogels （IOHPAM） or PAM/PAA inverse opal hydrogels （IOHPAM/PAA） photonic crystals. The PS spheres were replaced by air spheres, which interconnected each other through the windows. The study of responses to pH show that there are two peaks for both IOHPAM and IOHPAM/PAA films, but the IOHPAM/PAA peaks shift to higher pH, and the peaks are independent with the AA content.

The Fe40Mn40Cr10Co10/TiC (volume fraction of TiC, 10%) composites were synthesized in combination of ball milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS) in the present work. Mechanical properties and wear resistance of the Fe40Mn40Cr10Co10/TiC composites were individually investigated. It was found that TiC particles homogenously distributed in the Fe40Mn40Cr10Co10/TiC composite after being sintered at 1373 K for 15 min. Meanwhile, grain refinement was observed in the as-sintered composite. Compared with the pure Fe40Mn40Cr10Co10 medium entropy alloy (MEA) matrix grain, addition of 10% TiC particles resulted in an increase in the compressive strength from 1.571 to 2.174 GPa, and the hardness from HV 320 to HV 872. Wear resistance results demonstrated that the friction coefficient, wear depth and width of the composite decreased in comparison with the Fe40Mn40Cr10Co10 MEA matrix. Excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance could offer the Fe40Mn40Cr10Co10/TiC composite a very promising candidate for engineering applications.
