Nab-paclitaxel plus capecitabine as first-line treatment for advanced biliary tract cancers:An open-label,non-randomized,phase II clinical trial

BACKGROUND Biliary tract cancers(BTCs)are a heterogeneous group of tumors with high malignancy,poor prognosis,and limited treatment *** To explore the efficacy and safety of nab-paclitaxel plus capecitabine as first-line treatment for advanced and metastatic *** This open-label,non-randomized,double-center,phase II clinical trial recruited systemic therapy-naive patients with unresectable or metastatic BTCs between April 2019 and June 2022 at Beijing Cancer Hospital and the First Hospital of China Medical *** patients were administered nab-paclitaxel(150 mg/m^(2),day 1)and capecitabine(2000 mg/m^(2),twice daily,days 1-7)in 14-day cycles until experiencing intolerable toxicity or disease *** primary outcome was the objective response rate(ORR).The secondary outcomes included the disease control rate(DCR),overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),and *** A total of 44 patients successfully completed the trial,with a median age of 64.00 years(interquartile range,35.00-76.00),and 26(59.09%)were *** response assessment was impeded for one patient due to premature demise from tumor *** the remaining 43 patients undergoing at least one imaging assessment,the ORR was 23.26%[95%confidence interval(CI):11.80%-38.60%],and the DCR was 69.77%(95%CI:53.90%-82.80%).The median OS was 14.1 months(95%CI:8.3-19.9),and the median PFS was 4.4 months(95%CI:2.5-6.3).A total of 41 patients(93.18%)experienced at least one adverse event(AE),with 10 patients(22.73%)encountering grade≥3 AEs,and the most frequent AEs of any grade were alopecia(79.50%),leukopenia(54.55%),neutropenia(52.27%),and liver dysfunction(40.91%),and no treatment-related deaths were *** Nab-paclitaxel plus capecitabine may be an effective and safe first-line treatment strategy for patients with advanced or metastatic BTCs.

Copolymer-assisted Polypropylene Separator for Fast and Uniform Lithium Ion Transport in Lithium-ion Batteries

In lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),separators play a vital role in lithium-ion(Li+)transport,and thus affect rate performance,battery life,and ***,a new kind of multifunctional copolymer poly(acrylonitrile-co-lithium acrylate-co-butyl acrylate)(PAAB-Li)is synthesized through soap-free emulsion polymerization,and is used to form homogeneous-covered separator based on PP matrix by a simple dip-annealing *** to the bare PP separator,the modified separators with PAAB-Li enable higher ionic conductivity,higher lithium ion transference number(increased from 0.360 to 0.525),and lower interface impedance(reduced from 155Ω to 34Ω).It has been indicated that PAAB-Li functional layer significantly promotes the fast transport of Li+and improves the compatibility of the separator/electrolyte-electrode *** LiCo02/graphite cells with the PAAB-Li-assisted separator demonstrate excellent cycle stability and rate *** addition,the Li symmetric cells with the modified separator stably cycle over 800 h,indicating the functional layer effectively suppresses the lithium dendrite *** facile strategy can be easily applied to LIBs requiring high safety and even be scalable to Li metal ***,the possible mechanism of the PAAB-Li functional layer promoting fast and uniform Li+transport is discussed in this paper.

·AIM:To evaluate the functional and structural changes of photoreceptors in patients and asymptomatic carriers with Leber hereditary optic neuropathy(LHON)using fullfield electroretinography(FERG)and optical coherence tomography(OCT).·METHODS:Individuals diagnosed with LHON at the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University and their family members were included in this cross-sectional observational *** FERG a-wave amplitude of affected patients and asymptomatic carriers was *** thickness of the outer nuclear layer(ONL),inner and outer segment(IS/OS)and total photoreceptors in the macular fovea and parafovea were measured.·RESULTS:This study included 14 LHON patients(mean age:20.00±9.37y),12 asymptomatic carriers(mean age:39.83±6.48y),and 14 normal subjects(mean age:24.20±1.52y).The FERG results showed that the darkadapted 3.0 electroretinography and light-adapted 3.0 electroretinography a-wave amplitudes of patients and carriers were significantly decreased(P0.05).·CONCLUSION:Photoreceptors function is significantly impaired in LHON-affected patients and asymptomatic ***,photoreceptors morphology is slightly altered,mainly manifesting as a change in ONL thickness.

Early Triassic microbialites from the Changxing Region of Zhejiang Province,South China

Microbialites, often considered as a signal of extreme marine environment, are common in the Lower Triassic strata of South China where they flourished in the aftermath of the end-Permian mass extinction. Early Triassic microbialite facies are known to vary palaeogeographically, perhaps due to differing climates, ocean chemistry, and water depths. This paper provides the first record of a brief, but spectacular development of microbialites in the aftermath of the end-Permian mass extinction at Panjiazhuang section, Changxing Region of Zhejiang Province (eastern South China). Here, the Upper Permian Changxing Formation comprises typical shallow platform facies rich in calcareous algae and foraminifera, the development of which was terminated by the major end-Permian regression. A 3.4-m-thick microbialite began to form at the onset of the transgression in the earliest Triassic. The microbialite at Panjiazhuang section is composed of thrombolite that contains abundant calcified cyanobacteria, small gastropods, microconchid tubes and ostracods, representing a low-diversity shallow marine community in the aftermath of the end-Permian crisis. The microbialites are succeeded by thin-bedded micrites bearing thin-shelled bivalves, which record a rapid sea-level rise in the Early Triassic. Abundant populations of small pyrite framboids are observed in the upper part of the microbialites and the overlying thin-bedded micrites, suggesting that dysoxic water conditions developed at that time. The appearance of microbialites near the Permian-Triassic boundary (PTB) at Panjiazhuang section was the result of peculiar marine conditions following the end-Permian regression, whilst their disappearance was due to the increasing water depth and the development of dysoxia.

Rechargeable lithium metal batteries(LMBs)have gained much attention ***,the short lifespan and safety issues restrict their commercial *** we report a novel gel polymer electrolyte(GPE)based on lithiated poly(vinyl chloride-r-acrylic acid)(PVCAALi)to realize dendritesuppressing and long-term stable lithium metal *** chains ensure the quick gelation process and high electrolyte uptake,and lithiated PAA segments enable the increase of mechanical strength,acceleration of lithium-ion transmission and improvement of interfacial *** GPE showed much higher mechanical strength compared with other free-standing GPEs in previous *** displays a superior ionic conductivity of 1.50 m S cm^(-1) and a high lithium-ion transference number of 0.59 at room ***,the lithiated GPE exhibits excellent interfacial compatibility with lithium metal *** symmetrical cells with PVCAALi GPE yield low hysteresis of 50 m V over1000 h at 1.0 m A cm^(-2).And the possible mechanism of the lithiated GPE with improved lithium-ion transfer and interfacial property was ***,both the Li4Ti5O12/Li and lithium-sulfur(Li-S)cells assembled with PVCAALi GPE show outstanding electrochemical performance,retaining high discharge capacities of 133.8 m Ah g^(-1) and 603.8 m Ah g^(-1) over 200 cycles,*** work proves excellent application potential of the highly effective and low-cost PVCAALi GPE in safe and long-life LMBs.

Toward Analytical Homogenized Relaxation Modulus for Fibrous Composite Material with Reduced Order Homogenization Method

In this manuscript,we propose an analytical equivalent linear viscoelastic constitutive model for fiber-reinforced composites,bypassing general computational *** method is based on the reduced-order homogenization(ROH)*** ROH method typically involves solving multiple finite element problems under periodic conditions to evaluate elastic strain and eigenstrain influence functions in an‘off-line’stage,which offers substantial cost savings compared to direct computational homogenization *** to the unique structure of the fibrous unit cell,“off-line”stage calculation can be eliminated by influence functions obtained *** the standard solid model to the ROH method enables the creation of a comprehensive analytical homogeneous viscoelastic constitutive *** method treats fibrous composite materials as homogeneous,anisotropic viscoelastic materials,significantly reducing computational time due to its analytical *** approach also enables precise determination of a homogenized anisotropic relaxation modulus and accurate capture of various viscoelastic responses under different loading *** sets of numerical examples,including unit cell tests,three-point beam bending tests,and torsion tests,are given to demonstrate the predictive performance of the homogenized viscoelastic ***,the model is validated against experimental measurements,confirming its accuracy and reliability.

16.48% Efficient solution-processed CIGS solar cells with crystal growth and defects engineering enabled by Ag doping strategy

Solution-processed Cu(In,Ga)Se_(2)(CIGS) solar cells suffer from serious carrier recombination and power conversion efficiency(PCE) loss because of the poor film properties and easy formation of ***, we propose Ag&Se co-selenization strategy to enhance the crystallization and passivate harmful defects of the CIGS films. The formation of Ag-Se phase during the selenization process enables the formation of large grains and suppresses the deep level defects. It is found that Ag doping can enlarge the depletion region width, lower the Urbach energy and prolong the carrier lifetime. As a result, a champion solution-processed CIGS solar cell presents a high efficiency of 16.48% with the highly improved opencircuit voltage(VOC) of 662 m V and fill factor(FF) of 75.8%. This work provides an efficient strategy to prepare high quality solution-processed CIGS films for high-performance CIGS solar cells.

Superhydrophobic coatings have tremendous potential for cotton fabric applications in antifouling and *** great scientific and industrial interest in waterproof cellulosic cotton,its application in cotton fibres has been hindered by complicated processes,templates requirement,and limitations in scale-up ***,we prepared a hydrophobic coating using one-step hydrolysis of *** the reaction of long-chain organosilanes with acid,micro/nanostructures with low surface energy were constructed on the cotton fabric ***,the coating not only imparts self-cleaning and anti-bacterial adhesion properties to cotton fabrics,but also maintains a contact angle of over 140°after treatment with acid,alkali,organic solvents and extreme *** addition,the coating can be applied to a wide range of metals,plastics and paper to provide antifouling *** study believes that these excellent overall properties possess enormous potential for various applications involving anti-fouling.
