BACKGROUND In critical care medicine,mesenteric ischemia(MI)is a life-threatening disease that can be present in both critically ill patients and those undergoing major *** the first time,we report a case of concealed MI with a long course after knee *** SUMMARY A male patient underwent left total knee arthroplasty for gouty arthritis and developed a persistent fever and persistently high levels of serum infection markers after *** was considered to have a periprosthetic site infection and treated with antibiotics and colchicine,periprosthetic debridement was performed,and the spacer was replaced,but no improvement was *** 54 d after arthroplasty,the patient developed gastrointestinal symptoms of nausea and vomiting,abdominal distention,and subsequently,cloudiness of consciousness,and hypotensive ***,the patient was diagnosed with ascending colonic mesentery ischemia with necrosis after laparotomy,which improved after right *** Concealed MI without gastrointestinal symptoms after major surgery is rare and easily *** surgeons need to be aware of this complication.

Azadipyrromethene derived polycyclic aromatic complexes(HBPs)containing thirteen fused rings have been synthesized,which show highly selective intense absorption in the near infrared spectrum(NIR)region with high photo-and *** periphery alkoxy and alkyl substituents greatly affect their molecular packing structures in thin films and their thin film transistor *** the simple changes of the alkyl substituents,the packing structures changed from discrete-grain with H-aggregation type absorption to lamellar packing with J-aggregation type absorption,and the semiconducting properties were modulated from p-type to interesting ambipolar-type in solution-processed organic field effect transistors(OFETs)with hole and electron mobilities reaching to 0.42 and 0.17 cm^2 V^-1 s^-1,respectively.

Donor-acceptor(D-A)conjugated polymers comprising electron-deficient aromatic dicarboximide units represent an important type of organic semiconductors,especially for electron transporting ***-1,5,6,10-tetracarboxyl diimide(PyDI),a new PAH dicarboximide molecule recently reported by us,provides a fine balance between the electron-stabilizing ability andπ-stacking tendency,as compared to the naphthalenediimide(NDI)and perylenediimide(PDI)*** this study,using thienylene-vinylene-thienylene(TVT)and biselenophene(BS)as the electron donating comonomer,along with PyDI as the acceptor moiety,we develop two new D-A type conjugated polymers,which exhibit impressive electron-transporting ***,in the solution-processed OFET devices,electron mobility of 0.18 and 0.20 cm^(2)·V^(−1)·s^(−1) are achieved with these polymers,*** findings further prove the optimal potential of PyDI for application as an electron-acceptor building block in the development of polymeric n-type semiconductors among all various high-performance functional D-A polymers.

Unsteady flow structures in centrifugal pump under two types of stall conditions

The stall is an unsteady flow phenomenon that always causes instabilities and low efficiency for pumps. This paper focuses on the unsteady flow structures and evolutions under two types of stall conditions in centrifugal pump impellers. Two centrifugal pump impellers, one with 6 and another with 5 blades, are considered and a developed large-eddy simulation method is adopted. The results show that the alternative stall occurs in the impeller with 6 blades, while, the rotating stall is observed in that with 5 blades. The flow structure and the pressure fluctuation characteristics are further analyzed. For the alternative stall, the stall cells are fixed relative to the impeller, but a large vortex in the stalled passage is always swaying. The outlet vortex is generated from it, and then develops and sheds periodically. For the rotating stall, the stall cells first occur in the suction side of the blade. With the growth of the stall cells, the block area gradually increases until the inlet region is almost blocked, then moves to the pressure side with a continuous decay. When the rotating stall occurs, the amplitude of the pressure fluctuation is much larger than that under the alternative stall condition. The propagation of the stall cells has a significant effect on the pressure fluctuations in the impeller.

A series of copolymers of thiazoloisoindigo (Tzll) with different chalcogenophene trimers were synthesized to systematicllyinvestigate the chalcogen effect on their charge transport *** only the middlethiophene ring of terthiphene(T-T-T)is replaced byheavier chalcogenophenes,a preference(expressed by the ratio of μe/μh)towards electron transport was observed descending from T-T-Tto T-Se-Tthen to T-Te-T(Se and Te stand for selenophene and tellurophene,respectively).On the other hand,with the increased number of heavierchalcogenophenes,a preference toward hole transport was observed descending from Se-T-Se to Se-Se-se then to *** phenomenon iswellexplained by the balance between the aromatic resonance energy of the chalcogenophenes and the electronegativity of the ***,P(TZll-T-Se-T)displayed relatively balanced ambipolar property(μh^(max)andμe^(max) of 3.77 and 1.59 cm^(2)·v^(-1)·s^(-1)with aμe/μh of 0.42).while P(Tll-Se-Te-Se)exhibited the best preference to hole transfer with a u.u,of 0.09.P(Tzll-T-Te-T)exhibited the best preference to electrontransfer with aμe/μl,of 16 and theμe^(max)of 0.64 cm^(2)·v^(-).s^(-1)which is the highest electron mobility among the known conjugated polymerscontaining tellurophenes.

Electron-rich thiophene-flanked thiazoloisoindigo(Th-TzII)has been reported as a building block for ambipolar polymeric field-effect transistors however with preferable hole ***,we report that by using an electron deficient thiazole as the flanked moiety,the corresponding thiazoloisoindigo(Tz-TzII)can still be synthesized,although in a more sinuous *** calculation and experimental results demonstrate that Tz-TzII is more electron-deficient than Th-TzII,and the corresponding polymer P(TzII-Tz-T-Tz)exhibits high and balanced hole/electron mobility of 0.70/0.64 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1).

Several series of fluorene-based light-emitting polymers with the emphasis on achieving efficient and stable bluelight emission are reported. Spiro-functionalization may narrow the emission spectra (with smaller tail at Ionger wavelengths)of fluorene homopolymers to provide purer blue emission. The thermal spectral stability of the polymers could also beimproved because of the elevation of the glass transition temperature caused by the spiro-functionalization. However, theexcimer emission in fluorene homopolymers is not suppressed by the spiro-functionalization. Alternate copolymers of 9,9-dihexylfluorene and substituted phenylenes may emit efficient blue ligh both in solution and in film. The optical propertiesare dependent on the substituion on the phenylene ring. The alkoxy-substituted polymers displayed efficient PL and EL andgood thermal spectral stability. The HOMO and LUMO energy levels of the polymers based on the backbone structure couldbe tuned in a wide range by attaching different functional groups on the phenylene ring. By attaching europium(III) complexat the ends of the side chains in the alternate copolymers, we have demonstrated a new approach to achieving red emissionwith a very narrow spectrum. The copolymers of 9,9-dihexylfluorene and thiophene and bithiophene with differentsubstitutions were also synthesized to study the effect of substitution and regioregularity on the optical and other physicalproperties of the polymers.

Developing new polymeric semiconductors with excellent device performance is essential for organic electronics. Herein, we synthesized two new thiazoloisoindigo(Tz II)-based polymers, namely, P(Tz II-d Th-d Th) and P(Tz II-d Th-d Tz), by copolymerizing thiophene-flanked Tz II with bithiophene and bithiazole, respectively. Owing to the more electron-deficient nature of bithiazole than bithiophene, P(Tz II-d Th-d Tz)possesses deeper LUMO/HOMO levels of-3.45/-5.47 e V than P(Tz II-d Th-d Th)(-3.34/-5.32 e V). The organic field-effect transistor(OFET) devices based on P(Tz II-d Th-d Th) exhibited p-type behaviors with an average hole mobility value as high as 1.43 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1), while P(Tz II-d Th-d Tz)showed typical ambipolar characteristics with average hole and electron mobilities of 0.38 and 0.56 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1). In addition, we compared the performances of both polymers with other Tz II-based polymers reported in our previous work, and showed that the charge carrier polarity can be manipulated by adjusting the number of the thiophene units between the acceptor unit. As the increase of the number of thiophene rings,charge carrier polarity shifts from electron-dominated ambipolar transport to hole-dominated ambipolar transport and then to unipolar hole transport in OFETs, which provides an effective molecular design strategy for further optimization of polymer OFET performance.
