Interfaces of metal-oxide heterostructured electrocatalyst are critical to their catalytic activities due to the significant interfacial effects. However, there are still obscurities in the essence of interfacial effects caused by crystalline defects and mismatch of electronic structure at metal-oxide nanojunctions. To deeply understand the interfacial effects, we engineered crystalline-defect Pd-Cu2O interfaces through nonepitaxial growth by a facile redox route. The Pd-Cu2O nanoheterostructures exhibit much higher electrocatalytic activity toward glucose oxidation than their single counterparts and their physical mixture,which makes it have a promising potential for practical application of glucose *** study and density functional theory(DFT) calculations demonstrated that the interfacial electron accumulation and the shifting up of d bands center of Cu-Pd toward the Fermi level were responsible for excellent electrocatalytic activity. Further study found that Pd(3 1 0) facets exert a strong metaloxide interface interaction with Cu2O(1 1 1) facets due to their lattice mismatch. This leads to the sinking of O atoms and protruding of Cu atoms of Cu2O, and the Pd crystalline defects, further resulting in electron accumulation at the interface and the shifting up of d bands center of Cu-Pd, which is different from previously reported charge transfer between the interfaces. Our findings could contribute to design and development of advanced metal-oxide heterostructured electrocatalysts.

In higher plants,the shoot apical meristem produces lateral organs in a regular spacing(phyllotaxy)and timing(plastochron).The molecular analysis of mutants associated with phyllotaxy and plastochron would increase our understanding of the mechanism of shoot architecture *** this study,we identified mutant mnd8ynp5 that shows an increased rate of leaf emergence and a larger number of nodes in combination with a dwarfed growth habit from an EMS-treated population of the elite barley cultivar Yangnongpi *** a map-based cloning strategy,the mnd8 gene was narrowed down to a 6.7-kb genomic interval on the long arm of chromosome *** analysis revealed that a C to T single-nucleotide mutation occurred at the first exon(position 953)of HORVU5Hr1G118820,leading to an alanine(Ala)to valine(Val)substitution at the 318th amino acid ***,HORVU5Hr1G118820 was defined as the candidate gene of MND8 encoding 514 amino acids and containing two multidrug and toxic compound extrusion(MATE)*** is highly homologous to maize Bige1and has a conserved function in the regulation of plant development by controlling the leaf initiation *** of modern barely varieties showed that Hap-1 was the dominant haplotype and was selected in barley breeding around the ***,our results indicated that mnd8ynp5 is a novel allele of the HORVU5Hr1G118820 gene that is possibly responsible for the shortened plastochron and many noded dwarf phenotype in barley.

A high resolution range profile(HRRP) is a summation vector of the sub-echoes of the target scattering points acquired by a wide-band ***, HRRPs obtained in a noncooperative complex electromagnetic environment are contaminated by strong *** pre-processing of the HRRP data can greatly improve the accuracy of target *** this paper, a denoising and reconstruction method for HRRP is proposed based on a Modified Sparse Auto-Encoder, which is a representative non-linear *** better reconstruct the HRRP, a sparse constraint is added to the proposed model and the sparse coefficient is calculated based on the intrinsic dimension of *** denoising of the HRRP is performed by adding random noise to the input HRRP data during the training process and fine-tuning the weight matrix through singular-value *** results of simulations showed that the proposed method can both reconstruct the signal with fidelity and suppress noise effectively, significantly outperforming other methods, especially in low Signal-to-Noise Ratio conditions.

The development of aggregation-induced emission luminogens(AIEgens) with high brightness and efficient photodynamic therapy(PDT) is of great value for the precise diagnosis and treatment of cancers. In this contribution, two novel AIEgens, TBBCyP and TBTCyP with D-A-π-A structure, were designed and prepared based on molecular rational design of electron-donating receptors. Experimental and theoretical results indicated that both TBBCyP and TBTCyP own bright AIE feature, satisfy photos ability, and generate efficient singlet oxygen(1O2).Notably, TBBCyP exhibited brighter emission and higher1O2yield in compared with TBTCyP, which could be ascribed to its weaker twisted intramolecular charge transfer(TICT) effect and narrower singlet-triplet energy gap(ΔEST). Moreover, it was proved that TBBCyP and TBTCyP showed a great mitochondrial specificity and desired intracellular ROS productivity for realizing the effective mitochondria-targeted PDT of cancer cells.

Human-specific insertions play important roles in human phenotypes and *** we reported a 446-bp insertion(Insert-446)in intron 11 of the TBC1D8B gene,located on chromosome X,and traced its origin to a portion of intron 6 of the EBF1 gene on chromosome ***,Insert-446 was present in the human Neanderthal and Denisovans genomes,and was fixed in humans after human-chimpanzee *** have demonstrated that Insert-446 acts as an enhancer through binding transcript factors that promotes a higher expression of human TBC1D8B gene as compared with orthologs in *** addition,over-expression TBC1D8B promoted cell proliferation and migration through“a dual finger”catalytic mechanism(Arg538 and Gln573)in the TBC domain in vitro and knockdown of TBC1D8B attenuated tumorigenesis in *** of Insert-446 prevented cell proliferation and migration in cancer and normal *** results reveal that the human-specific Insert-446 promotes cell proliferation and migration by upregulating the expression of TBC1D8B *** findings provide a significant insight into the effects of human-specific insertions on evolution.

Genetic dissection of the developmental behavior of plant height in rice under different water supply conditions

Plant height （PH） is one of the most important agronomic traits of rice, as it directly affects the lodging resistance and the high yield potential. Meanwhile, PH is often constrained by water supply over the entire growth period. In this study, a recombinant inbred line （RIL） derived from Xiaobaijingzi and Kongyu 131 strains grown under drought stress and with normal irrigation over 2 yr （2013 and 2014）, respectively （regarded as four environments）, was used to dissect the genetic basis of PH by developmental dynamics QTL analysis combined with QTL^environment interactions. QTLs with net effects excluding the accumulated effects were detected to explore the relationship between genexgene interactions and genexenvironment interactions in specific growth period. A total of 26 additive QTLs （A-QTLs） and 37 epistatic QTLs （E-QTLs） associated with PH were detected by unconditional and conditional mapping over seven growth periods, qPH-2-3, qPH-4-3, qPH-6-1, qPH-7-1, and qPH-12-5 could be detected by both unconditional and conditional analyses, qPH-4-3 and qPH-7-5 were detected in four stages （periods） to be sequentially expressed QTLs controlling PH continuous variation. QTLs with additive effects （A-QTLs） were mostly expressed in the period $3iS2 （the time interval from stages 2 to 3）, and QTLxenvironment interactions performed actively in the first three stages （periods） which could be an important developmental period for rice to undergo external morphogenesis during drought stress. Several QTLs showed high adaptability for drought stress and many QTLs were closely related to the environments such as qPH-3-5, qPH-2-2 and qPH-6-1. 72.5% of the QTLs with a and aa effects detected by conditional analysis were under drought stress, and the PVE of QTLs detected by conditional analysis under drought stress were also much higher than that under normal irrigation.
